The Great Grubb Bed & Breakfast0

This was a brilliant find for our weekend stay. We were attending the Sea Change festival just a short walk into town. I can’t praise the staff enough! Super friendly and accommodating! The cooked vegan/veggie breakfast for me and my partner was delicious! With a lovely bowl of fresh berries to start. Oat milk with the tea/coffee, as requested. Really impressed. Comfortable stay, excellent location and couldn’t ask for nicer hosts! Sandra was very helpful with directing us to Dartington/river. Thanks! And thanks to John for his humour, knowledge of local eateries and general great hosting!

Such a wonderful stay, first contact was a call from the owners to see if I was safe as I hadn't checked in at the time I said I would. So nice that they took the time to see if I was ok. Check in was great, all useful info given and the room was clean and warm. Bed was comfy and it was cleaned/replenished everyday. I stayed for three nights for work and it was a nice place to come back to, a good nights sleep each night. The food... breakfast was absolutely stunning, hot, well presented and decent, quality ingredients. I genuinely thought the owner used to be a chef the food was that good. A warm homely feel as well so I didn't feel the need to get fully dressed in the morning and could come to breakfast in my PJ bottoms/TShirt and eat in comfort. I am back in Devon soon for work and fingers crossed they'll have availability so I can stay there again. Absolutely fab!!

The best things about the b&b were the friendly hosts and the excellent breakfast choices. I appreciated the extra special fresh fruit salad and high standard of the cooked breakfast The use of conservatory at other times was a bonus.

The location is fine if you have a car and whilst it is fairly convenient for rail travellers like myself it is a very steep uphill climb from the station and also from the bottom of Totnes town centre.

I was travelling by train and the Great Grubb was an easy walk from the station. The hosts were very warm, friendly and helpful. My room was a small single which was fine for one night but if staying longer I would have tried to book a double. The shower was easy to use (hooray!) Everywhere was bright and clean and there were some quirky touches which I really liked. The patio area was lovely and had I been staying longer I would certainly have enjoyed sitting outside. The breakfast was excellent, and I was able to have decaf tea/coffee and soya milk as requested. I felt that my hosts genuinely welcomed me and wanted me to be comfortable and enjoy my stay, which I did!

There was no outlook from my room, but as I was only there for one night this didn't really matter. One window was opaque glass and the other looked out into a little external passage area so no view,

Everything was simply PERFECT! From a genuinely friendly welcome to the facilities, the philosophy and the amazing breakfast! My room was separated from the main building but was extremely cosy and well equipped. I would expect the other rooms to be similarly equipped. Although my stay was short and I didn't benefit from those, the "communal" areas (dining room, conservatory, back garden) are available to guests, which is a bonus for a longer stay... and there's a library! Nothing appears to be too much to ask and Sandra / John are extremely friendly and will do everything to make you feel at home. Breakfast is simply amazing with a very comprehensive list to choose from and (in my case, a fabulous full British "heart attack" breakfast) is freshly cooked on request.

Nothing, really. The place is slightly remote, which is great as it's very quiet, but town center and train station are a 15' minute walk, which is perfect!

The breakfast at The Great Grubb was absolutely first class lots of options of cereals & fruit & the freshly cooked breakfast made to order was exceptional. The location was the perfect base for us to do everything we wanted & Sandra & John were the perfect hosts who made us feel so welcome & at home, they were incredibly helpful & nothing was too much trouble for them. We cannot recommend them & the Great Grubb B&B highly enough!

The only slight issue we had was the futon bed was a little on the hard side for our 9 year old daughter.

Fantastic B & B within 10 minutes walking distance of Totnes centre. Beautiful rooms, an excellent breakfast and vegetarians and dairy free were well catered for. A lovely conservatory and garden area with seating. Plenty of parking. John and Sandra were lovely and were excellent hosts with quick responses to messages and extra touches which made our stay even better. We loved the afternoon cake Sandra made for us (dairy free) and we thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Highly recommend this B&B!

Nothing - it was perfect :-)

I liked everything from the room to the breakfast. Excellent quality for beddings for instance chosen by English taste and ability to give the best for value. I was delighted by the English South Devon atmosphere because of the kind and fair care by the hosts.They managed to provide me with a delicious Vegan breakfast respecting my abstention from Tibetan Buddhist Black foods, too. I loved my stay at The Great Grubb.

The owners are marvelous - it felt as if we were staying with family. there is a lovely garden that can be viewed from the conservatory for breakfast (or enjoyed directly)

The owners are going to a well-deserved retirement soon. I hope the new owners are just as nice

What a nice B&B! Sandra and John were great hosts, very welcoming and full of useful tips on what to do locally. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and there's a beautiful garden and sitting area in the back. The highlight was the breakfast, which was high quality and quite large which was perfect for fueling our many walks nearby. My wife and I highly recommend!
