We loved the house and all its quirks. The large room was amazing with old beams, wonderful creaky floorboards and such a lot of character. It oozed history. Our host made us feel so welcome from the minute we stepped through the door. The kitchen had some original features and had a lovely homely feel about it. It was my birthday and, as it happened, another couple staying had a birthday too. We both had a rather indulgent piece of cake with a candle. The breakfast was so special and delicious with all you could ask for and more! We both came away feeling we had been treated and incredibly lucky to have found this place.

There was nothing at all to dislike!

The House with Two Front Doors is a really special place to stay and not just because of the stunning building and beautiful location, but because Rachael makes you feel so so welcome. Her warmth, kindness and generosity with her time (not to mention the exceptional breakfast!) is the best we have ever experienced travelling. Thank you for making our stay such a wonderful one. We’ll be back soon for sure! ☺️

My wife and I stayed here last night for a short break. Harry and Ilaria for pleasant and are very informative of the local area. This ancient building has a lot of charm and character and gives a welcoming feeling. Due to the age of the building, it is sadly not suitable for wheelchair users, but this is not a negative comment just a observation and I believe this is the case of most of the B&B’s in the old part of Rye The bedroom we stayed in had has own charm and character and its own private bathroom. Ilaria and Harry provide clean towels, coffee making facilities and a small fridge where the milk is kept. You also will be provided with some slippers, which are comfortable to wear. They have WIFI but no television in the bedroom (which was not an issue for us) but they have a television in one of their communal lounges. The breakfast which is included in the price is cooked freshly for you taking into account any special dietary requirement you have. WE will definitely stay here again and recommend this to all our friends and family

there is nothing we disliked about this Bed and breakfast. It is in an excellent location for what we needed.

Breakfast was excellent and varied, as Rachael likes to surprise guests with her culinary skills. The kitchen and living rooms are welcoming and comfortable spaces for the guests to enjoy. The house is on Mermaid Street, one of the most picturesque in Rye, within easy reach of everything in town.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely, friendly couple who gave us a tour of the house, our key alongside our order for breakfast the next morning. Unbeknown to us they had only been up and running for 3 weeks, their friendliness and professionalism had completely fooled us! They were very helpful for guiding us to park in safe places for our stay in addition to many recommendations on where to eat and what to visit. This included, The Olde Bell, The Hoof, Rye Castle and St Mary’s Church. Breakfast was choice of a full English (locally sourced produced that tasted incredible) or a continental (fresh pastries) both of which was cooked incredibly well by the owners. With an organised staggered breakfast time to accommodate all with Covid restrictions, they indulged us with their story and the history of the house. The house itself is a pocket of history, dating back to the 1500s. It has perfectly sized rooms as well as some that look onto the famous Mermaid Street itself. We can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely be visiting again!

Wouldn’t have changed a thing!

100% recommended!! Wonderful ancient house that would indulge your passion for History. Perfect location, big comfortable bed, very clean room and bathroom, great breakfast with two choices continental or English. The room was provided with toiletries and a kettle + tray with everything you need for a good cup of tea. The style and decoration were beautiful and there were lots of books and helpful guides of Rye and the surroundings. Our hosts were a lovely couple who made us feel comfortable from the very begining. We had a very interesting and long chat with them while enjoying our breakfast. We wish them all the success with this new business!

There is not much I could say against this place but to mention something, the wooden floor was a bit thin (you could even see the light coming from downstairs through the wooden planks) and as our room was on top of the kitchen you could hear the people underneath chatting while having breakfast. It didn't bother us though as we were awake early. About the toilet, it was a bit tricky to flush the toilet as for some reason not much water was coming down. Now being very picky, the toilet seat was difficult to hold upright which bother my male companion a little bit ;) Ignore all what I have written above as the place is outstanding and deserves a visit!!

Ilaria and Harry are exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble. We were celebrating our first anniversary and they gifted us prosecco and handmade chocolate - its the little touches that go a long way. The bed was super comfortable and the bed linen was divine as were the bath robes and slippers. Our room was so pretty with a gorgeous bathroom. Breakfast was top notch too, we can't wait to come back and stay. Huge congrats Ilaria and Harry you've certainly cracked the hospitality industry and long may you continue - Big love Lisa & Steve (Brighton)

The house is charming and somewhat quirky, which is not unexpected for a very old house in Rye. The room was very spacious, the bed very comfortable. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, and gave us many choices about breakfast. Breakfasts were just great; eggs came fresh from the farm of Harry's mother, also a very friendly and chatty lady. Overall, we had a great stay.

My only slight quibble is about the heating. I wouldn't expect heating on in June, normally, but we hit an unusual cold spell, and I could have done with the room being a little warmer.

I can’t recommend the house with two doors highly enough as a place to stay in Rye - and in fact I’m kicking myself that by praising it I’m going to make it harder to find a free weekend to return. Great location, beautifully decorated house, warm welcome and a fried breakfast that didn’t make me want a 3hr nap afterwards. This was a delightful place to stay and excellent value for money.
