Tru By Hilton Cleveland Midtown

Hilton launched the TRU brand as an alternative to full-service hotels, marketing TRU hotels as co-living and co-working spaces targeted at younger patrons. The TRU hotels lack some of the amenities that a full-service hotel might have, such as a microwave. ironing board, and clothes closet in the room. Also, these hotels have no pool and if you want ice for your drinks, you'll need to get it on the ground floor. The rooms are spartan, but decent, reminiscent of an inexpensive European hotel or pension. The breakfast is typical for Hilton, with a wide variety of choices from fruit to cereal to pancakes. There is no lunch or dinner served, and there is no bar, but there is a small convenience store at the front desk where guests can purchase snacks and drinks, including beer and wine. Parking is free and plentiful.

We didn't have any issues with the hotel, other than that our first assigned room was on the side of the hotel where road construction was ongoing. The administration changed our room to the opposite side of the hotel. The towels and sheets could have been of higher quality. The towels were a bit thin and the sheets a bit scratchy. Also, the location of this TRU hotel appears to be in a redevelopment area east of downtown; there are few restaurants or stores within walking distance and I wouldn't feel comfortable walking around in the neighborhood at night.

The hotel has the most welcoming lobby I’ve ever been in! After breakfast we really enjoyed hanging out in the egg chairs and playing foosball. The room was cheerful and well designed, and the staff was very warm and helpful. The gym is exceptional: really good equipment, including a Peleton bike!

Beds were a little soft, and there was some inattention to detail. The soap dispenser in our bathroom was almost empty, and we were given 2 towels for 3 people. And despite the sign in the gym saying “complimentary earbuds available at the desk,” they were out.

Room was spacious and staff were friendly.

Breakfast was minimum selection but we were able to all find something we liked. Hotel had no roll away beds and didn’t let us know until we got there. Had to go by a blow up mattress for our son and of we had known we would have probably stayed elsewhere. Hot water for tea smelled of coffee and when we told staff they only dumped the water out and refilled did not clean it because it had coffee smell. Upon arrival, toilet stopped up and no shampoo or soap on bathroom. They fixed problem immediately but shouldn’t have happened.

Bright and clean, no carpets in room. Amazing staff! Jess is a true queen! Good hot breakfast. comfy beds. location.

Not a single gripe

Staff was super friendly! Room had everything I needed and location gave me quick access to the Cleveland Clinic ( about a mile drive down the street off the free parking provided by TRU) arrived right at entrance and parking garage. Loved the lotions/shampoo. No little sample sizes and I could use what I needed. Added bonus was the amazing smell of these items! I would definitely recommend Tru for anyone visiting the Cleveland Clinic- great free breakfast to start the long days at the hospital!

Refill breakfast items until it closes. They were out of pancakes, fruit, and muffins when we arrived!

The woman who ran the breakfast buffet did an excellent job all by herself. She worked so hard and did everything herself. She should be rewarded for such hard work and such a fantastic attitude. In addition, the housekeeper Erica was also very nice and helpful. I liked the big bottles of soap and lotion in the bathroom. We also liked sitting by the fire pit outside where we met a lot of nice people traveling from all over the country.

The pillows in the beds were very small and not very good.

The beds were comfortable and weren't stacked high. I loved the colors used and style throughout the building. I was glad to see an outside seating area that had a fire feature and a small indoor shop. The breakfast was also very good. Friendly staff and good area near the city's heart.

I didn't like the absence of a microwave in the room and the lack of seating less a single desk chair. I didn't like the absence of an ice machine on the other floors. I also like symmetry in a room and having different lamps and side tables at bedside felt mismatched in room 206. The bathroom was beautiful and very clean but was cheapened by the mirror stickers. A single sign with that info on the wall or a stand alone sign would be much better. All this aside, it was minimal mostly in my overall rating.

The staff there was just amazing! The check in lady was so nice the whole time, answered any questions we had, and just very helpful and kind. The hotel itself is very nice and very clean, I loved the vibe of it. The breakfast was just kinda so-so. Not the best but not bad either. Had a great experience overall.

Breakfast could have been a little better, the pancakes were good but the other stuff wasn't the greatest. The donuts were dry and the sausage wasn't very good, but not bad for a hotel breakfast!

I stay here when I come to medical appointments a few times a year. Both Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital are minutes away. Nice well lit free parking is great. Love the gas fire pit area. The staff are some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Some may complain of not having a pool but I'm happy to have a better room rate without paying for something I have no intention of using.

Honestly there was nothing I didn't like.

I probably could've asked for extra pillows so really that is probably on me. The pillows were a bit flat - 4 total- 2 for me and my child. Bed was comfortable, room was big enough for us both to have enough space. It was a beautiful view (we were facing some beautifully decorated houses for the holiday- my child loves christmas lights) and had a beautiful bathroom. The staff was friendly and easy to talk to. I was very happy here. Stayed at a second hotel with a wedding party for the second half of my stay that was double the cost, had a basic cable package, half the room, and was less nice as this hotel. Frankly at that point it seemed like we paid for the location on that one. Wish I would've known how much I was going to love this place ahead of time so I could've just booked my entire stay at this hotel. Made a mental note that this will be the hotel I stay at any time we come back to town to visit. 9.95/10!! -0.05 for the flat pillows! They had disney and disney junior!!!! Talk about family friendly- it's really the little things that make all the difference for families traveling with little ones! Early morning cartoons were uninterrupted even though we were on vacation and away from our normal tv set up at home. My child was demanding his favorite show and I explained they likely didn't have here- to my surprise- they did!!!! So, not only was it convenient to downtown, the east side, and just moments from 90 to take you to the west side.... It also offered everything they promised without any extra fees and surprised me and my child with their channel range. Aloft was the second hotel we stayed at during our stay in Cleveland and my child asked to go back to the first hotel everyday. Frankly, I totally agreed.
