The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was good.

The kitchen could not provide me with gluten-free food for dinner. I had to get take away food from another restaurant and bring it back so I could eat with my family. The following day they were able to provide me with gluten-free bread so I could have breakfast. All of the staff should be trained about intolerance and allergies. I am cealiac so it is very important to avoid some ingredients but I also need to eat. The waterfront restaurant nearby was where I bought food and there were lots of gluten free option. This is not a life style choice for me it is a diagnosis.

What is there not to like it was outstanding from the minute we arrived till our departure we were relaxed and happy it is a lovely Hotel rooms are spotlessly clean and modern the bed was so comfy the decor was really modern. A really nice touch was a complimentary bottle of IPA craft beer from Hook Norton Brewery who own the pub.Joseph the Manager who is also the chef Is really excellent and has developed a really friendly team resulting in a great atmosphere. The food is excellent well presented tasty and the delicious home made scones, breakfast sets you up for the day. The Lounge area is comfortable with the woodburning fire and the locals speak to you creating the atmosphere. Well done Joseph & team. We cannot wait to return thank you. Sandra & Andrew Kealey

There was nothing we didn't like.

Country pub serving good food and well located for exploring. Cosy room which had good facilities especially liked having filter coffee and cafetières plus a real hairdryer! Fab fluffy towels, crisp bedding and big bolster cushions . Breakfast cooked to order and fast service. Free parking welcome. Staff very welcoming and check in/out easy and quick

Noisy as old building so squeaks from floors and early morning cleaning. Impractical mirror in room which was above dressing table but placed to high to be useful when sitting. Low pressure shower. As expected for type of building.

From the minute we arrived we were greeted with amazing service.The manager booked us in told us of all the amenities available. Our room was very welcoming, clean & loved the quirky extras in the room refreshments complimentary water & a beer. We had amazing food & drink in the restaurant & all staff were brilliant & very friendly Breakfast was 8.00 but we needed to leave at 8.15, so we asked if we needed to book for 8.00. Before I could finish the manager immediately said is 7.30 ok for you. Wow I was taken aback,that he'd gone out of his way to ensure we had our breakfast as we had to leave earlier We came down for breakfast & wow again he couldn't do enough, more coffee etc as we only wanted toast & not a full breakfast etc do you want a bacon sandwich to take for later. We stayed for the weekend & I must say I have never stayed anywhere else before, where you totally felt that nothing was too much trouble & always having first class service with a great manager & team We will definitely be returning & thankyou for making our weekend so special.

This is a really lovely pub to stay at. The room was perfect - enough space and a mixture of olde pub charm and quirky disco design. Even though it was upstairs at a pub it was wonderfully quiet all three nights we were there. They had just introduced a new menu and we had the choice of delicious ‘gastro’ dishes or old favourites like fish n’ chips. Staff were really lovely and the continental brekky was finished with a fine cafe latte. Benson is a lovely village and easy to get to by Oxford Bus line. Would love to go back

Excellent and friendly staff at check in and check out. There’s a separate access which, once you have your key, means flexibility any time and it’s right by the car park so easy for cases. It’s stairs to one floor so some people may need assistance. The room was wonderful. Bright and clean and very functional. There was a desk, hanging area for clothes and the shower was great. The bed was lovely and there was already an extra blanket in the room.

Stairs/entrance is a little worn and noise can carry outside the rooms, but not much more than most hotels really. I would recommend some side curtains as the light can catch you early in the morning when it hits your pillow. That’s just a tiny thing though and it was only because the bed was sooo nice I didn’t want to get up.

We were charged more for a standard double room ( which was so small you couldn’t get out of bed on both sides and didn’t have any clothes storage space) than our friends for the superior double room. When we queried it with the hotel, they said we should speak to you (Booking) as you set the room prices. Aside from that the place was great, the staff were brilliant and the food and drink were decent

Very welcoming and accommodating staff, really good sized room with shower/toilet room well placed for privacy, comfortable beds, lovely shower, good breakfast.

No shower gel or shampoo was available despite this being listed in the ‘inclusions’ in the price. Instead there were 4 bottles of conditioner! Room was not thoroughly cleaned, skirtings, windowsills, bed head, carpet were dusty and long neglected. Decor is tired. Large bath dominates the bedroom space which could be better used for a twin room. Breakfast orders aren’t taken until at least 8.30 even though all guests were in the dining room well before (drinks orders were taken and served early).

What a nice place to stay with a helpful, lovely and hard working staff. Great pub and restaurant with good food and a tasty breakfast. Spacious room with bath and shower. There is a wonderful luxurious scent in the room (and the hotel) because of fragrance sticks and the soap is also of the same brand, high quality and quite expensive. Much appreciated. As a bonus: it is a Midsomer Murders location :-) Would definitely stay again.

Shower is a bit cramped and in the morning a bit noise from the street but not too much.

Lovely, relaxed, friendly and comfortable hotel. Room was was gorgeous. Bed was comfy and shower excellent. Gorgeous bath which I unfortunately didn't get time to use. Evening meal was tasty too. Had to leave early both mornings so didn't get a chance to have breakfast. Also found out they have pet friendly rooms so will definitely return with my dogs.

No milk in the bedrooms for coffee but understand theres less plastic waste this way. Won't stop me returning :)
