Excellent little find lovely building

We’ve visited the pub before out of season so wanted to return to stay and wow… what a lovely gem of a place! Beautiful rooms, clean, modern, comfortable with lots of extra touches. Loved that we could get an interconnecting room with the kids which really makes a difference when travelling as a family. My husband was unwell when we arrived and nothing was too much trouble. All staff friendly and provided excellent service and both breakfast and the evening meal we had there were spot on. Thank you - we will return!

Beautiful olde worlde pub with history serving a wide variety of drinks & very good food. Room was absolutely spotless and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Couldn't hear anything from neighbouring rooms but could hear the extractor fan from the kitchen below, however it wasn't on all the time so no big deal. The breakfast was fabulous too with what seemed to be locally sourced produce. Easy parking available. I enjoyed my stay & would definitely stay again.

We stayed at the George while visiting family in the area. The room was clean with a comfortable bed and good shower. Breakfast was freshly cooked - which sometimes involved a bit of a wait but was worth it! We also ate dinner in the pub and the food was great and reasonably priced . Parking on site was never a problem. The staff at the George are very efficient, friendly and welcoming. We would happily stay again and recommend.

Great location. The George is lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Very dog friendly. Our room was very comfortable, spacious and clean. Excellent food served by friendly, helpful staff. Steph went out of her way to help us. Monday evening, 6th Feb, the bar was exceptionally busy with 2 large parties for dinner. But our food was served with a smile and on time. We'll done to the team who were on that night. And thanks again Steph. Look forward to visiting again.

We chose the George as it was halfway through the Devon coast to coast cycle route at Hatherleigh. We received a very warm welcome and the room to store our bikes securely overnight was excellent. Really lovely large twin room and big shower room with great shower. We ate downstairs in the pub restaurant and the food was fab, hearty and filling, just what we wanted after a long day on the bikes. Really good breakfast, all the staff were lovely.

The George is easy to find and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. This was our second time to cycle Devon Coast to Coast (Route 27) and it made for the perfect stopping off point at the end of our first day.

The wait for breakfast to be served was too long. In no way at all does this reflect on the staff. All the hotel rooms were full which created a pinch point.

Our bedroom was exceptionally elegant and comfortable. We liked the wide staircase and roomy landing - a gracious building.

In the morning it was just unfortunate that members of staff had phoned in sick and one person was trying to deal with everything. This meant we did not stay for a cooked breakfast but she was very apologetic and it was just force of circumstances rather than bad management.

A nice homely feel to it.I can’t remember the girl’s name ( Kelly)but she rang us beforehand to kindly inform us of some local event which may have impacted our stay. Fantastic customer service skills. I think it may have been the same girl who served us breakfast in the morning and made us feel very welcome. Really nice stay

Nothing

Very friendly, staff were attentive and kind to everyone ( including a lost dog) any request was promptly actioned and waiters and waitresses were cheery and happy to help. Food was delicious portion sizes were huge!

Nothing- I think it was a wonderful hotel with a very happy hard-working team.
