Le Capitole Hotel

Nice location. Comfortable rooms.

This hotel does not deserve a 5-star rating. 4-star maybe. There was no concierge on duty during our entire 3-night stay. There are doormen on duty, but usually they just ignore you when you come or go from the hotel. We had an early morning flight to catch and had to check out early in the morning. There was no valet on duty to retrieve our car. We had to get it out of the valet parking lot ourselves. I have never in my 6 decades of life ever had to retrieve my car myself from a valet parking lot. The hotel certainly wasn't bad, but it definitely was not worth the premium we paid expecting 5-star service.

I liked the location of the hotel. Everything was in walking distance which was very convenient. I also liked the ambiance and look of the hotel. I liked the cleanness and spaciousness of the room.

1. I wish they provided more coffee capsules. 3 capsules were not enough for 2 people. 2. The bed (mattress) was so uncomfortable. Pillows were not comfy either. I stayed for 2 nights and I couldn't have a good night's sleep. Even though I was super tired, it wasn't easy to fall asleep. My back hurt so I had to keep on changing my sleeping positions. I have never had this problem with other hotels' beds. I loved everything except the bed in this hotel.

Le Capitole it’s a great newly remodeled hotel in the heart of old Quebec City, you will enjoy the beauty of old Quebec within steps, amazing breakfast ,clean and well designed rooms and hotel facilities;and the best concierge ever Julie!!!, who helped us literally with everything, like booking attractions, restaurants (great choices, especially the French one)COVID-19 test to return back home,complementary drinks etc.Definitely we will be back to Le Capitole if we visit Quebec again in the future!!!. Nice place with a view and a good location, just where the old city begins. Nice room, bed and closet. Big bathroom with nice shower, shower pressure and soap. Nice gym. I didn't use the pool, but it looked nice and there was a sundeck too. Helpful staff upon check-in and checkout, a lot of tips for sightseeing. Restaurants just outside and supermarket nearby. Walking distance to everywhere in old city etc. Walking distance from train/bus station, but recommend taxi, because the city is hilly.

A bit unstable wifi. I prefer a place with laundry possibilities - there is though a good steamer in the room and a laundromat nearby. A bit of a walk to get to the room - you take the elevator to the 7th floor (reception) and then another elevator, if your room is on a different floor than the reception. Uninterested staff when I wanted left trash in my room upon check-in removed. Had to ask another.

We splurged for our 25th anniversary, and got a suite on a high floor. The room was fantastic, having head-to-to glass along the exterior sides, a full bathroom next to the bed, a second toilet on the other side of the suite, near the door, and a 1-person bathtub next to the bed. The staff was very professional and friendly, especially the front desk person who greeted us, gave us a city map, and explained the highlights of the city. The hotel is just outside one of the gates to the old walled city. Quebec City is really a little bit of Europe in North America.

The restaurant (Il Teatro) was very expensive for what you get, was short on English-language menus (which our waitress said was a chronic problem). The food was fine, but a mediocre Caesar salad, two entrees, and 4 glasses of wine ended up costing ~CAD $200. Usually that would cost us closer to CAD $120-$150.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a warm and accommodating staff whose genuine hospitality set the tone for the entire stay. Their attention to detail and eagerness to assist seamlessly blended with the hotel's elegant ambiance. Each morning, we eagerly anticipated the culinary delights that awaited us at breakfast. The spread was a delightful symphony of flavors, from freshly baked pastries to a selection of locally sourced ingredients that painted a picture of Quebec's rich gastronomic heritage. Le Capitole's commitment to preserving its historic charm while offering modern comforts was evident in every corner. The meticulously designed rooms provided a cozy retreat after a day of exploration, and the tasteful blend of classic and contemporary décor was a visual treat. One of the highlights was the stunning view from the hotel, which overlooked the captivating architecture of Old Quebec. This vista was not only a feast for the eyes but also a reminder of the hotel's unparalleled proximity to the city's iconic landmarks and hidden gems. In conclusion, our three nights at Le Capitole were a harmonious symphony of comfort, elegance, and genuine hospitality. The hotel's strategic location, amiable staff, delectable breakfast offerings, and tasteful ambiance created an experience that truly captured the essence of Quebec City's allure. It's safe to say that Le Capitole has secured its place as a cherished gem in our travel memories and we will surely come back here in future.

Very modern amenities, cool 60’s-70’s retro museum theme throughout. Perfect location, close to the water, and only a block away from the Main Street in Old Montréal, also very walkable to downtown Montréal. Anyone who is a hockey fan (or even a sports fan) should request the hockey themed room. A small in/out parking lot is only a block away and can be billed thorough the hotel.

The breakfast “basket” delivered to you room every morning was a really great concept, however we would have preferred a hot breakfast. Alternatively, even being able to choose certain breakfast items for the basket each day would have been a nice option.

I had to change my stay from Thursday, June 15th through Sunday, June 18th until Monday the 19th. This was due to Air Canada canceling our Sunday fight. I spent a few hours on the phone changing days/rails, flight and getting someone from Booking.com to extend my hotel reservation. I do not understand why I was charged $477.96 to my first three days and have to pay $569.00 for Sunday when the hotel was 1/2 or less empty. Regardless of our discussions or your policies, I should receive a refund for the balance for the 4th day. I think this a professional reasonable request. I will look forward to Booking.com and Le Capitole's response. Regards, Dave Marcinko

it was great! good location, interior designed very nicely! clean! great friendly staff!

I didn’t like that there was no Netflix or streaming services on tv. we had to watch using our laptop. but this is not a big deal the bigger deal for me was we asked for late checkout but they had to charge us $40 to checkout at 2pm (just 2 hours extra). we just actually needed an extra hour but since they were charging us, we thought we’d max out the 2 hours. I mean, it didn’t look like the hotel was full, but they did say that at a certain occupancy percentage, the system “insists” on a charge or something like that. anyway, I understand it but not excited about it. I was hoping they would do something about the charge especially since we stayed for 4 nights and checked in super late (past 12mn) on our first night.

Location, location, location! Able to walk to literally every sight we wanted to visit. Right at one of the gates to enter the main street of Old Quebec, also easy walking access to downtown area. Excellent breakfast for very reasonable price at on-site restaurant that has lovely outside seating. Staff was fabulous, responsive and so helpful. The whole hotel is beautifully furnished with modern decor. Couldn’t recommend this wonderful place more highly!

Literally nothing. Some people might be annoyed by the need to take 2 different elevators to reception and then to the room, but it didn’t bother us at all. The route from reception to the room elevators is all glass with beautiful views of Old Quebec, lovely art work on the opposite walls and comfortable modern furnishings.
