Candlewood Suites New Bern, an IHG Hotel

Breakfast area was clean, food was good, liked having sausage and eggs, also cook was friendly and she made sure enough to eat and helped us if we needed help. Liked free washer and dryer use! Liked having enough pillows to sleep with, we are older and needed. We didn't have a need for this trip, but having items to purchase for extended stay and games to play was a nice perk. Liked the dog area with plenty of poop pick up items. All of staff members were friendly and helpful!!

I liked all about this hotel. Only have a suggestion, that would be a helpful would be a comment list for 1st timers, especially if staying a while. If there is one, I didnt see it and disregard my comment. For instance, that there is a free washer & dryer or what to do with food garbage if still in room during room cleaning.

The location was good for us. Plenty of dining options available. The kitchenette in the room was decent, even though we did not utilize it. It was clean and comfortable.

It's a basic hotel. No pool or breakfast. The price seemed high for just a room to sleep in.

I enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean and comfortable. It was also very close to everything.

I got into town early(around 13:40) and went in to see if I could check in a little early. I could tell immediately that the person at the desk did not like her job. She immediately told me very rudely that it was not 3:00 and no I can't get a room until then. I don't have her name but it was on Monday the 19th day shift.I understand not getting a room early, but you don't need to be rude.

The female desk clerk was friendly. Free coffee.

Manager mostly wanted only to address my older male companion. Made me feel as though he truly does not accept a woman in charge. Least motels had free breakfast items to choose from other than just coffee.

We thought we were relegated to staying at lesser hotels because we were traveling with our dogs (2). We were pleasantly surprised with Candlewood suites. The front desk staff was super friendly and welcomed us and our dogs. They have a great (large) dog park area behind the hotel complete with doggie duty bags. The room was exactly as described and stocked with pans/plates/cups/utensils and everything needed for actually using the kitchen - most places boast about their kitchenette space but unless you are traveling with a pan --it's useless. This place was nicely stocked. We were worried about traveling during the pandemic but didn't have a choice -- Candlewood Suites put our fears to rest -- the room was clean and comfortable. No extra "bump-up" charge for our dogs or for parking! We didn't stay for breakfast but that was a personal choice related to the timing of breakfast -- it always seems to happen in the morning which is a problem. We will definitely stay here again as we are moving to the area and have to keep going back and forth.

We should have booked earlier to get a King size bed, but the queen worked on our short-notice stay. Thank you!

The staff was wonderful, especially Michael at the front desk. He was exceptionally pleasant, funny and helpful. Very nice guy. The room was large, clean , had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. very pleasant stay.

The location was perfect and close to shopping and downtown. We really loved the facilities and how clean everything was. We would definitely stay here again!

We have nothing bad to say about this place.

All size dogs allowed. Rooms did not smell like other pet friendly rooms I have stayed in at other hotels. Pillows, four on each bed, varied from soft to firm so you can choose your preference.

The mattresses could be better

With the kitchen that was provided when we entered the room, we managed to have a hearty breakfast. This was the first hotel that had a kitchen so it was very convenient.

The staff and the room was great.

Our room was clean but apparently they had shampooed the carpet and it was very wet. We had to wear our shoes while in it.
