Hotel Abrego

I had a great stay at Hotel Abrego. The hotel is right at the edge of the downtown of Monterey, and it's really easy to walk into the downtown area to go to restaurants and the beach. The hotel staff was also always very friendly and accommodating. The room was great, too, with a huge bathroom and very comfortable bed. The breakfast here is great also, in my opinion. They have a continental breakfast with eggs, potatoes, pre-made breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and the usual.

No major complaints

Everyone was no nice and hospitality was great! The room was wonderful. Nice, clean with exceptional service. Breakfast was provided every morning with great selection of eggs, potatoes, cereal, fruits, yogurt and breakfast burrito. But the best part is the hotel is it's location. Centrally located and walking distance to downtown and attractions like Fisherman's Wharf. Easy access to freeway and a short drive away from Carmel by-the-sea. Would definitely stay there again.

A lovely hotel, clean and cosy. The staff really helpful and attentive. Our room was big enough for a family of 4, beds comfortable. We really liked the lobby/bar area with a fire place and a couple of tables where we could eat dinner (a la cart) or relax drinking wine (a complimentary glass of wine was a lovely surprise). There is a swimming pool which looked really nice but we didn't use it.

We liked our stay and there wasn't anything really that we disliked. I only had a thought that some shalves or a chest of drawers in the bathroom would be really useful. Also breakfast wasn't the greatest. There was nice musli with fruit and yogurt and chia mix though.

Very clean, easy to find, FREE parking, great bar/lounge, FREE WiFi, pool, work out room, hot tub, and comfy (I’m a side sleeper) bed. Felt high end (better than a Hilton) with an amazing bathroom and such an affordable rate. Close to highways, gas food, and just far enough from the excitement to get a good nights rest. At checkin, the woman at the desk noticed I was walking with a limp (I hurt my leg pretty bad earlier in the day), so she automatically moved my room to an elevator accessible floor and I didn’t even need to ask! Thank you so much it really was a lifesaver!

Walls were thinish, but not a problem for sleep. Coffee cups were not wrapped or replaced from previous guest. there was coffee splash on the cups.

The property was clean and well maintained. We liked that the parking lot was open and not an underground garage. Staff was really great! Very attentive, very hospitable. Liked that we were greeted with a smile. In general, it was a quiet place.

This is something out of our control but the walls are thin. Couldn’t hear talking but could hear the flushing of the toilets and the showers turning on. Unless you are on a top floor, you will hear people walking above you. One last thing that was kind of annoying was that the sink took forever to drain. If you barely turned it on to wash your hands, it’s full of water. Also, location right off the street is sometimes hard to access if there’s a lot of traffic.

Stayed here for two nights with family (incl a 3yr old child) in mid September - definitely felt safe in the area and at the hotel property. Room and bathrooms were very clean and well-maintained. WiFi working well. The room (21xx) had an Ethernet port as well (for wired Internet). Shower had good water pressure. We received a voucher (for every person staying, for every night) for free drinks at the attached Bistro. The voucher gets you a glass of a house red or house white wine (whatever they decide to pour that day) or a non-alcoholic beverage (juice, club soda, etc). This gets your foot into their restaurant which offers a nice selection of dinner dishes such as steak and shrimp tacos, roasted chicken, and other "boutique" dishes. The property has a small gym with treadmills, a stationary bicycle (the seat-back type) and a multi-purpose cable/resistance training station. There is also a business hub with a computer and a printer. I haven't had a chance to use either of the amenities. Parking on site was free.

I would have really loved if the hotel gym had a more professional stationary bicycle (like a Peloton) and dumbbells. As well, the breakfast on our second morning was subpar (breakfast sandwiches), compared to breakfast the night before (eggs, bacon, waffles); the hotel staff told me they were short-staffed that morning. The shower in our room (don't know if that's the case for our rooms) cannot be tuned to cold - a problem for those who like cold showers.

Beautiful, clean and quaint property in a walkable location to Wharf and restaurants We stayed on top floor in main building with elevator. Wonderful staff both at front desk and housekeeping - very friendly and accommodating. We told them it was our 11th wedding anniversary and they upgraded our room! Ernie and another young woman at the front desk were especially helpful and sweet giving suggestions with a map of things to do in the area. Even recommended a restaurant across the street (Great Wall - excellent Chinese food) for dinner the day we arrived. They also had a beautiful note and truffles for us when we returned from dinner in honor of our wedding anniversary. The pool area is a little small but very clean and enjoyable. Breakfast was simple breakfast sandwiches or burritos, potatoes, cereal, mini bagels and pastries. Enough to get you started. We would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again.

The amenity fee to park, for pool, breakfast etc. should just be rolled up and added into the cost of the room as every one has to pay it. It is an older property so not 100% sound proof and you may hear (at times) your neighbors. Not to the point of needing to register a complaint just noting that for a couple of hours it was a nuisance- but guess it could happen at any hotel. It only happened once during our 4 day stay.

I dont even know where to begin with how much I enjoyed our stay. We arrived later than we had planned and were tired from the long drive. We were greeted with a free upgrade, and the room was beyond my expectations of comfortable. The bed was cozy, the room was homey, the shower was spacious and very clean. My only real complaint is that I thought it was weird that they didn't have a microwave in the room -- we wouldn't have even used it, just something small and different that I had noticed. But even with that, the staff were so kind that if I called the front desk, I'm sure they'd heat it in the kitchen for me. This hotel is bang for your buck. Its not the cheapest, but it's 100% affordable and welll worth the cash. We ended up extending our stay an extra day because we loved it so much, and it was my birthday. Hotel Abrego will hold a special place in my heart from now on!

I traveled for work and the room was very comfortable and yet spacious enough to spread to do some work when I came back for the night. The proximity to Downtown was really great, and it was wonderful to be able to come back and relax in the hot tub at the end of the day.

I liked being able to go workout before my morning started. I think a little more care and cleaning could have been done in the exercise room. It was functional, acceptably clean, and definitely met my needs, but it was also clear that this was not the focus of the hotel.

I had never stayed in a room with a fire place. The breakfast was delicious had a good variety. The wine was a treat that we didn't expect.

I didn't dislike anything, Hotel Abrego exceeded my expectations. I will tell all my friends and family to stay at this hotel when traveling to Monterey or Carmel.
