The welcome: both hosts were very welcoming and helpful: Michal carried our heavy bags up the two flights of stairs for us which was appreciated. Agnes was a good hostess and always smiling. The hotel was about a quarter of an hour from the Minster on foot and the free parking a major attraction. We walked on most occasions but there is a bus service but not as frequent as we would have liked. The breakfasts provided by Michal were exceptional: well-cooked and plenty of it.

Nothing really: the steepness of the stairs and two flights of them were something of a trial in our ancient decrepit state but that was accommodated by care and use of the handrail.

The hosts were so friendly and accommodating. From the minute we walked in, they were really helpful in helping us settle in and helping is with directions on where we needed to go. (The venue is genuinely 10-15 mins walk to York Minster, castle walls etc) The room and the facilities were very clean and our room was stylish. Michal and Agnes were always happy to chat and made us feel very welcomed. And as with other reviewers, we found the breakfast excellent and plenty of choice and good value for money. Would like to come again.

The only slight problem for me is that I have a bad knee and so the stairs up to the room were a bit of a challenge, but this is not the owners fault. It is an old building.

We were met by Michal in the bar area who was happy and showed us around the Inn and to our room. He gave us a local map and marked out directions on how to walk to the National Rail Museum (10/15 mins) or directly into York (10 mins). The property is in a lovely location and has a good car park at the rear with rear access to the property. We stayed in Room 2 which is on the first floor which is on the side of the property next to the road. When the window is closed, you don't hear the road noise. The room was lovely and spacious and warm. No need for the heating to be on. There was plenty of tea and coffee sachets available and some lovely little chocolates too! The breakfast was lovely and plentiful each morning. The Full English was filling and so was the cheese and mushroom omelette. Both really tasty. There was plenty of tea and coffee and fruit juice and toast to keep us going all day, all cooked by Michals wife Agnes. Lots of options to choose from too. You won't go hungry! We did have a drink in the bar on our last night. It was lovely and quiet and great to unwind. It was only open til 8pm each night, which was fine for us.

The bed was a lovely size but incredibly hard and on one side it sunk so I felt I was limited on how I slept but otherwise, it was ok to sit on. The bathroom was a bit small and sometimes the the plug in the sink would get stuck and not drain the water away.

Great location. 10 minute walk from centre. Free car parking was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable. Outdoor areas to sit out and bar.

Cooked breakfast was lovely but cereals, yoghurts, fruit etc had to be asked for and everyone that came to breakfast was looking for the buffet items so maybe put a small cabinet with those items on or remove buffet option from the menu as very confusing. We booked a King room but got a Double with v small Bathroom. Little disappointed as wanted more space. Bar closed at 8pm and had lovely outdoor area so would be nice to have a drink later.

Layout was great - staying with 2 young children often means we have to go to bed when they do but here there was a subsection to the room meaning we could close the door and watch TV (in bed obviously!) We we’re up on the 2nd floor- lovely and quiet. Free Wi-Fi - worked well with 3 or 4 devices attached at once. Warm shower. Kettle, tea & coffee supplies in room (Yorkshire tea = great :-) Nescafé not so much - a minor criticism that the little chocolates made up for!) Great location - 10 minute walk into the city (20 with a 3 year old that likes to climb on walls) Car parking round the back meant we could leave the car whilst we went off to explore for the day.

When we booked on here it didn’t give any information about breakfast - we took supplies so the little ones could eat but it smelled like they did do a lovely breakfast on site. I wish we’d been told this beforehand.

Clean and friendly. Nice breakfast, good real coffee. Plenty of parking available. Short walk to York attractions.

WiFi code could be in the room, to save hunting in the bar for it. Did not respond to email asking if they had received payment.(see below). First time using Booking.com was not a pleasant experience, the process was as clear as mud. But this is not the property's fault.

Room spacious, clean, comfortable beds and top-notch shower room. We ordered breakfast which was delicious and at a reasonable extra cost. It is situated on the corner of Burton Stone Lane and Clifton (A19) about 0.75 miles from the City Centre. Hosts Agnes, Michal and staff very friendly, helpful and informative. We visited The National Railway Museum, met up with the family at the Star in the City (Lendal Bridge}, and finished off with 'A cruise on the Ouse'. All fabulous.

Nothing to dislike.

Welcoming, run by a fantastic couple who were really helpful and drew on a tourist map showing us where all the places we wanted to visit were and the best shortcuts to take. Breakfasts were amazing, all locally sourced ingredients and cooked to perfection. Our room was clean, comfortable and well stocked with tea, coffee etc. There was spare bedding in the room in case we were cold. The shower room was sparkling and fully stocked with soap, body wash, cotton wool balls, cotton buds etc. Will definitely stay there again.

The only thing we didn't like was the mattress which was very hard.

Good spacious room with everything one would need for a short stay. Comfortable bed, large warm bathroom with bath and shower and lots of towels. Tea, coffee and fridge. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The hosts, Michal and Agnes were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The location and car park was a definite bonus as one could walk into the city in ten minutes and leave ones car in safety. Good breakfasts with a wide choice.

It would have been good to be able to choose one’s own cereal, juice etc at breakfast. Everything was brought from the kitchen. Also, I would suggest warming the plates would keep the excellent breakfast warmer for longer. The bar is only open from 4 to 8pm, but this probably wouldn’t bother most people.
