Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square

Check-in was seamless, and the offer of an upgrade, without cost, a pleasant surprise. The room was big enough for our needs, although 2 persons had difficulty in passing each other at the end of the bed due to the tv mounted on the wall. If you didn't have your fill at breakfast, you weren't really trying.

On departure, I asked the bellhop for a taxi to Manhattan Cruise Terminal. He said 50 bucks - I was unaware of the taxi rates in NYC and said ok. He went outside, spoke to a guy in a black unmarked car who took us to the terminal. I am now aware the cost should have been less than $15. Obviously bellhop on kickback from mates. Be aware - insist on a marked taxi or you will be ripped off.

Staff: everyone was polite and attentive! Specially Yamilka! Wow! She was awesome! Also most if not all the staff was bilingual. Breakfast: there is a whole floor for breakfast and they had everything we needed. Overall it was very good. There were 2 sections so they didnt have any lines! Rooms: even if the rooms where small, the beds were queen (not easy to find in the city for this price). Also the room even though it was small, it was comfortable ( well designed) The room had its own a/c unit! Great! We were able to choose cold or hot. We dint hear anything from the street. Facilities: they have a little market (very convenient). Also, they have a bathroom with shower in case you dont have your room or already checked out. They also hold your bags for as long as you want if needed. Location: OMG! the location is AMAZING. Right in the heart of times square. Honestly i dont think that it could be better located. 47 IS the best street because is very central! We walked everywhere ( with 2 small kids!) Value: we really hope the hotel stays at a good rate! We will definitely come back every time!! And recommend it to our friends and family. We stayed 4 nights from march 19 to 23 2022. And we payed around $1000. Great price!!! With breakfast included. Bonus: the hotel was NEW!!!!

(some of the things we didnt like were not in control of the hotel) - at the time of our stay they had construction going on and the hotel was cover by scaffoldings. So you couldnt see the entrance. - at breakfast (even though it was great), not always consistent (ex: some days perfect eggs, some days over cooked). Also it would be great if they had a way to make waffles. - bathroom door is a sliding frosted glass door and it doesnt lock. They should add a locking system. Honestly its hard to find things we didnt like!!!

The hotel was of a very high standard and the breakfast was superb! All staff was very friendly and the room was a very good size and very clean. The location was perfect - on Times Square within two mins!

Unfortunately, there are two hotels within short walking distance which are both Riu Plazas - one is Manhattan Times Square (this one), and the other New York Times Square. This confusion resulted in our pick up from the airport dropping us to the wrong hotel when we arrived (another couple not in our group also had the same problem and followed us to the correct hotel by foot) and Uber drivers also not realising - we were dropped at the wrong location three times over five days. Also, our pick-up back to the airport went to the wrong location despite our stressing about the issues with the names. So, when booking any transport be mindful of this!

I loved my view most of all! The staff was really great, I wish I could remember my favorites names so I can mention them, not sure if they cared about my packages as much as I did but at least they made me believe that they did (haha). The buffet was really nice for breakfast. The Bellman was cute even though I didn't get any help with my bags. And the doorman was helpful to me with directions which I really appreciated. I would return to this hotel if I were to travel to New York again or any where in the world.

apparently there are 2 buildings marked RIU in times square so some of my packages didn't go to the right one and I never received some of them and I also had to pay shipping for one of the items they found after I left . Very disappointed that I bought my warm clothes for the weather and sent it ahead and still had to buy additional warm clothes when I got there and didn't get any compensation for the clothes I already purchased. (oh well I guess). The phone in my room never worked so I had to go downstairs and wait in a long line for every question.

Our room was good size for two people. We had double beds, on the 19th floor with a river view. It is situated in Hell’s Kitchen which is a 5 minute walk to Time’s Square and all the theaters. The hotel is well maintained and has excellent housekeeping. The staff was attentive and security was present.

The buffet is awful. The waitstaff are rude and people are crammed in only to be served food that is of poor quality. We went once and couldn’t eat the food. The only other thing we didn’t like was you could see a a person’s silhouette when showering. It was an odd choice for a hotel that caters to families.

Check in and check out was smooth. Room was clean and comfortable. Location was a short walk to theaters, Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza and Empire State Building. Staff was pleasant.

Our reservation was changed a few days before our stay from the Riu Manhattan to the Riu New York which is classified as a “bed and breakfast” but we were only offered breakfast at an additional charge. The least they could have done was include breakfast after changing our hotel at the last minute. We had them hold our luggage for an hour after we checked out but it took 30 min for them to retrieve it and the line for luggage check was long. A group of women had waited over an hour for theirs.

Our initial meeting on admission was horrible! We were told we would have to be walked down to another hotel for 1 night, then come back to RUI for the next 5 days. This was 11:30 p.m. after traveling all day. I had called 2 days before to make desk aware that we would be a late admission. So to be told that there were no rooms at the inn made both my husband and I furious. Not a good way to start a trip. We definitely did not like that.

The Full Breakfast Buffet was totally OUTSTANDING!!!! The customer service was over the top! The Front Desk clerk that checked me in, noticed it was my birthday on the 2nd day of my stay and personally delivered to me a birthday card and candy from the hotel. The hotel was conveniently located a block away from Time Square and right in the heart of the Theater District (which was our main reason/attraction) for the weekend. There is also a very entertaining comedy club (LOL Comedy Club) right across the street. The Fashion Pub and Restaurant on the lobby floor of the hotel was outstanding! We enjoyed their happy hour cocktail specials, Fried Calamari, ad Avocado Toast!!! YUMMY!!!

I could not figure out how to adjust the heat, so it was a little chilly at night, and there was no blanket on the bed. I didn't notice a blanket in the top shelf of the closet, until it was time to check out. There was NO microwave in the bedroom or hallway; given the fact that I was on the 28th floor it was really inconvenient to have to go to the hotel lobby to use the ONE and ONLY microwave open to the public. If the did not choose to put at least a mini microwave in the rooms, they could have at least put one on every other floor in the hallways (near the ice machines) or something.

we booked the Manhattan location, 3days prior we received email that we were moved to Times Square location, then room booked was not available so had to take a smaller room, had to argue the cost difference of our room to the other travelers who booked the smaller room was $700. Finally after arguing the point Prima came to our rescue and made it right. so do not let Booking.com allow you to book the Manhattan location is still far away from opening.

Breakfast was pretty good but I think there is definitely room to improve. The temperature in the dining area was pretty cold, the food got cold momentarily, as soon as I put it on the table. Location was fantastic, 1 min away from the subway and Times Square. The room was clean, no complaints there. I loved that they provided an iron and ironing board.

We lived on the 44th floor and had to wait for the elevator sometimes for 10-15 min. The toilet in the bathroom is badly designed, uncomfortable to sit on and splashes water everywhere. I think it is overpriced, we booked our trip a year ago and we would not book it right now for the price that's 3x more.
