The Maverick by Kasa

The hotel is housed in a great old building, and has an excellent lobby/common area. The room was spacious with a great bathroom, including a large tub and shower! There were nice touches throughout, including a record player with some stock records. It was clean, quiet, and the bed was super-comfortable! We loved it! Well, all except for check-in...

Check-in was a real headache. The lack of staff on-site was okay, but not a great experience. I had to upload my driver's license to God knows what random, third-party server in order to check-in. I was already past my window to cancel for free, or I would have cancelled. It ended up okay for this visit, but I am patiently waiting for the identity theft to occur. When I voiced my frustration, the customer service person told me this was for "safety and security", obviously oblivious to the implications of transporting and storing my sensitive data. Just pay a front desk person already - sheesh. Also, parking was not an issue for us as we stayed just one night, but I could see a possible issue with multi-night travelers.

We had a family suite to accomodate the parents and two tall teenage boys. The room was large and its architecture beautiful. The entire building has been beatifully renovated. One bathroom was sufficient because there was a 'public' restroom in the basement of the building which was perfectly clean and probably the quitest room (no air condition sound at all) in the entire building. I liked the lobby with lots of opportunities to sit and work with the computer.

The location was perfect for my stay. Street parking wasn't too bad. It was all self service so no staff but felt safe. I loved that they had a 'make your own bouquet' station for Mother's Day. Mirror cast for the televisions was different from what I'm used to but okay. I would have liked at least local channels to access local news.

The scatter rug in the bathroom is an accident waiting to happen. I almost slipped and fell a few times before removing the rug from the area.

Close to Shadyside and had restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The room was nice enough. Had a nice shower with big fluffy towels.

They charged me a $250 security deposit, which is ridiculous! I took photos of the room in case they try to scam me. Also having to scan your driver license and send it to them makes me worry about identity theft! Hopefully this wasn’t a bad choice.

Really like the location and the view of the room. The room is large and the decorations also are very beautiful.

Send tooo much email to me. I suspect that the conditioner bottle contains shampoo or body wash. The temperature of refrigerator is not low enough. And I can’t find where to throw rubbish by the guide of the website.

Everything! Loved the check-in. The room was so cool. Loved the building and location. The bench in the window with the view was the best. The bathroom was so cool. The lobby with the Christmas trees was beautiful. I can't say enough about the building, the ease of check-in, and the room, the bed was so comfortable. The design of the room was perfect for me and my daughter.

Safe & convenient, well-lit city parking a short walk away. Self check-in was clearly explained, and it was easy to find and get into our room using the provided code. Very clean room!

Lack of personal interaction with anyone was a bit unnerving and sad. No food available other than at the bar area in the lobby (which was closed in the morning).

The building had an old era charm with a boutique modern design. it was an old building that was well maintained. The location was great in an up and coming neighborhood. a lot of energy in this part of town from old Presbyterian Cathedral to modern craft beer establishments.

The TV required you to bring you passwords for your subscribed HBO or Direct TV. No problem just made a call to retrieve them.

Clean, cool location, good for one night

Our room was soooooo small, we had to be on top of each other. Parking was kind of a drag and costly. I left something in my room and had to go back after checkout and it was a legitimate disaster trying to get a hold of someone to let me back in, find it, the whole ordeal was painful and a long time.

It was close to everything. really interesting building. what are managers planning for the gym? I definitely would stay at the Maverick again. Also the city of Pittsburgh makes it easy for parking with the parking app.

we had a flickering overhead light in room 510. we should have let staff know but we were on the go and just used other lighting.
