Extremely quiet - silent at night ! The manager, Zane and all of the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The building is tired and the bathrooms need to be refurbished but the rooms are clean and tidy and beds are comfy. We have been staying there annually for many years and will always do so. Extremely good value for money and excellent position Tony and Doreen .12th July 2023 Ps. I have emailed Greene King with similar comments !

Bathrooms need to be refurbished

All of the staff were brilliant, so helpful and very friendly. We had a good laugh and good communication makes such a difference. The food was delicious and atmosphere great. Room was large and bed very comfortable. Next to the Baths Hall and less than a mile into town.

The only downside was no lift to the rooms, being a listed building. But the staff could not be more helpful and carried my case up the, less than 20, stairs for me. They were so lovely. I would definitely go back even without a lift.

The room was very spacious and clean and it had everything that we needed for our stay. There was free parking at the location, which was great. We went into the restaurant for a Sunday roast, which was exceptional and outstanding value for money. All the staff were amazing and friendly, it was close to the town centre which was very easy to get to, just a short walk without having to get in the car and drive to, we visited the local pubs, which were great too!

If you're expecting a clinical venue, like a Premier or a Travelodge, this isn't it. The Royal is older, longer established, and has character. It's true some of the upstairs decor could do with a facelift, but it's clean, it's comfortable, and it's welcoming. The staff are very friendly, both front-of-house downstairs and also the household staff. They couldn't have done more. The bar/dining area is excellent, the food is good, and served quickly, and breakfasts are spot-on. Lots of televised sport every night for those looking to relax over an unbelievably good value pint on any evening.

Excellent choice and quality of food served prompt Room was clean and tidy, likewise with bathroom and toilet. The staff we dealt with went out of there way, absolutely first class. The breakfast was good value

You have to measure what value in anything you pay for these days, the hotel far surpasses its pricing and other reviews are certainly harsh on what we experienced. Searching for a negative was that for myself personally our mattress did not offer us a comfy nights sleep, I suppose it’s what you get used too.

The room was surprisingly clean and comfy, bathroom with large bath and shower. The large bed was OK, the bedding was spotlessly clean. The room was well heated, supplied with a desk, wardrobe, and kettle. Parking was large. I liked the good choice of food and beer in the PUB, as well as the supermarket on the opposite side of the street which was also convenient.

Loud neighborhood, drunk guests in the next room were fighting one night till 3 AM. Hotel security did not react. Guests are closed and secured by a few doors but left kinda unattended by night.

The room I was allocated was an excellent size with a sofa included. There was more than adequate storage space as I was travelling for a week's stay. The heater in the room was very welcome at times too as it was very cold outside during my stay. The manager was very friendly and attentive to my few needs. The breakfast was very good.

A great budget hotel that provide ensuite rooms. The staff are nice and the rooms were adequate for our needs.

The bar - on concert days when it is well known that the spacious bar will become busy, please arrange for more bar staff to be on shift. A fair amount of customers walked out without being served and others had a very long wait to purchase drinks. The two members of staff worked very hard but it seemed a little unfair that they had to deal with the complaints themselves with no support.

Very easy access for me to get to the hospital, my reason for staying. staff were all very friendly, very happy to help me at all times. I am visually disabled and everyone was very attentive to my needs.

The outside lighting made it very difficult to see up the front steps and front doorway.

The main bed on the Family room is a large queen size bed and very comfortable. The staff were very nice and friendly and let my daughters have free desserts and myself and my wife have free teas. They also let me have dishes and cutlery for our takeaway which was very helpful. The bar is fairly friendly and family friendly. Parking is normally not a problem with spaces all round the hotel. Location is excellent, there are many takeaways and restaurants in close proximity on Doncaster Road, Frodingham Road and the High Street. There is a Sainsburys just opposite to the side of the hotel, good for breakfast, lunch or provisions. The petrol station is also there. I like coming here when i need to to come to Scunthorpe to visit family, its fairly cheap and is laid back. Late check in and reasonably late check out of 11am is good.

Pity they don't serve breakfast anymore, I remember it was quite good and I enjoyed having breakfast in the bar. Bathroom cups seemed to be missing and a few more towel rails or hooks would be nice. The double bed for the kids was a sofa bed, possibly a bit on the small side and not the most comfortable. Bar food was closed early when we checked in, due to an unexpected number of customers and we had to get a takeaway.
