Really great staff who went out of their way to make sure we were warm enough - we did arrive in the middle of a cold snap - the coldest for three years. They brought extra bedding and a heater. We ended up not needing the heater as later on in the day the room had warmed up plenty and was nice and toasty. Being just before Christmas, there was late night shopping and lots of stalls in town and it was terrifically atmospheric. All of this was right on our doorstep. We also liked the option of being able to have dinner and breakfast on the premises. Great choice of food and the breakfast, in particular, was really good. We had two dogs with us and the locals and the staff were really kind and interested in them.
Tap water was not warm enough for a bath, but the shower worked so went with that option. Radiator wasn't working in bathroom and the tiles were a little mouldy.

Staff very friendly. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent location, good food. Room clean and comfortable. Excellent housekeeping with fresh towels daily and tea/coffee making facilities. Would recommend and would definitely return if wanting to stay in Totnes again.
Some minor decor could be improved but didn't spoil our stay. Traffic noise to be expected in centre of town and when staying above pub that has early deliveries but again, didn't spoil our stay but need to be mindful of this. Otherwise, generally quiet.

My room was very nice furniture and bed wise, I didn’t have breakfast, I didn’t think it was included being as it was a pub. I was also aware that my car was parked in a public car park so I needed to get to it before the exceeded time.
I was above the area where a band were performing, I actually quite enjoyed it, but maybe someone else might have found it bothersome.I was looking for a bin in my room. There was a very small one in the bathroom.

Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Looked after my luggage after checkout for 3 hours until I needed it so I could explore the town. Very clean room, very good bath/shower, great selection of hot drinks with little milks. Excellent location. Great food also, steak fajitas with chips were very tasty :)

Lovely pub, ideally situated for all Totnes has to offer. Staff very friendly especially the barman Jack who looked after us & was lovely. We only had one lunch when we arrived which was a crab sandwich but that was really good. Towels & mugs refreshed every day. Lovely big room with huge wardrobe & a chest of drawers.
We were in Room 4 & it could have been cleaner. There we’re quite a few cobwebs on the walls, I found a used snoring strip on the bedside cabinet, ugh & the skirtings in the bathroom & pipes behind the sink could do with a good clean.

We were delighted to find this lovely , dog friendly pub in the centre of Totnes. I was impressed that they generously did not charge extra for dogs. Our room was very comfortable and attractively decorated in neutral tones. It was very clean, with a comfortable bed with nice sheets , pillows and good quality towels in the bathroom. There was a coffee machine , good sized mugs and biscuits . We ate in the pub for lunch and enjoyed our food and felt the service was good. Our room was not large but perfectly adequate. I could see that some of the other rooms were larger . I appreciated that they had very pretty hanging baskets outside the pub , which I could see from our bedroom window. We will definitely return to stay there, not just because of the location , but because we thought it was very clean, attractive and good value.
There were only two small things. There was a very nice coffee machine in the room but not a kettle. This seems to becoming more common. We had bought a kettle with us , always do , so we used our own kettle for tea and instant coffee . There was only one mirror which was in the bathroom . This was too high for me, on either hook , but I was able to remove it and hang it on the back of the door. It seems odd that there was not a mirror in the room. It means that if someone is using the bathroom there is not a mirror for the other person to do their hair or makeup in the bedroom.

Lovely staff, very accommodating. Comfortable bed, clean linen. I was delayed on the train and the staff kindly arranged a meal to be waiting for me on my arrival. Thank 😊 you
Noisy generator above room. A few attention detail tweaks: Mould around bath, a mirror is needed in the room. a hook for robes in bathroom, carpet needs cleaning. These are only minor things.

The bartender was amazing nothing was too much trouble for him. We had a meal at the pub which was delicious too. The beds & bedding were extremely comfortable & the ladies attending to the rooms were kind & friendly. Lovely hot shower & plenty of wardrobe space. A great location set right in the centre of Totnes. All in all a lovely stay.
I would have liked a mirror/portable mirror in the room & not just the bathroom so I could use it whilst styling my hair & putting on make up. The ensuite bathroom was a little tired but was perfectly acceptable for our needs. If you are staying in Totnes for a few days you need to consider parking, it's horrendous! Arrive early or you will be searching for a space. There are many car parks but they fill up quickly.

Very clean and comfortable room in a great location. We went out to a party so came back late but access was simple to get back into the room.
It is a shame that check out was at 10 am but that breakfast wasn’t available until 10? Yes it’s a pub and I understand not serving breakfast until 10, but surely they could make check out 11 so you could have brekky before checking out!?! This is particularly as there is no onsite parking.
