Hyatt House Pittsburgh Bloomfield Shadyside

I like the Eurostyle rooms with the big walk-in showers. Always clean. Bathroom illumination is very good for doing makeup. The location is good if you have a car to get to most things and parking charges are OK. Ate a small plate at the bar. It was freshly prepared by the bartender (who must disappear for a moment to create) and was very tasty, as was my martini. Bartender was convivial and happy to chat when not busy (I have found this on previous stays too with at least two other bartenders). So if traveling solo on business that's a plus. Short drive to some good restaurants, if you do go out.

The 'included' breakfast (midweek morning) was desultory and substandard - had some bacon and a pancake and a bit of toast: The bacon is paper thin and baked(?) so bacon-y in flavor but lacking substance (shatters with a fork, so it is only readily edible if picked up by hand) and the pancake was so dried out it had seriously chewy edges. Yuck! Just up the road is Ritter's Diner - a local institution since the '50s - will walk the block to that in the future I think. There are NO in-room safes which is very unusual for a big city hotel these days.

The room was very modern and clean. It was spacious enough to accommodate my daughter's wheelchair. It was also large enough for the family to be able to spread out and not feel on top of each other. There was plenty of storage for our family of three.

Some of the rooms around us were pretty noisy. Thankfully, this didn't impede on our visit but I've been to other hotels with better sound blocking in place. The pool could use some updating/paint touch ups. No additional sheets nor pillows in the room. I also found it odd that the king bed had normal sized pillows on it, but they were comfy enough.

I liked everything, it was clean, comfortable and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. we came for the Taylor Swift concert and they even decorated the lobby with Taylor swift themed balloons perfect for taking photos before we left how thoughtful!! I was blown away. We got back very late and they had recommendations on places still open to order food. We are beyond grateful for the amazing service all with a smile!

Location is great and parking is convenient (though not free which is expected in a city location). The buffet breakfast was surprisingly delicious. The staff was really friendly, courteous and accommodating. They have a pool, which you have to reserve, and we actually liked that feature as it gives you an hour of private pool time. The hotel had a faint aroma that I couldn’t describe but over all, the room was impeccably clean.

That faint aroma was a bit strange but granted I have a pretty sensitive sense of smell. They made a few errors with our room booking and initially put us in the wrong room but they were super quick to remedy it and made sure it was all taken care of. Selfishly, wish we didn’t have to pay to park in the lot.

All of the employees were great especially the ones in the breakfast room. Front desk staff was exceptional and were always willing to help. Room was clean and well kept as were the hallways. The pool area was clean but the pool could use some service such as paint. The bathroom was an inconvenience because it was locked had to leave the pool area and go down the hall, slip hazard and very cold.

Pool area as explained above. Could also have a shuttle service to take guest around the town to different attractions.

Breakfast was good, lots of choices. Has an indoor pool. Patio with firepit was in process of remodeling, so that should be neat once completed. Location was convenient. Rooms were nice, lots of drawer space which is the most I've ever had in any hotel.

close to Carnegie Mellon and Univ of Pittsburgh. Nice area of the city. Walk to restaurants and Fast food.

This is truly minor. Many hotels have water bottle fillers. For some reason Hyatt Places do not. I filled my water bottle at the water fountain after looking for a bottle filler. Like I said, truly minor.

I like liked how big our room was and there were plenty of places to sit. Plenty of places to walk to for food. Whatever we called down for was brought up to us within minutes. Plenty of option for breakfast, hot and cold options. Coffee could use more kick it was a little weak and not very tasty. Overall we had a good experience and would definitely stay again.

Traffic was very busy and loud 😒, just had to deal with it.

Staff was great. Property is in good condition, in a good area but the price was exorbitant. I realize that this was most likely because the Taylor Swift show was in town, but still ridiculous. Would return again at normal rates

The location was great for college tours. Certainly walking distance to all we needed. The facility was wonderful at accommodating our parking and sleeping needs during our stay.

The online booking didn’t include the price of parking or indicate what the price would be. It was, however, reasonable. Just an added expense.
