The Gallivant Times Square

the location was wonderful. our room was clean and comfortable.

we had an unsettling event on our last night that we didn’t feel got enough concern from front desk staff. we came home after an evening show to a black plastic glove on the desk in our room. it wasn’t there before the show…why was anyone in our room while we were gone? also a light was out. we reported it to front desk staff on day 2 of a 7 day stay..,it was never fixed.

The hotel was just fabulous. From the elite location, hotel staff, comfy beds, free breakfast …. we could not fault it. I can’t believe the amount of reviews complaining about this hotel and I’m so glad we ignored them and made our own judgement! The hotel is quite literally a stone throw from time square. Rockefeller centre up the road, Broadway is next door, Central Park 10/15 minutes… absolutely ideal. The cleaners came everyday and did a beautiful job in tidying up the room. Very friendly too. The reception staff were amazing! Hospitable and did everything to ensure our stay was satisfactory. We didn’t know we had free breakfast but all rooms can avail of free breakfast at the bar next door. Waffles, bacon, eggs, fruit, pastries galore!! We didn’t use it but we did check out the little fitness suite on the lower level which was cool. Finally, our bed was like sleeping on marshmallows. A perfect welcome home after a hectic day strolling New York City. Look, yes you will have to wait for an elevator for a little longer than expected but YOU ARE IN BLOODY NEW YORK!! it’s the same in most hotels! Embrace the gallivant and you will have a splendid time just like us.

Nothing comes to mind

Not a lot of places have a single room with affordable price the right amount of beds for families that have to travel with 3 children under age. This hotel have what I was looking for perfect location, 4 beds and a affordable price. staff was very helpful and friendly

the floor wasn’t very clean and every time someone from other rooms were using the showers, the pipes were making some horrible and very loud noise. This place is good to stay for one or two night only.

the property is located in the middle of the action being within walking distance from many popular places. housekeeping staff was nice and did a great job keeping the room clean. front desk staff was also friendly and helpful. bellman particularly was very nice handling our luggage and transportation. Best part though, hotel is right next to the Hurley’s Irish bar and restaurant which was super convenient for late dinning.

we arrived a little early and to check in early there was a $50, I travel quite a bit and this is the first time I heard of an early check in fee. room is ready or is not, simple. we were also on the 2nd floor and the view was scaffolding outside the window.

Location of this hotel is wonderful. its 5 minutes walk from times square and 50th st subway station if you are going downtown. walkable distance to top of the rock observatory which is one of my station. If you want to take any buses like grayhound then this hotel is just 15 min walk from Port Authority Bus Terminal. Rooms were just ok. I expected the size of the bed and room to be bigger but they were just quite small yet manageable. They provided room service everyday and maintained it clean. I arrived early and the best part is the hotel management allowed me an early check-in for additional $50 only which was really helpful. Overall it is a wonderful experience.

Room size was smaller. Though I booked queen bed room the bed seemed to be smaller for two ppl. bathrooms were smaller too. Cons is that the hotel is quite older compared to others. this is not a 4 star hotel but still manageable for your trip as you barely stay in the hotel

Gallivant hotel is ideal location for E subway from JFK to 50st subway station and great for time square and shows plus good food outlets on 8th avenue recommend natural food markets for hot deli. We had no problem with the hotel room It was very clean, air conditioner fine and service was great. We had room at front so hear every day NYC noise did not bother us. I think a lot of the negative reviews miss the mark I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again

Great location.

The bathroom is VERY tiny. The half glass for the shower was a very poor design. It allowed MUCH water onto the bathroom floor. Had to waste clean towels just to soak up the water. A quick easy fix would be a shower curtain inside of the half glass divider. The staff were nice but could have made us feel more welcomed. Room service is lacking A LOT. Five nights and no room service. Had to ask for fresh towels.

Location and staff friendliness and service make this an ideal stay!!! Love that I could pay a small fee to store luggage to start my city exploring on day of arrival and again on departure day after check out. All the places I wanted to go were right there, walking distance or subway access was around the corner.

The building is older and shows a lot of wear and tear, which adds to its old NY charm. Missing conviences of more modern hotels (usb outlets, fridge, microwave). The elevators were a minor issue, especially during peak usage times. The creaks and groans of elevators could be unnerving for some.

Good location … walking distant from Banking offices (JP Morgan, UBS)

Rooms are small and you can hear the noise from outside.
