Inn By the Bay Monterey

Room was spotless. Price was right.

The cleaning solution used on the room was very pungent. I had to air out the room for a couple hours on a chilly day before it wasn't an issue. I suggest they use a different cleaning solution, perhaps Simple Green, which is non toxic. Also, I left a Playmate cooler which I've owned for a good 40 years and when I asked the clerk at the office if he could package it up and send it to me -- at my cost -- he stated he could not "leave the office" and send anything. I'm deciding whether to just wrote it off as a loss or ask for a higher authority at the hotel to deal with it.

Our room was newly renovated, clean, spacious, neutral color, had a microwave and mini refrigerator, a king size bed with modern wood headboard, large wall mounted T.V., photographic art on the walls, light blocking shutters on the window, hard surface flooring, can lights in ceiling. We didn't have to pay for property amenities that we didn't use. Simple, clean, pleasing, economical.

Suggestions: bathroom barn door looked great but was sticking and difficult to operate (room 2), there were small stains on the white bed covering, the bathroom fan was VERY loud, the can lights were very bright. A dimmer or small lamp would be great for low light. The exterior entry doors needed touch up paint, the numerous plant pots had tacky fake faded flowers that cheapened the feel of the hotel. Why not low maintenance succulents or flowers?

Inn by the Bay is ideally located and in a great neighborhood. I loved the TV service! Not only were we offered cable TV but also several streaming services as well. Made the stay much more personalized and comfortable.

The floors could have been cleaner, in particular the bathroom. I felt that there were corners in the bathroom that hadn't been properly cleaned in a while (dust and dirt in nooks around the trash can and toilet).

First night room accommodation was not as pictured at booking, but hotel gladly changed us to another room, which had been recently remodeled and was very nice. Hotel is in great location within walking distance to wharf, restaurants and coffee cafes and shops.

Parking was a bit tight ok for cars not as easy for extra large truck but it worked out.

Room was clean and appeared to have been fairly recently updated. Beds were very comfortable. Front Desk person was friendly and helpful on checkin. We appreciated having a refrigerator and microwave as well.

There did not appear to be any thermostat or HVAC control in our room (#1). It did feel a little chilly and we were surprised there was not anything we could do to adjust the temperature. The rate seemed a little high for what it was but I think that was a reflection of the local market/area.

It was great especially since it had a small balcony and there was no room below us so we weren't disturbing anyone when we got up.

The parking lot is to small especially when big trucks are there and the back side of the lot is all empty but I parked in the back and balcony let me see the car from there

I liked that the sheets smell clean and the TV offers various channels to watch.

the bathroom fan makes a lot of noise and turns on automatically when you turn on the light (I didn't like that part, the ceiling bathroom had mold (yellow color) the bathroom sink faucet was loose and dirty, the plunger was on a black bag has no aesthetics, the room did not have an extra garbage can and they do not offer breakfast. the pillows are very soggy, my room doesn’t have Shampoo , conditioner and Body wach .

Hotel is great overall. Clean & easy walking distance to restaurants.

The booking website stated it was pet friendly but did not state that there is a nightly charge for each pet. I was surprised during my check-in since it was not stated that charges would incur. It would be good to know in advance and especially during booking. However the pet fee/charge was reasonable.

The room we stayed in (26) was very clean and recently remolded. Everything looked pretty new and the room had all the basic amenities you would need for a site seeing weekend stay. I would definitely recommend for anyone who is wanting to be close to the main Monterey sites and who will be out most of the day. The location is good and the are is quiet and we felt safe there.

The parking lot is pretty tight and there isn’t a pool.

Very well located. Accommodating if you have a pet. Rooms have been renovated with a big bathroom and shower. The room includes a small fridge, microwave, and small coffee maker. Lots of plugs with USB

No individual lightning on top of bed. Office said it opened at 8:00 AM but was not opened at the time we left but they did answer the phone so we could check out.
