Rams Head Inn0

We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. The Rams Head Inn has a very friendly atmosphere in the bar/restaurant and Nico is an excellent chef. The mussels and scallops were superb as was everything we ate during our stay. The location in Dolton was perfect for day trips to North Devon (Bideford), North Cornwall (Bude) and by train to Exeter and Torbay and it was very relaxing after a day out to come back and eat in the bar/restaurant. Many thanks to Nico and his team. We will definitely be coming back!

Dinner was excellent on the 2 nights we stayed - not surprising as the owner/chef is Michelin rated ! Our room was comfortable and quiet and the bathroom facilities were good. Breakfast was excellent for me (full English) and my friend enjoyed his porridge ! Friendly, chatty staff and the service was excellent. A beautifully quaint 16/17 century pub/restaurant/B&B in a quiet characterful village in the middle of Devon and their £ rates are very competitive - what more could you want ?!

Beautiful pub, lovely setting, nice room with a sweet old fashioned feel to it. Chef makes an amazing breakfast, not to be missed! Had an evening meal at the pub which was also very good. Nice beer garden to sit out in when we arrived. Parking right outside.

We were unfortunate that there was a group sat on the front outside tables until well after the pub had closed. As this was pretty much under our room window, it made it rather noisy. One of those things, but spoilt what was other than that, a perfect night away. Would happily return despite this :-)

Lovely country inn. Room not " Styled" or pretending to.be an upmarket boutique. Comfy bed and good shower. Tes and coffee in room everything I needed for an overnight stopover. Food in pub was top class. Not a long menu but plenty of choice for meat eaters. Veggie menu had just one choice.

Nothing really ..except evening meals could gave mire veggie options- not the boring, ubiquitous risotto.

Room/bathroom was very good. Evening meal was also good with a few 'quirky' items on the menu (we are not yet used to after -Covid pricing!) Full English was also good, plenty of juice and coffee.

We had a room overlooking the front car park and outside drinking area which was occupied until at least mid-night then there was a bit of noise from 'Good-Byes' and car doors closing which kept us awake. We had had an early start and wanted a reasonable start to sleep.

We’ve been to this hotel on numerous occasions and have never had any problems with it everything you need is at hand the rooms are clean and tidy the food is excellent the bar service is good. The area is very rural but it adds to the experience. Staff are always pleasant and friendly.

We’ve visited this hotel on numerous occasions and love the laid back feel about the place the staff are always friendly and can’t do enough for you. It’s set in a quiet rural location which adds to its pleasantness. The food which is cooked fresh is superb on our every visit. Always relaxing atmosphere

Nothing to complain about

The food was very good throughout our week's stay. The village inn atmosphere was convivial, and the staff were very attentive.

The location was somewhat out of the way especially for those 2 evenings when the restaurant was closed and we had to go 6 or so miles on side roads in the dusk. There was parking in front of the inn but there was not always space, though alternative parking was very closeby. The room was fine but storage space was a bit meagre for a week's stay. The en-suite shower room was very small.

Room facilities excellent although room was initially cold left heater on overnight and then fine. Breakfast used excellent quality products and was absolutely perfect . Buffet of fruit juice and cereal was limited but more than adequate Dinner was the highlight. Better than perfect Room was very clean, good size and just perfect

Breakfast was very good but dinner was exceptional. Food of that standard from a country hotel is rarity and I have never eaten so well other than in a Michelin starred restaurant. Children were made welcome and catered for very well provided they behaved. The room was small but clean with plenty of storage and the ensuite modern bathroom was great.

The size of the room was a little tight but as I was staying alone; it was not an issue for me but, in my opinion, it would have been for two people.
