What a wonderful B&B. As you enter the garden to the Grange it feels like an oasis of calm and is beautifully maintained by Vanessa. Tea and cakes on arrival were very much appreciated and were delicious. Our Room, the York Suite, is the largest and has a lovely space for sitting and reflecting on our daily trips to Whitby, Staithes and of course the gorgeous Thornton le Dale. Do get some chocolate there, made on site and delicious especially if you are gluten free. Tina and Vanessa are a mine of information and very happy to share their stories and advise on places to eat, drink and explore. The highlight for me at breakfast was the Bircher Muesli that Vanessa makes and you can take the recipe home with you too. I am a convert now! Of course there are plenty of other options and the full cooked breakfast looked delicious. I had scrambled eggs on toast and there are several types of marmalade to choose from too. If you can get into the Grange it is well worth visiting.

There wasn't anything I didn't like. The owners can't make the rain stop!

The Grange is a fairly old guest house which has been immaculately brought up to date by the owners but still saving the history of this lovely home, you only have to walk into the dining room & notice the well in the floor which has been tastefully bricked up on the internal sides, lights fitted & a glass top which you can stand on & look into the well, have to see it to appreciate the work that’s gone in to it, the breakfasts were amazing & even if a full breakfast was not your choice everyday you could order from a extensive menu, We were only there for 3 nights & stayed in the Whitby room, it had a old type fireplace in it as well as the bathroom, the bed was large & very comfortable, wished we had stayed a little longer, definitely stay there again

Nothing not to like

Lovely stone building set within beautiful well maintained gardens, plenty of places to sit and relax in the sun. Car park at rear. Inside was quaint and spacious and had lovely features as you would expect in a cottage. immaculately clean and welcoming. Owners Christine and Vanessa were very friendly and helpful in providing information on local eating places and places to visit. The breakfast room was very airy and there was a very good choice of food which was always nicely cooked and presented. Our room, The York, was really spacious, looked out over the gardens and contained everything you would need for a stay away, including a few little touches I was not expecting. I would totally recommend a stay at The Grange.

No need to improve on anything.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at The Grange. The house is lovely and our room was very comfortable with high quality decor and accessories. Very comfy bed and soft fluffy towels in the en suite bathroom. Great breakfast, all the ingredients were of a high standard and a large selection of cereals, toast and cooked breakfast was offered by Vanessa and Tina. If we are in the area again we would definitely stay at The Grange again.

A really warm welcome upon our arrival from Tina, Vanessa and Ruby the dog. We stayed in the York room a beautiful light and airy room. Huge bed and a lovely seated area. The bathroom has a huge walk in shower, very tastefully decorated throughout. Breakfast was delicious, I would highly recommend Vanessa's Bircher oats, Tina's cooked breakfast was perfect. The garden is delightful, we even sat and relaxed with a picnic. Gorgeous gorgeous place to stay, definitely recommend and most certainly will return.

Everything was perfect and Tina and Vanessa couldn't do enough to make your stay perfect.

The property is extremely well presented, stylish and elegant but with unique character features including a covered well in the dining room. The owners clearly have an eye for detail and their attention to detail shows through. The welcome we received on arriving was followed through during our stay which really helped to make it a wonderful few days. The breakfasts too were exceptional and the quality of the food they use, the cooking and delivery for us was just perfect!

I don’t think there was anything we didn’t like.

The breakfast was superb. A lot of thought has obviously gone into sourcing local, fresh ingredients. It was prepared & cooked to order and everything looked so appetising and tasted delicious. I can recommend the Bircher Muesli. Thank you for going the extra mile & making a bacon sandwich for my husband who was going to miss breakfast when he went off early one morning to Bempton Cliffs. The Grange felt very homely. We had everything we needed in lovely surroundings.

The property was lovely - Georgian stone house with modern interior with plenty of storage in our room. The garden was a joy; beautiful, big. The locality was beautiful countryside with evening meals and Sunday lunch not too far to get to - the owners have many to recommend! There are five rooms, and parking at the rear of the property. The breakfasts were excellent and kept us going all day.

In the three nights we stayed, we found nothing that we didn't like.

It was everything we could have wanted, clean, comfortable, warm, welcoming, friendly and definitely relaxing both inside and out. Tina and Vanessa were the perfect hosts, with a great eye for detail and nothing was too much trouble. We had a great time playing ball in the garden with Ruby the dog 😊

Only booking two nights, should have stayed for more.
