My room (room 8) was small but very cosy. It was clean & airy with a very comfortable single bed. I had to use a shared shower and toilet but as my stay was only 1 night that's no hassle. The breakfast exceeded my expectations. Plenty of cereals, toast, yoghurt and fruit. A cafitiere of coffee on request and a nicely cooked bacon & egg roll served in the large breakfast room got my day off to a great start. The hotel isn't far from the motorway with plenty of good pubs nearby too! There is a large, easily accessible carpark off the road at the front.

Nothing, great value for money!

The place is clean, well presented and gives real value for money. I've stayed on a number of occasions for work and will continue to do so. Showers are good as you would expect and if you get the correct room, they are spacious. Breakfast offers the usual cereals/yogurts/fruit juices as well as a cooked breakfast also. All served with tea or a cafeteria of ground coffee.

Some rooms are smaller than others and can give a slightly cramped feel. There is no lift and most rooms tend to be up 2 flights of stairs. Not an issue for a young thing like me but elderly and/or infirm people may find it a bit exhausting taking their luggage up n down at check in/out. Beds are a touch on the firm side and not to the standard of a Premier Inn for example. I should mention that none of the above are game-changers for myself but they may be for some people. I find it a delightful place to stay.

We broke our journey from Reading to Dundee in Preston. The key criteria were a good rating and easy parking and happily, St Andrew’s had both. Our room was comfortable enough, with a good bed, wardrobe and space for one large suitcase + a couple of back packs. Went for a room with an ensuite which had a decent sized shower with reasonable water pressure. Wifi was good. Our room overlooked a main road towards Blackpool but it wasn’t too noisy and certainly not as busy as some hotels closer to town. We were several flights up on the top level so be prepared to carry your luggage. Breakfast the next day was good with cereal, toast etc, plunger coffee if you wanted it and a hot toasted sandwich (eg: bacon and egg). Plenty for when you’re driving for a full day.

It didn’t bother us but you should note that, to save space, there was no door on the bathroom - only a thick curtain.

Everything about this place, the friendliness of the owner, staff.... the comfort and cleanliness of the room, the breakfast.... advertised as "continental" I'm assuming because they are doing a massive upgrade. I had virtually a full English with continental available!!!

The fact its only got a 2 star rating. I've been very lucky in life, and often stay at 4/5 rated hotels. Just because they offer a gymnasium or swimming facilities.... places like this don't get to feature because they are not a chain... but it reminded me yesterday, they are the best.

Such a great bed and breakfast. Staff are lovely and the hotel is clean and well decorated. The complimentary breakfast is great... continental and/or breakfast roll. Rooms have everything you need, WiFi works great and getting in and out the hotel is simple, with codes provided. The hotel is about 30 mins walk from the town centre and is nice and quiet.

The only negative from the whole hotel is the comfort of the mattress. A firmer, better quality mattress would have resulted in a score of 10.

We were greeted as we parked the car in the hotel car park which is right at the front door. Really friendly welcome following our long journey. Were shown the security code to enter the hotel should we go out & return after 10pm. Felt secure with a multi screen cctv behind reception The continental breakfast was really good : fruit juice / cereals/ selection of yoghurts/ croissants/ toast / pain au chocolate/jam or marmalade. Hot rolls of choice from sausage/ egg/ bacon. Tea & coffee. Really lovely friendly service. Such good value. We had 2 rooms booked for our family. Beds / pillows were super comfy . Slept so well. Spotlessly clean. Spacious shower cubicle in en-suite, which was beautifully tiled. Very helpful & friendly hospitality. Car parked in hotel front. Nothing too much trouble for the management / staff. Would stay again without hesitation.

Just a tiny thing, because we loved this gem of a hotel, spotlessly clean, new as new beautifully tiled & spacious shower cubicle en suite but could have done with a small shower gel . We'd forgotten ours , although a corner shop was 3/4 minutes along the road & we easily picked up there. There was hand-wash at the sink. Although we slept soundly, light sleepers may hear the traffic passing from the quite busy road to the front of the hotel. It was a warm night & our windows were left wide open all night. This may not be any problem with them closed.

The bedroom felt nice and cosy, it was clean and well presented. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was great too - good choice with the hot sandwiches and continental breakfast! Had a really nice stay here and it was great value for money, especially with how close to the centre it was.

I think maybe the drains need unblocking in the shower and the hand sink in the bedroom as after we used the sink or shower you could smell the drains for a few minutes - nothing a bit of drain unblocker couldn’t fix I imagine (not that this would stop us from coming back as it really wasn’t too bad but just something to note!)

It was clean, quiet, staff were attentive but discreet. Even though there was building work being done the hotel was kept spotless and there was little to no noise. The selection for breakfast was more than expected and was more than sufficient for our needs.

Not really an important issue but the seating area outside was quite uneven underfoot and the parking area was quite restricted but I imagine in the near future this will be part of the current renovations that are ongoing. As I said not a major issue as we managed to get parked and still managed to enjoy a coffee outside in the evening

The bed was really comfortable. Bed linen fresh, towels lovely, white & soft. Breakfast was great, good selection of cereals, fruit, yogurt, croissants, jams etc and you can have a hot roll or similar. We had two fried eggs on toast, which was lovely. You had to pay extra for a full breakfast, but we felt what was on offer was more than sufficient. We were just there for one night on a journey to wales and it was welcoming, comfortable and quiet.

There wasnt a door on the ensuite, just a curtain. My partner is tall and struggled to fit under the sloping ceiling in the ensuite when standing at the toilet pan.

Nice little guest house. Room was nice and modern looking, shower was hot and enough pressure, bed comfortable, with enough pillows, not just one each!! Accommodated us nicely with late check in and out, also with breakfast as we have a young baby, made the night more enjoyable, breakfast was nice, good selection on offer, it was a last min booking but staff were friendly and helpful.
