The location is great. We were at the front of the hotel overlooking the Bull Inn, which was very noisy but it was a holiday and the weather was amazingly warm so there were lots of people there. The hotel and staff were great. Our only disappointment was with the breakfast. The Spanish influence ruined the food and they should offer local produce to enhance the stay as we were in Wales after all. If the breakfast had been more traditional we would have rated our stay perfect.

The breakfast was not compatible with the area and ambiance of this beautiful 12th Century monastery.

Lovely location a short distance from Newport, in a charming village. Very pretty looking hotel, lots of history and character, with mature gardens. The room was nicely appointed, comfortable, clean and quiet. There were two full bottles of water and nice smelling toiletries. Glad to see that these weren't in those silly little bottles as they are wasteful and bad for the environment. Good amount of parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a cute little shop on site that sells lovely scented candles and a variety of interesting cooking ingredients. Breakfast had a Spanish theme which was very different and enjoyable. Lovely sourdough bread and granola served with fruit compote and yoghurt. Would stay again, felt very at ease here.

Our room was quite warm, although there was a fan which helped.

The hotel itself and inside their area was absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of parking and we didn't have to pay any extra for that. We loved walking into our room and it was already warm, there was some classical music playing on the radio, it was clean, and had a nice scent. It was very comfortable. They had pretty good breakfast choices and a nice environment.

It was hard to find them at night time, I think they could do a better job at providing some sort of visual to alert to their entrance better. We arrived on a Saturday night and they stop serving food so early, at 9pm. The places around them also stop serving even earlier. We had to order food from a different town to be able to eat that night. As much as I liked the scent when we walked in, it became a little too overpowering since I am allergic to floral scents.

This is a wonderfully historic building with a great garden in which to relax with drinks. The meals have a distinctively Spanish style, particularly breakfast. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent where you go up to the cold counter to view the daily menu and the fresh produce. There are plenty of other places to eat nearby. We could only get a standard double room which was very nice but we're hoping to return and stay in one of the deluxe rooms in the future. There's plenty to see in walking distance, we filled one day just visiting the roman sites and local attractions.

The over-bath shower could have been more adaptable but that's just me nit picking. Oh, and the extra weight the scales reported on my return :^(

The location. The restaurant.

The service at breakfast was lazy . We weren’t offered orange juice or additional coffee’s. We complained about the sausages being “on the turn” the waitress was going to have a word with the kitchen but never got back to us. We cancelled the 2nd morning breakfast and told the duty manager why. She was going to sort but never got back to us. We were charged for our second breakfast because that was how it was booked. Not pleasant!!!! Still no feedback from the hotel.

Great location in this small town. Lunch reservation unavailable (disappointment) so went to the pub opposite. Initially given a small double with an ensuite whos window opened into the kitchen extract. The room smelt badly of smoke and burnt food. We asked to be moved and they obliged immediately, upgrading us to a cottage room with small garden - this was amazing and truly worth an upgrade cost. Lovely linens and coffee machine, good selection of teas too. Would return to the upgraded room.

Breakfast was poor, limited choice and small portions. 1st coffee was included, 2nd had to be paid for.

Beautiful garden with a nice terrace to enjoy a drink. Plenty of space available on their private parking lot. We had a very nice and very large room, including both a standalone bath, a walk-in shower and even a private little garden.

The kitchen was extremely slow. We had to wait a (very) long time for both our dinner as for the afternoon tapas on the next day. It was asvertised they had EV-charging possibilities. On arrival it appeared they only had 1, and it's only a 3kw charger, which is extremely slow. Another guest was already plugged in and he needed the entire night to get his car charged. For a hotel and restaurant this big & pricey, I would have expected faster (and more) chargers... However, the staff was friendly enough to let us charge our car after we had checked out and while we were visiting the town.

Having stayed at the Priory several times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it I was pleased to see how well the revamp had turned out, as we stayed one night only our room on the first floor was compact and trés bijou, very comfortable bed and we had every facility we needed. Exemplary staff with seemingly infinite patience.

Sad to find the curtains in disarray letting lamplight into the room at night something that should have been spotted and remedied prior to arrival. Some toasted chiabatta with our 10 a.m. breakfast too hard to eat.

The room was pretty with a nice view over the garden. Lovely well kept grounds & nice place to eat or just have drinks outside. Breakfast was nice - especially liked the French toast! Location was good for exploring Caerleon by foot or driving to Cardiff for shopping. Also only 5 mins drive from ICC.

There could have been a small fridge in the room. Strange plumbing! The hot water tap was too hot. The cold water tap was warm to hot. Corridor & stair carpets were quite marked but these were just small things that could be overlooked.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Priory. Once again, everything was faultless. If you can, stay in room 22 and take a bath looking out over the lovely gardens. You won’t be disappointed. Our evening meal and breakfast were both excellent. As always, the staff couldn’t be more helpful or friendly. We will most certainly be returning in the summer to sit outside and enjoy a drink in the peaceful surroundings.

If you find fault with anything here then you really must be extremely fussy! Everything was superb.
