Sonesta Simply Suites Detroit Ann Arbor

We were put off at first by the HUGE potholes leading up to the property, the 4pm checking (“oh, you can check in early for 15 dollars”-we arrived at 3:15), the tiny, strange lobby, the unpleasant smelling halls…but when we got to the suite it was great! Comfortable, well equipped, everything we needed was there in the small kitchen area. Good work space, comfortable bed, lots of towels, good heating/cooling system. I will go there again. NOTE: our room was ADA: had a roll-in shower, grab bars around the toilet, low hooks and door safety lock, mirror. But the front doors of the building don’t open automatically, nor does the room door. A solo wheelchair traveler would not be able to reach any of the kitchen items or access the fridge.

Lobby, smelly hall, sticky bathroom floor and slippery shower due to the type of cleaning products used. Hate a 4 pm check in, and 5 dollar parking fee.

I thought the hotel was exceptional. I booked it not knowing what it be like for a visit I made to the U of M. The staff were incredibly pleasant. The room was a suite, complete with a small fully equipped kitchen including ice machine in the refrigerator. The room had a large desk area if your needs were business related, a comfortable lazy boy type chair. The bed was so comfortable. The room had been cleaned and sanitized with a courtesy note left from the housekeeper. It was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in with affordable pricing.

This is an inexpensive hotel that meets all requirements for a cost effective stay in Ann Arbor. Staff was unusually friendly and helpful and the rooms have everything you would want including desk space to do some work and a comfortable chair for reading and watching TV. It is located close to a shopping center with a Whole Foods so you can pick up snacks and groceries

Of course I wish it was within walking distance of the Ann Arbor campus but that location is much more pricey

No breakfast provided but there was an excellent fridge and dishes so we purchased what we needed for a good breakfast each day. The room was spacious.

The first room we were in smelt strongly of dog. This is a very pet friendly facility. They moved us that day to a room that did not have that odor problem. They did that quickly and easily.

This is a very clean place to stay and they have a nicely equipped gym room. Staff is friendly and responsive. Small kitchenette and basic appliances are available in a suite.

Some odors from old times can still be smelled when you enter a room. Fridge is a bit noisy and sound isolation could be better. I lived in a room that was separated by a locked door and I could hear voices from the room next door.

the room was clean, very big and comfortable. The small kitchen was perfect for preparing small meal or warming up leftovers. the building itself has seen some wear and tear but it looks like they have done a lot of remodeling recently.

we had our room next to the stairwell and it was very loud. startled me awake in the morning when someone ran up the stairs. Not a ton of sound proofing in the walls

Friendly, welcoming, relatively convenient to the Michigan stadium. comfortable, clean beds, clean kitchen, clean dish towels, plentiful bath towels. enjoyed the coffee maker & free breakfast treats.

Didn’t enjoy waking up and opening the curtain to see a guy smoking a foot away. Floor was a bit dirty and there was a layer of dust on the bathroom shelf. Location was a bit hidden. Very high price for this room but it was a football weekend.

It was nice and spacious, staff were extremely friendly, and the available facilities were great! The private kitchen was well equipped and the working desk in the room was great.

Even though the bathroom was amazing, the water pressure was quite low, and the bathtub outlet was a bit unstable in my room. Nothing too serious though, it didn't take away from how comfortable the room is in general.

I called 3x to get directions for Ryan who answered all 3 times.. Ryan WAS SO PATIENT AND KIND TO ME and I really appreciated his patience with me. He checked me and was super nice .. Kellun at the front desk was also super duper nice. I WILL SAY THAT EVERY ONE THERE IS AWESOME! I will again say how terrific Kellun is.. he helped me with an extra swipe carrd for my room and i misplaced the remote (was in the closet) and he helped me with that.;. even offered to help me with in the room if i wasnt able to program the remote by myself as he wrote down the instructions. The housekeeper I saw in the hallway was very kind as well. ALL OF THE STAFF were so genuinely friendly and kind!!! I as also pleasantly surprised that the washer and dryers were of no charge as well. HOW COOL ALSO the snacks that were available to buy and also the HONOR SYSTEM.... if you didnt have cash you could get something and fill out the chit and have billed to your room., THIS HOTEL IS AMAZING~! and I will recommend Sonesta Suites to anyone i know who will be staying at a hotel. I truly enjoyed my stay. I also very much like the pet rescue beautiful artwork throughout the hotel. I HAD AN INCREDIBLE STAY

nothing could have been better. I came to Michigan to attend my Mom and Gramma's funerals and while it was a sad trip the stay at Sonesta Suites made my trip more bearable.

No breakfast at this one. But could have fixed our own. Visiting family so close by. With Sonesta purchasing this place they did a number of repairs and painting and this place that we frequented before was cleaner.

Parking could use improving . Remove the islands and make the lot more like a shopping mall. Open and unobstructed. Also they are bad at trimming their bushes and grass.
