ibis budget Newport

This is a really really good hotel. And very cheap price. Newport is amazing city. I arrived early and was allowed into the room. Very friendly, polite, cheerful staff, Thank-you all, it was a truly lovely experience. The room has everything you need, perfect for my long stay. Hot shower, beautiful crispy white cotton sheets. Kettle, tea coffee milk etc, excellent set up. Tv was just perfect for my needs. Wifi with really strong signal. Elevator, car park. Local taxi is so good and the people of Newport very friendly. I highly recommend this hotel *****

Couldn't find any faults, better than all the other places I stayed, I will come back again in the future.

location was perfect , you can look out of the window and wave at the traffic on the m4 but surprisingly with the window shut you couldn't hear a thing , open the window and yes you can hear It but not as loud as I though it would be, so slept really well, didn't hear anything from neighbouring room or doors banging which makes a change, the soundproofing must be really good. Bed had a mattress topper and was actually really comfy, toilet was very low my mum found it difficult getting up with bad knees, shower was nice and powerful, could be a problem if you was sharing a room with a work colleague as there is no privacy when you get out the shower as its like a shower cubical not actually a bathroom. for the price for one night its worth every penny, the rooms are basic but clean and that's what matters.

The staff were all lovely, we felt welcome from the moment we entered the premises. My cat was comfortable throughout the trip, and the design of bed meant that she had a safe little tunnel to move around while I had friends and family in my room. We'd booked for a few guests as my sister was getting married nearby. Everyone that stayed loved their time there and we all had such a great experience! I know that my friends are considering staying again in the future, if they ever need to visit New Port, or Cardiff. My cat enjoyed the view from the window, and I really liked the different lighting options in my room. Everything I needed during my stay was accessible and the staff were very accomodating of all of us.

Finding the parking area for the hotel was a little confusing, especially after the long drive from Manchester (with a toddler and a cat in the car). It can only be accessed through another car park in a very roundabout way.

I had an accessible room as I’m disabled, the room was clean and well maintained by the staff. We had clean towels and extra tea/coffee daily with all rubbish removed. Very accommodating staff that made us feel welcome from the beginning, I have become a regular at the ibis for this reason.

There can be an issue with disabled parking as anyone seems to take the spaces regardless of disability but they did cone off a space for us as we needed to be near the entrance for wheelchair purposes. Can not fault the staff for this very accommodating and appreciated by myself.

although the room is basic .. it met all the objectives ... it was clean and very tidy. The best part of then hotel is the staff. Very friendly and always there willing to help. Staff were very easy to chat with and always with a smile. The staff made the stay very easy and agreeable and very comfortable. Excellent staff.

the heating system is generalised for the hotel which means that we could not regulate the thermostat individually the room .. it was have the thermostat turned ON or turned OFF !! sometimes the rooms due to size are very HOT .. and you need to open the windows. !!

Much cleaner than I expected at a budget hotel and a well designed room that made the most of limited space. The bed was so comfortable I stripped back the sheets to find out what it was. Pleased to find a mattress topper and protector. It was very quiet, even though I could see the motorway from my window. I stayed 3 nights and slept really well. An easy walk into the centre of Newport. It took 35 minutes. I also liked the green ideas - it was good to have a card to hang on the door handle so that housekeeping don't have to come in every day. I can make my own bed and do without clean towels if it keeps the price down and gives me reward points! (Though I hope housekeeping staff are still paid for a full shift).

Only minor issues - one of the light switches over the bed glowed at night so I had to prop something over it to cover it up. A toilet brush would be a useful addition.

The staff were amazing! Friendly check in staff, house keeping staff and breakfast staff too. The woman on at breakfast looked like she had a lot to deal with and all with a smile on her face, what an asset to your business!! Breakfast was a pleasant surprise though not hot, which wasn't stated. Location was exactly what we wanted too.

The toilet and shower are separate. Which is helpful however the shower is in the room and this meant there was less privacy if travelling with family or friends as you had to take your clothes off in the room. Shower head was also stuck so the shower sprayed everywhere when opening and closing the door. Once in the shower was good. Bunk bed hard to climb up to, could do with some handles somewhere. There was noise from the motorway but we wanted somewhere close to it

Staff were super friendly Breakfast was good and unlimited The hotel it self and you must remember it’s not a 5* hotel was actually really good the rooms was as expected and comfortable including it’s own air con (was a hot day when u stayed). The ladies on site were excellent always smiling and friendly nothing was too much trouble

1 thing I would change and that is the entrance at the front. You need to walk to back of hotel/carpark and think that reopening the front would make things easier

We had an accessible room as my husband is disabled, the handwash at the sink was empty, not a problem we had our own. The sink plug was not attached to the chain, again not a major issue, however when we showered, the floor flooded as the water ran away from the drain, my husband slipped a bit because of the water and didn’t realise he had touched the red cord. The staff responded quickly to check he was ok. We apologised but the staff were wonderful polite and friendly

Either take the empty handwash bottle away or refill it.

great location for attending a concert in Cardiff, very friendly staff, good facilities for a one night stay. I had booked a double room but asked if I could possibly have twin beds which had been arranged. right by the motorway fly over but didn’t bother us as sound proofing obviously very good. easy and cheap to get Ubers to/from Newport station. would definitely book again if going to an event in Cardiff.

overpriced but I suppose that’s because Coldplay were playing in Cardiff the night of our stay!
