August 2023

We stayed at the Porter House hotel for 2 nights in August 2023. Everything at this hotel is fantastic: Clean rooms, big room, big comfy beds, nice bathroom, designer toiletries, complimentary Nespresso coffee, T2 tea and room slippers. Huge TV, airco. No carpet in the rooms but wooden floors which is great! Dinner at the restaurant on the 1st floor Dixon & sons was excellent, plenty of gluten free options. Breakfast ( a la carte) at the same restaurant was superb, including plenty of gluten free options. We could leave our bags at reception while we flew to the Whitsundays free of charge. And the location is excellent. A few minutes walk from Monument metro station, so only 15 minutes by metro (T8) from the airport. And in walking distance (5 mins walk) from all the shops in QVB building, George Street and department stores David Jones, Myer, Westfield mall et cetera. Also really close to all the busses, going to Bondi beach (bus 333) and the bus to the University of Sydney and Circular Quay (opera house and harbour bridge) Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sydney!

Everything was great!

The hotel is superbly located in the cbd and a quick walk to Surry Hills. Staff were friendly and efficient. The room was highly comfortable and a bedside tablet ensuring ease of operating the tv and curtains, lighting etc. Breakfast was brilliant in a lovely, elegant room. This is a great value for money hotel. Ultra modern facilities and engaging and atmospheric dining and bar facilities

Morning papers are a nice option. No tv captioning option for the hard of hearing.

The room layout (spacious, nice bathroom, like the iPad control), the boutique feel, the staff. The tv, the lounge chair & wardrobe, robe, iron in the room all great. Location is also very central - not far from Pitt St, not far from Chinatown.

The front entrance and desk isn't clear, but I like the hiddenness of the entry in a way - like it's a secret. I think it would be nice if the bathroom also had light switches so that you don't have to go the iPad to turn them on.

I forgot my phone charger and I’m grateful for the wireless charger! Love the body pillow. I ordered a mocha on a rainy and cold night at the bar and it’s complimentary:) it’s definitely a thoughtful gesture from the manager.

I wish I had remembered to turn on the housekeeping light from the tablet before I head out. My rooms were not freshen up for two days. Body pillow doesn’t have proper casing. It’s clothed with two pillow casings. If it’s a full length pillow case, it would be perfect.

Sleek and comfortable room with many modern touches (blown away with the iPad operated curtains, lights and TV). Fantastic location just a 5 minute walk to Museum station and a 20 minute walk to Circular Quay or the Botanic Gardens.

Slight hiccup initially, when we were given a ‘upgrade’ to a larger room on the first floor. This room was very noisy due to the busy road outside and the surrounding construction work. We initially flagged the issue at the time of check in and we’re asked to come back later that afternoon as the rooms were only just being cleaned. When returning at the time stated we were told that there were no rooms available and we would have to try again the next day. It was only after further pressing the issue that we were then placed back into our original size/standard room, but on a higher floor. The room was lovely nonetheless however the experience made us feel as an inconvenience to the staff and unfortunately slightly tainted our stay.

Absolutely stunning hotel. Heritage features are beautifully restored mixing well with the new. The rooms are gorgeous, the beds are comfy, nice clean floorboards throughout (love a hotel room with floorboards rather than carpet). The staff are super friendly with a nice casual but professional vibe. Check in was smooth and seamless as was check out. Pool located on the roof with views of Hype Park and the city. The fitness centre glass doors open onto a terrace for yoga etc, really nice space. The hotel is not overrun with kids so that’s pretty awesome for solo or adults travellers just looking to relax without having to see and hear kids running amok. Really happy with our staycation. Parking is available for $45 overnight a block from the hotel.

The pool is a little shallow for laps but still manageable.

beautifully done hotel. the finishes and attention to detail are gorgeous. very convenient CBD location the bar downstairs was lovely, and the breakfast that was included with our stay was very good

the staff were extremely awkward. almost like no one knew what they were doing but then wouldn’t leave you alone at the same time. On our 3rd night we came back to the hotel after dinner, and a staff member tried to stop us accessing the lifts. This particular guy had seen us every day that we were staying there and we found it incredibly odd that he didn’t recognise us. also being that the hotel is a new build it’s very dusty. as soon as you put your things in the room it’s covered in dust (we had to keep wiping our iPhones each time we picked up)

Excellent customer service and great facilities. Quality interiors and design with plenty of luxury features. The location was fantastic with many points of interest only 2-3 blocks in any directions. Excellent security throughout the property. Very fresh, clean and modern.

The twin beds were not overly plush, a mattress topper or softer mattress would be ideal. A great point of difference would be the availability of fresh water from a jug or large (1-2lt) bottle - we requested this from reception and it was provided via Henry’s cafe. This made a huge difference to remain hydrated. Availability to mini-bar snacks, even if not a full range simply something savoury and something sweet i.e. potato chips / chocolate that is less than the in-house room service.

We loved the hotel. The interior design was impecable, smart technology in the room was great. The location was exceptional-close to everything. Very chic and luxe.

We didn’t love that the process of using the lifts up to our room was not always easy-having to tap our room key and it not working every time was annoying. The 10% Sunday surcharge added to our breakfast without our knowledge was inappropriate.

lived the decor, attentive staff, beautiful room, location. The room was immaculate and high tech features. luxury bathroom which is always welcome. gorgeous fragrant bathroom products. Delicious food and great atmosphere in Borge bars we visited . couldn’t fault the whole experience .

I would recommend towel hooks in the large shower space. as there was no door to bathroom , but a door to shower area, but needed to step outside of shower room to fetch a towel. it would add some further privacy when showering and sharing a room with a friend.
