Penventon Park Hotel

We had two dogs and the staff were fantastic with them. Probably more looked after than we were (in a good way). Staff couldn’t do enough for us and a huge thanks to all of them particularly the bar staff who were on top of us all the time to top up our drinks and if we needed anything! Just what was needed after long days out. Rooms were very clean considering it was a dog room, decor was interesting to look at and every room outside the hotel room had character and was nice to relax in. Every meal we had there was done to a high standard and the steak is highly recommended as it’s cooked on coals. Great selection of cocktails, gins and most other alcoholic drinks.

Can’t say I didn’t like anything about the property. Probably needs key cards at some point. But that’s only because I snapped the key, due to having two dogs that were pulling but they sorted this out without any hassle too.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was great as well - and the cocktails were very reasonably priced. We also loved the spa and pool facilities and took full advantage of this whilst we were there. We had a massage each and the beautician was really great and friendly.

The one downside was the slightly dated room we had, as the bathroom had seen better days and we noticed a few chipped floor tiles that caught our feet a couple of times. However, when we addressed this with the receptionist, she was very apologetic and informed maintenance right away to fix the issue.

Stayed for 4 nights and 3 days at the hotel. A great stay overall! We had afternoon tea one day which was lovely and dinner another day about which my husband raved! The staff where friendly throughout from the front of house reception staff, to dining staff to the cleaning staff we met in corridors. The room was lovely and clean with a very comfortable bed. I usually struggle to sleep in hotels but I slept very well at the Penventon!

Breakfast was good but I feel the range offered was a bit constricted compared to what I've seen elsewhere... particularly on the continental front. The decor of the hotel also came across old-fashioned. It seemed trendy in the main facilities but rather outdated in the rooms - e.g. furniture and TV. Also, we opted for the Penvention due to its fitness facilities but we did find them rather lacking. The pool/jacuzzi/sauna was okay but the gym was very basic, small and not very well equipped.

Paventon has an amazing staff,at the restaurant they have excellent food and the service is exceptional. Many nice options for the breakfast and in the lounge many boars games and nice bar. The room was more spacious then expected and the bed a king size also a surprise as I booked a double room. The reception was brilliant and we were introduced to the room and presented all the features. Had a small fridge and a small tv. Extremely clean and room servicing impeccable. You could order snacks until 3 am so we had such a good movie evening with warm nachos.

I can say that the sauna and pool area could be improved but was still a very good option and we got nice bath robes in the room and we could change in the room and go straight in the pool area. We could hear the neighbours upstairs how the wood floor wasn't well fitted but wasn't disturbing.

We traveled with dogs and they gave us the room on the ground with a back garden exit so we don’t have to cross all the hotel when go out. The staff was really nice with a small exception on the last day when almost missed the breakfast and the lady kind of told us off. Otherwise everything went smooth and we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are a bit outdated and could do with a refurbish but we’re there to enjoy the places and didn’t spend to much time inside. The price was a bit too high but understandable for the half term period

The lady on the last day was rude and disrespectful compared to other staff. The rooms needs an update

On arrival the staff were lovely and extremely accommodating. The room was absolutely beautiful and styled in a calming, English countryside way. The bathroom was modern and again calming. The breakfast was simple, we would’ve loved a sweet option (pancakes, waffles or crepes) to break up the savoury every day, but it wasn’t a huge deal. Having free parking was a bonus as well as free access to the leisure centre. Although massages were an extra cost, we would highly recommend!

Our shower was extremely squeaky, I thought there was a mouse in there to start with before we realised what it was. We were used to it after a couple of days though, we think it just needs a good clean/ descaling.

Fabulous decor, loved the elegant lounge, smart bar and the oh so lovely chandeliers ! The comfortable bedroom, excellent spa, wonderful massage. Friendly, professional and helpful pool attendants. Efficient and warmly friendly staff especially the reception.

Being a “foodie” I could have wished for a better vegetarian option for dining but resorted to the ubiquitous but nevertheless delicious omelette for one evening and there are far nicer vegetarian option sausages for breakfast than the ones sampled. Scrambled eggs for breakfast were also decidedly lacklustre, maybe a little cream rather than the watery milk that turned the toast soggy!

Rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. All staff were very helpful and friendly and made us very welcome. The spa treatments were excellent and the spa staff were all lovely. Food was amazing! Couldn’t fault it at all and very good for money especially the Sunday roast dinner. Jonathan the concierge/porter was extremely helpful.

No real garden area to sit outside. This would have been a benefit if the weather was much nicer but didn’t affect our stay at all.

Was looking for somewhere easy to stay in Cornwall for a night a bit further away from the touristy areas, and found the Penventon hotel. Was extremely impressed! Room was lovely, very comfortable and spacious. Didn't get chance but spa and pool were available, staff were very warm and helpful, guests were nice, breakfast and evening meal were brilliant! Very accommodating and fast service even though there was a wedding reception next door (which I couldn't even hear overnight). If I come to Cornwall again, would definitely look to stay here!

The breakfast was very good. We thought the dinner menu wasn’t so good. We only ate their twice. Not to many places around for dinner. Tesco grocery store. We were doing research at Kresen Kernow. Lots of stairs and long dark halls. Our room size was good however not enough lighting. Hard to step up to get into the shower. People that are not agile would have a hard time. We were constantly very warm and had our fan going 24/7. Window only opened a little ways. Hard to get ventilation. Bed was a little too soft for our liking. No ice on hotel floor for drinks. No fridge in room.
