Charm. Care taken to furnish authentically to the period (Victorian) - furniture, plumbing, ornaments, even the provision of reading material. The huge four poster bed was just so comfortable. Didn’t use the spa but it was a bonus. Didn’t use the Mini bar but it was enormously stocked with a variety of drinks and nibbles to suit all tastes. Air-conditioning was quiet and welcome relief to CQ heat. Dining room was welcoming as was staff.

No big deal but the luscious couch could do with a clean - obviously everyone wants to sit on it! Access to tv stations was limited to free to air and only a couple of channels at that.

For us, the Hotel had an old world ambience and charm about it. High ceilings, spacious room, large and comfortable bed, period furnishings. We consider ourselves simple folk and this was something special and different. Staff were present, available and friendly. Breakfast was ready, simple and filling. I appreciated the opportunity to leaf through and read a little Rockhampton History. Great initiative to use a beautiful old building in such wonderful way.

All good for us and no need or wish to write something simply to fill a box.

Beautifully restored old building furnished in a style that works well with the turn of the 20th century feel. The bed was comfy and we slept fairly well. A good continental breakfast is available for ten dollars per person, excellent value for the spread on offer.great locations n near the CBD and over the road from the iconic Great Western Hotel.

The shower is over the spa bath, making access a bit tricky for, people with mobility issues. If you aren’t highly mobile ask for a ground floor room as there are lots of stairs to the second floor. It can be a bit noisy as the train line runs across the front of the hotel.

The building itself is beautiful. The furnishings are lovely too, old wooden four poster bed, ornate wardrobe and fleur de lys carpeting. Very cute. I loved it. I had an easy check in after hours, and the staff were accommodating to my request for a late check out which was very welcome after a long late drive for work. The spa bath was lovely, and a much appreciated. The room was super clean. It's a lovely spot to stay for something a little bit different.

Bit noisy being situated where it was, but they offer ear plugs so not a bit deal. The cleaning staff kinda pestering me when I'd arranged a late check out. Was a bit disconcerting/stressful hearing keys jingling at the door in the middle of a shower 😳. Perhaps a bit more communication between management and housekeeping would settle that issue.

Check in was simple, easy and friendly. The building is beautiful. The room was just fabulous. Spacious, luxurious, clean, comfortable and very well appointed. Everything from furniture to the bath were in keeping with the style of the building. We didn’t stop for breakfast but understand it to be a buffet continental style. We loved the location. It’s right opposite the Great Western rodeo and event bar…….which was a great place for an evenings entertainment. Walk across the road and you’re home…..what’s not to love! Even the occasional freight train going by added to the atmosphere.

There was not one thing we didn’t love about the Denison.

The Denison is my home away from home. I get excited every time I get the chance to stay. I often treat myself to a night here, despite the fact it’s within an hour of home. It’s just so luxurious, relaxing and comfortable. I love everything about this place. The super comfy bed that feels like I’m sleeping on a cloud, the spa, the gorgeous period furniture and surroundings. There’s so much to love.

Leaving! I miss the place the moment I drive out of the car park!

The staff were excellent at Denison. Our room had been upgraded at no extra cost as we were staying for just over 3 weeks. During that time - they continually kept our room clean and changed sheets and towels every other day! Our bed was really comfortable. The Hotel is situated a short walking distance to the City centre and river walk which is really beautiful. Lots of new (and older!) restaurants and coffee shops in town - which are all excellent. Breakfast at the Denison was a basic continental breakfast.

Maybe a fresher continental breakfast - for example - fresh fruit and cheese/hams etc.

Beautiful historic property really well kept and clean. Plus we loved the all the photos of the history of the building! This place was definitely value for money and the staff were very beautiful and accommodating whilst being very patient with us when we were late for check in. I couldn’t fault our stay!

There’s nothing we didn’t we like…but a side note and a bit of reassurance for others who aren’t familiar with historical buildings, the property does smell musty. This is not due to mould being present, this is simply due to the age of the building. The property and rooms are very clean, not even a surface containing dust. My husband suffers with severe asthma which was not set off or irritated during our stay. I saw previous reviews about the spar not working but the spa was fully functioning and well sanitised:)

I will definitely be staying here again. The pros definitely outweigh the cons. My room was beautifully laid out with great period furniture, clean and very comfortable. The bed was very soft, comfortable and I slept well all night. The aircon, fridge, tv and bathroom amenities all worked well with no noise. During my stay there was very little road noise.

It is located next to a train line, 2 passed during my stay, one before 11pm and the other the next morning. They were noticeable though not overly loud and my room faced the rail line. It is also across the road from the Great Western. My stay was on a Friday night and the great western was quiet when I returned at 10.30pm.

Comfortable huge bed. Quirky room with very high ceilings and chunky furniture. Excellent breakfast for a very reasonable price. Air conditioner worked well, especially considering the large size of the room, but we turned it off before we went to bed and the room stayed cool all night. Good value.

Minor issues only. Main door and toilet door didn't fit very well and required a bit of force to close them. Bedside lamp on only one side of the bed. Some traffic noise early in the night, but it wasn't a problem later.
