The car park was great to have, the room and bed were very big. The bathroom had everything you needed. The breakfast was good, the waitress and bar staff was all great.

Prior to arrival id had a notification my card details were invalid (my card had gone out of date) so i provided upto date details and had a reply they had been received. On arrival i was told again of this as it was still on their system, anyway i paid, the till roll ran out was replaced but they could not privide me with a receipt - normally you can print duplicates - it's not a big problem but i did feel a bit put out at the front desk being told again my card was invalid and then not getting a receipt. The bathroom had lots of exposed pipe work and could have done with regrouting in places.

Lovely old building. The room was compact ( fine for one night ) but comfortable with a four poster bed , table, storage and a good sized bathroom with a stunning shower. Great aircon unit, very quiet so we could keep it on during a hot muggy night without disturbance. We had dinner and the food was excellent & really good value , good selection of real ales. Breakfast was freshly cooked with good quality ingredients, the best I have had for a while.on site parking. Finally the staff, so attentive & friendly and very hot on ensuring our dietary needs were met. All that including food & drink for £180 . That's the best value I have had in the UK for a while. Well done !

If I was staying for longer I would want more space in the room hence only a 9 on the rating.

Great location. Ideal for the corn exchange which is attached on the side of the hotel, as we were seeing a gig that night. Staff friendly. Bed & pillows very comfortable. Everything was very clean & tidy & shower gels, hand wash, teas & coffees were all amply stocked. Towels were good too!

Altho it was a sunny weekend there was the thinnest summer weight duvet on the bed & I was freezing in the night. There was some sort of heater/air con on the wall but in the dead of night I didn’t know how to work it! Food... I had the fishcake with a poached egg but asked for the samphire to be omitted, instead I requested a side of red cabbage. It was very light & altho tasty I felt a bit steep @ around £20 all in, I must add tho, my husband had the burger & chips, this was ample so swings & roundabouts!

We were greeted with a smile and all the staff we met were friendly, helpful and cheerful. Our room was lovely and the bed was huge and comfortable. The Kings Head is a beautifull old building, the bar warm, busy and well-stocked and our meal in the restaurant was excellent, as was breakfast. Ross-on-Wye's one-way system took some getting used to and, although we were within sight of the hotel, we were redirected through the town centre - on reflection, a good marketing strategy, because we went back to buy a garden statue my wife had spotted. The Kings Head is just a short stroll from the historic town centre, which has much to offer every taste. We had a relaxing long weekend there and managed to explore Usk, Ledbury and Monmouth too. We shall be back !

Losing my space in the hotel car park when we returned from our exploring !

The room was nice. Slightly dark but it set a relaxing atmosphere and gave the room a nice, cosy feel. Extremely well kept establishment. Everything was clean. The room was very warm but not uncomfortable. The usual compliments were in the room and were kept topped up. The breakfast was pretty comprehensive to. The full English breakfast was very good with no complaints at all. Small selection of the usual cereals and such on the bar. My absolute favorite was most certainly the fresh croissants. It's what we looked forward to most. Service was very prompt. Always greeted by the friendly staff and a drink in just minutes of arriving downstairs. Top compliments go to all that worked on the breakfasts during our stay.

As it is a pub it was slightly noisy until around 11. The room above had a very creaky floor.

A very friendly atmosphere. The staff were very hospitable (you have found your vocation Rosie)! The bed was very large and really comfortable We loved the character of the hotel and all it's history Excellent pub and restaurant on site We ate in the restaurant for the two nights we stayed there and couldn't fault it, had the best soup starter compliments to the chef ! Loved the cosy bar area and found the prices quite reasonable Delicious breakfasts and nothing was too much trouble The hotel should be very proud of it's friendly staff and we would recommend this hotel to all our family and friends

Room quite dark

The King's Head, rather like Ross-on-Wye itself, looks a little tired in places, but it is an old coaching inn which has seen a lot of life! Everyone working in the hotel is very friendly and welcoming, and our room was comfortable. Plenty of hot water and a good bathroom is what you really want after a long day on the road, and that's what you get here. Even better was the restaurant where we had the best meal of our tour. It was faultless. The King's Head is obviously popular with locals which is a good sign too.

Absolutely nothing. We'd wouldn't hesitate to return.

Very good, comfortable, central base for short stay in Ross on Wye. Nice breakfast and hotel very convenient for other restaurants, bars, sights, walks, shopping, etc. Only a small amount extra for larger room and was well worth it as was very generously sized. Small car park to rear, and if full (as in our case) there is an additional, larger, public car park immediately behind that with pedestrian short cut via alley back to hotel front.

Not a particular issue for us and did not affect our stay, but may be of interest to some ….. this is an older property and access to upper floors is via some narrow, twisting stairs with some fire doors to open on way so may be a challenge with hauling luggage at same time. Just another note for info - There is a one way narrow street to front of hotel and hotel car park entrance not immediately aware. May take a couple of ‘drive pasts’ to get bearings, all part of adventure isn’t it?

A listed building I believe, so I found it interesting as well as a nice stay. No lift though, and narrow curved Queen Ann stairs, so had to be able to use stairs. Lovely staff, all of them. Welcoming, helpful (would go out of their way to), friendly. The room was lovely. Good size with very comfortable bed. Walls, etc, decorated nicely and the furniture was solid and useful. Plumbing and electrics both ok. Able to open the windows for air (which I prefer...I'm not an aircon fan). There was a good selection of teas and coffee in the room, and fresh and/or sparkling water in glass bottles. It was clean. The bar and lounge areas were comfortable and often busy. Always a good sign when used by locals. Central location in Ross-on-Wye. Easy access to River Wye and the shops. Some parking available, but a local car park not far if unable to get a space.

Nothing really. I liked it there.

Good food - we ended up eating there every evening. The front of house staff were not just friendly and helpful but were happy too! Room was spacious and (apart from the lack of AC in the extreme heat) very comfortable.

Lack of AC (these were some of the hottest nights of the summer). The wine list needs some key additions to match the food and it would be good if someone front of house could do a short wine course (which I’m sure they’d enjoy). The car park is very small (nothing they can do about that!) but we did manage to find a space each evening.
