The Kensington Hotel

Easy access to the hotel. The staff was very friendly. Great atmosphere. The room was clean. TV channel selection was good.

Executive King Suite is a bit of an overstatement of the accommodations you get. For the most part it is just a typical hotel room with a king bed. The sofa bed was awful. The bathroom is small and the front of the toilet is too close to the wall.

The room was very clean. I liked that the room had a fridge and a coffeemaker. I appreciated that they had a sign for my door to let housekeeping know I had a dog. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The outdoor courtyard was beautiful and relaxing. The location was perfect to catch the shuttle bus to the Ann Arbor Art Fair. I didn't have to deal with traffic and parking downtown.

Although the room was on the first floor, it wasn't near a door which made taking my dog out more difficult. The pet walking area was not easily accessible. We had to go out the front door and walk all the way around the building. Also, the ice machine was in a different wing so it was kind of far away.

Highly recommend. Excellent check-in--the staff member was courteous and made sure we were fully informed on the hotel and it's offerings. She even provided us a champagne toast while checking us in! The room was not large but very clean and comfortable (standard king), the shower pressure was excellent, and the a/c was a bonus--stayed cool all night and didn't turn off or moderate during the night as some places do--so we stayed very comfortable. We stayed on July 4, but the hotel was quiet. Lots of available free parking. It's near the mall and restaurants although you'll need a car to get to some of them. We were only there 1 night and had family in the area, so we didn't try the rest of the properties amenities and can't provide a comment.

Bathroom is a bit small, but very clean and adequate for our one night stay.

Front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. The Champagne reception was a welcome treat after a long journey. The room was clean and roomy. Having a fridge was indispensable. The location is alright if you hire a car or take taxies, though it is not terribly walkable to shops. There are a few corporate restaurants within walking distance.

The bed linens are a complicated mess for those accustomed to a duvet.

The chic atmosphere in the lobby extends to the rooms as well. Nice pool and workout room round out all our needs. Since covid the restaurant has had a tough time with staffing who hasn't? Still the staff are very friendly and willing to go the extra mile. It's like they've had hospitality training.

Our hallway smelled a little like mothballs, but the smell did not extend to our room. Maybe it was a cleaning product, but it wasn't devastating or a noxious level.

The beds are very comfortable and clean. The pool starts at 3 feet and goes up to 9 feet and was heated! the hot tub is very pleasant and the sauna is very nice. the workout room has a lot of nice machines! The location is right next to the mall which was awesome as well. Staff is so very friendly and accommodating as well! This stay was all around very pleasant

In the hallways the ceilings are kinda low but once you get into the room the ceilings are higher so no issue there

The Kensington is located on the South Side of Ann Arbor, close to I-94. This makes it a great location for traveling not only to University of Michigan, but also to Detroit Metro Airport, Dearborn, and Detroit (all about an easy 25-40 minute drive). The hotel is clean and the room had a mini-fridge. Several grocery stores are a short drive away for in-room necessities. Also, the room has the shower/toilet area separated from the sink area, which is helpful when more than one person is preparing for the day. The hotel has a large, indoor swimming pool, with ample areas for lap swimming and children's play simultaneously. An outdoor deck is available in the summertime. A large fitness area (in a separate room proximate to the pool) has multiple machines and free weights for cardio and strength training.

Currently, the hotel has decided to keep the on-site restaurant closed during the weekdays. Although there are other options in Ann Arbor, those in a hurry to travel to their next destination might find this inconvenient. The sauna in the pool area was inexplicably closed during our stay. Also, the hotel no longer provides a daily newspaper or afternoon/evening bar service in the lobby.

Very clean throughout! Beds/ pillows great. We had a terrific sleep. Staff was very helpful/ friendly!

The only downside was at 7:30pm the restaurant/ bad wasn’t open. We’d had a king day were hungry/ thirsty and really didn’t feel like going out. Staff were apologetic and unfortunately nothing we could do about it. That wouldn’t stop us from going back.

The staff were amazing. The lady we checked in with was so sweet and check in was quick and easy. The room was clean, the bed was soft and the fact that there was a restaurant on site was awesome

I wish the room would have had a microwave, I feel like most hotels these days do. The fridge also didn’t get very cold but it was manageable

I like how everything was accessible. Very clean and the staff made me feel very welcomed. I appreciate how it wasn’t overcrowded.

Bottled water in the rooms would have been nice. But I was just extremely thirsty and coffee or tea would’ve made it worse. However they had an a wobble mini mart to buy water so I survived.
