New Inn by Greene King Inns

First night we were allocated Room 12 which had been adapted for the disabled, which we aren't but the room was huge. Because the place was convenient for our needs we decided to stay on and had to change room to a normal double (9). The manager was superb throughout this process. Very comfy beds. Great location for staying in the area allowing short trips out. We went to Tredegar House and Gardens in the morning and Caerphilly Castle in the afternoon.

Breakfast seemed a challenge to the chef as it took 20 mins to produce even though there was only about 8 people in the restaurant! What eventually came out though was OK.

We had booked for the night of 19th July 2023, leaving on 20th. #Upon entering The New Inn', the receptionist came across as welcoming, professional, cheerful and informative. # Though short staffed at the dining facility the staff there were very polite, helpful and respectful all all times. Excellent teamwork... ### n b. MY ONLY CONCERN.... During the morning of Thursday 20th, a visiting manager was in the restaurant.. While we were having breakfast- she was in conversation with the serving staff. She was standing above the staff, who were x2 steps below. Therefore, not on an 'equal level' and at a domineering advantage. With her arm out straight, she pointed at the young man. Her body language was rather disrespectful as he dropped his head...How rude of her!!!. I suggest she has some guidance on RESPECT, MANNERS, and education on how to providing information in a non threatening manner. Really beutifull homley place to stay staff so friendly very helpfull .. Hotel room beutifill very clean had everything needed included fan as weather was hot on my stay Got me a big Jug of Ice take to my room for the night so had ice cold drinks. Nothing was too much trouble . Fellt so at ease will definitely stay again npw I found this Lovely place ideal not fat from motorway Ideal break away or stay over if going to a Concert in Chepstow Lovely place to eat vert reasonably priced and amazing outdoor ares to sit out and have food drink. .

Rooms were OK. Small, but clean and adequate. Decent bathroom.

Breakfast wasnt good. Bar area wasn't tbe cleanest. Lots of crumbs from previous evening ( didn't see breaded mushrooms on Breakfast menu so assuming from previous night) and breakfast on seats. Sticky tables. Breakfast was, overall, a bit grim, continental choice was not the most appetising (choice or appearance). Hot water and coffee was in those pump flasks. Not the freshest way to serve drinks. Server was nice but hot food took ages. Sausages were hard. Had been microwaved. Didn't complain. Probably should have.

The room as always fine

This was my 5th stay, unfortunately the pub side of things have deteriorated over time. Tables left full of plates glasses etc, food coming out luke warm not ideal. My wife didn't want to complain as she also works in the hospitality industry and knows how hard it is to recruit good staff at the moment but would like to bring it to YOUR attention. The hotel room was really hot and no matter what setting the thermostat valve was on it didn't change, so to make it bearable we slept with the window wide open. The pub side was like a fridge, people were sat in there coats me included to eat my meal. I know you in an ideal world everyone would use the app, but we don't live in one. Service at the bar was not great in the evening which is a little frustrating for customers.

Good parking. Bar and food. Plenty of Tea Coffee in room. Great Shower. Plenty of soap and shower gel. Ample Towels in excellent condition. Located 5 mins drive from motorway. The attached Bar is pet friendly and easy to pop out from your room if you smoke. Plenty of outside seating.

Maybe less steps for people who are not so mobile. In saying that my Mother is 91 and was okay with a little help. I hope not to mislead anyone as I did not look for mobility access. Best to check this for yourself before booking.

Room was immaculate, lovely smell of flowers but not over powering. Ladies on reception very helpful, giving us all the information on travel to Cardiff. The breakfast lady couldn't do enough for you. Restaurant was packed for a Wednesday evening, but the wait was short and the food was good.excellent value for money, I don't think they put the price up as many did for the Ed Sheeran concert. Bus stop right outside 73 to Newport 5 minutes walk to train station. Train into Cardiff Central station 15 minutes.Stadium a couple of minutes walk. Over all although outside of Cardiff it is definitely the best way to go.

Nothing, other than the dirty look some of the staff were given by the manager, whilst they were outside talking to me about the concert.

Fantastic value breakfast - freshly cooked full English ( £7.99 ) or lovely continental ( £5.50 ) . Vegan / vegetarian options available and well as smaller portion options. Clean good sized rooms . Good sized TV , and free wi-fi. Ease of free parking. Easy check in. / check out . Great staff - all polite and courteous .

Room looked a little tired and could do with a refresh . Bed was little too hard for my liking ( but not my wifes ! ) . Pillow were new , but 1 was not enough and 2 was too many . I will definitely stay here again , but bring my own pillows next time.

Reasonably priced and, considering this I was astounded by the quality and cleanliness of our room. Whilst not the biggest it was probably one of the best rooms we have stayed in, and some have been classy hotels. Such helpful staff who even carried our bags upstairs when they realised i was disabled.We'll done

Only 2 sachets of milk in the room. However even though it was after 10.30pm and no members of the hotel staff were around a gentleman member of staff maybe from the pub disappeared and returned a few moments later with a small jug of fresh milk.

Staff very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was good. Location was good and quiet considering next to a road. Comfortable bed and good bathroom.

The plastering was a bit outdated and parts needed repair. Some furniture outdated as was the carpets. Bath plug looked damaged and for the shower there was a curtain that just hung in the bath. This was quite long so had to be careful not to step on it. They started with a glass divider but then stopped.
