Westbury Gingerbread Cottages

Our host was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was supplied and refreshed each day and was amazing. The cottage was old and beautifully restored. There was a lovely courtyard for enjoying the afternoon sun and cooking on the BBQ.

There was a lot of memorabilia in the house which looked lovely but is obviously hard to keep dust free and clean looking. We were unable to use the dryer during our stay, but I'm sure this was rectified after letting the owner know.

Loved our stay at the Gingerbread Cottages. We were provided with a pretty heritage and clean cottage with adequate supplies as well as some patty cakes and breakfast supplies. It was in the lovely town of Westbury and from the cottage we could walk around the nearby streets easily. An IGA store was a short drive away for any other ingredients we so desired.

Probably the only thing that I found a problem with was the bed size is very big for the size of the rooms and I bruised myself quite badly, knocking myself on the end of the bed trying to fit between the wall and the bed in the middle of the night. (Should have turned on the light, so more of a warning to others rather than any kind of complaint. )

If you are looking for a quirky stay in a period cottage, look no further. These cottages are very cute, clean, well maintained and had everything we needed. They provide the perfect location to explore the town of Westbury - within easy walking distance to everything you need to see/do in Westbury. Amanda, our host was very hospitable and provided goods for an excellent breakfast - including an array of cereal, fresh baked bread and ofcourse bacon and eggs.

A beautiful place to finish our Tasmanian trip. Our family loved playing in the yard, eating apples from the apple trees, the well stocked kitchen and amazing breakfast ingredients provided by Amanda, a (small) bath for the kids, plenty of space for the kids to play in their bedroom, relaxing on the porch with freshly baked afternoon tea each day, washer, drier and clothesline to get some washing done, off-street shaded parking, the short walk to the local butcher, park and fabulous wine bar. Everything we needed!

The location was perfect for me, especially with some mobility issues Was in the main street so close to shops and in particular only 10 minutes walk to my friend's. Amanda supplied exactly what I needed for my Keto Low carb breakfast which I appreciated very much. The bed was super comfy and the couch also for reading. Loved the old paintings and pictures. Now I know where the expression with Vim and vigor comes from!

Had difficulty using the key on the front door. Also with turning the heater on and off - tending to burn my fingers and really had trouble doing it. Suggestions: a curtain between the kitchen and lounge to keep the heat in. a reading light in the lounge - perhaps one of those Ikea ones on a stand that you can move where you want it.

House was gorgeous and there were lots of beautiful little period ornaments and furnishings. As many others have mentioned, the baked goods provided on arrival were delicious. Location was lovely and we enjoyed walking on the common and around the village. We had dinner in the local pub. The service was friendly and accommodating and food was excellent, with large portions.

What a quaint little cottage Apple Tree Cottage is. The cottage has everything you need for one night or an extended stay. Dinner recommendation was spot on and only a short walk away. Breakfast provisions were excellent and just what we needed for our last day in Tassie. Thank you Amanda for the ‘little extras’, Apple Tree Cottage is definitely on our list of places to go back to on a return visit in the future.

Nothing to dislike.

Give me this type of accommodation over 5-star city hotels any day! We stayed in the corner cottage and it was perfect after a big day walking the Walls of Jerusalem. Freshly baked bread on the table, eggs, bacon, coffee and milk in the fridge for breakfast and a quiet comfy bed. It felt like we were at home with great cooking facilities and a little outdoor area to eat and enjoy the afternoon. Thanks Amanda.

We liked that the Gingerbread Cottage because it was unique. The cottage itself was more than 100years old and the hosts have gone out of their way to style it accordingly. Loved all the knickknacks. The cottage is cozy, but was well heated with a lovely gas fire. The hosts were attentive and made us feel welcome, even leaving baked goods every day for morning tea. We did have a problem with the washing machine but this was fixed promptly by the hosts who let us use another in another unit. All in all a great place to stay.

There was nothing we didn't like

It was like a blast from the past, all the comforts of Grandmas house. Great handy location to pretty village. Lovely cakes for afternoon tea, everything was provided. Great meal in local pub too!

Bed was a bit creaky - but still slept ok very quiet village location. Handy to everywhere too
