Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor

We stayed in room 4256 which overlooked the courtyard, the room was peaceful, yes you could hear people in the corridor but that was only during the day. The bed and sofa were comfortable and spacious, I just wish there might have been more pillow choice. Oh and the aircon on a damp and humid August day was fantastic! We used the pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi, all were clean and well looked after. Yes you have to pay for parking but the car park was secure and it was less expensive than it would have been at other properties I looked at.

That I had to leave after only one day!

Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. This hotel has a great onsite restaurant, delicious food . It also has a good choice of bar food as well as a great selection of hot and cold food for breakfast. Nice facilities, and the added extra is you also get to use the facilities in the Celtic Manor Nice outside space next to the bar area. Lovely shower and wardrobe space. Room was big with plenty of storage.. The hotel was positioned well for good road links to get around .

The bar area was a little too cold at times due to the Aircon being on, this made it a little uncomfortable to sit in. Breakfast area but the hot drinks was a little too narrow and was quite congested at times and was a bit dangerous when people were trying to negotiate through it with hot drinks. It may be better to move the hot drinks or make that area wider . There were no nets in the windows which was not good for privacy and looking out the window you could see into other rooms opposite.and unfortunately saw a naked lady standing at her window. Nice choice of coffee and tea in the room but could have been improved by having bottled water .

The breakfast was amazing, especially the fried eggs. I've never had such tasty fried eggs before. It's the lil things sometimes, especially when you have to go work a long day after 😅 And it was peaceful! I don't always like hotel stays due to noice issues caused by other guests, but there were none and I slept like a log!

There did seem to be a bit of miscommunication on one day between the reception booking for breakfast and the restaurant desk, but reception sorted it out so I wasn't charged twice :) that was the only tiny thing and even then it was sorted out professionally and swiftly :)

Front of house staff were exceptionally friendly...I remember Bethany, John helped us bring our heavy luggage to our rooms which after a long journey was much appreciated. The restaurant staff were great too and one of the waitresses, was so kind to take our picture for us

On the 1st night, our bathroom smelt of urine and thus not a good feeling. I mentioned it to the breakfast crew(the man with the ponytail and glasses) and that evening, the bathroom was cleaner. Friendly staff at the bar...the beautiful black lady was warmly welcoming and served us with a smile always - she is a credit to the team

Room service was fast and food arrived hot and fresh. Our sticky toffee pudding dessert was still very cold as the ice cream was in tact. I wish to point out that the sticky toffee pudding was fantastic and will order it again in future. I also want to say that the hotel and our room was exceptionally clean and tidy. I am recommending this hotel to family and we would love to stay again, as our time was absolutely wonderful.

The only thing I will mention is the pay to park carpark at the hotel. I understand why you may charge for parking but I was unaware of this extra charge prior to booking a room with yourselves.

I loved the decor throughout the whole property. Rooms were really comfortable and overall we had a great time. The only let down was waiting time in the restaurant. We were seated way before other people and we were overlooked, they were all getting served before us so I went to the bar myself to get us drinks. Also with a baby in tow past her bed time it did make it a little more awkward. It was actually our honeymoon, that's the reason for our stay with you. The other problem we found was the fact that there was no lift. We had to lift the pram up and down the stairs on every occasion we went to the room.

On ground floor, no privacy as seating outside, all can see in so I would suggest privacy blinds. The chap who served us on Thursday eve was super so please commend him. Perhaps he could train the staff?! Food in Rib Restaurant extremely bland, over priced & very limited choice. More vegetables/fish would be a great option. Car parking charges are unacceptable, never had this in any hotel!!??

The staff member who checked us in (possibly Kirsty) was excellent. We were staying there for a concert in Cardiff, we shared our concerns about traffic getting into the city. Kirsty used excellent local knowledge and suggested we get the train instead. This saved a huge amount of worry and stress. The room was lovely and it was perfectly cool thanks to the air on which was so important as we stayed during a heat wave. The next day we enjoyed a lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. We took the opportunity to use the pool which was excellent, a really nice size and very well looked after.

Free parking would have been a bonus but not a big deal.

The staff went above and beyond to help me after booking the stay after my surgery. So much so, that after going back into surgery today (26.04.23) I have re booked for another 3/4 nights to recover in peace and cleanliness away from home. Coldra court is a home away from home for me. And my GO TO booking for post surgery. Room service is fantastic, with quick delivery and them being extremely accommodating. We also used the facilities and restaurants where we were attended to with care, smiles and all in all great service all round.

There is nothing to dislike about staying at Coldra court.

Helpful staff, particularly the guy who squeezed us in for the evening meal when the online booking app said full (you can also get food at the bar). Very good quality and tasty food. Good facilities and space in general meant it was a nice place to hang out and you didn't feel the need to get out as soon as you leave your room like most hotels. Very comfortable room and beds. Free use of pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna (and presumably the gym) was a godsend and unexpected. The kids loved the pool and it really made the stay a cut above your usual premier inn type experience. Even little things like the changing room lockers being bigger than normal pool lockers so you don't have to cram stuff in. Or this funny little machine in the changing room which could dry your swimming costume (like a salad strainer) which my kid thought was amazing. Yes it was more expensive than your standard options, but better value for money in my opinion, the whole was greater than the sum of its parts.

Check in was slow. Weird pre charging of card on checking in just in case you incur expenses. Having to book breakfast and dinner online beforehand was unusual particularly breakfast and that might catch some people out. Having to download an app if you want to check out virtually. Paying for parking is always annoying and I don't think it's discounted enough for guests.
