Great staff who are always willing to help. The location is amazing situated across the road from Flinders train station, a few minutes walk from Southbank and close to cafes, restaurants, city centre etc. Regular events for travellers. Kitchen is a decent size and has a co work area with mini privacy pods that you can use if you need a quiet space to work in. Beds are comfortable and clean with privacy curtains and a locker next to bed to keep belongings in. Laundry is in basement and accepts debit/credit card (located if you walk past the bar and past the curtain). $6 for washing and $5 for dryer (at time of this being posted). Make sure you keep your swipe on you as you need it to access hostel out of hours (entrance), toilets/showers, floors in lifts etc. All in all - a great quality hostel. Will definitely be staying here again at some point.

Very nice hostel so close to everything in the city all in walking distance. The rooms have a lot of space to put your bags on the floor. My 6 bed all female dorm had its own tiny bathroom with shower but across the hall are bigger bathrooms if needed.

The bunks are good although the cabinets near the end of them are very large I kept whacking my knees on them all night and felt a bit suffocated especially when the curtains are pulled too. The free welcome drink is great however the card doesn’t specify what drinks that includes so a friend of mine got caught out with that - it includes beer, wine or a seltzer.

The location of the hotel is perfect, close to the CBD and surrounded by many interesting things to visit. Also, they organice daily activities that are perfect for getting to know other solo travellers and enjoying your time. I would also highlight the attention and kindness of the staff (the girls I met at the reception super nice and helpful), and Laura, the yoga teacher, is a beautiful soul that made my stay a little bit more special. Will repeat for sure my next time in Melbourne 🤞🏼😊

My go to for short stays in Melbourne Cbd. Perfect location close to everything you need to get around whether it be tram, train, bus, boat, carpet, dragon etc. Remember to carry your swipe on you to access bathrooms, your room, elevator levels and building front door after hours. Kitchen is decent size - first in best dressed for fridge space but this is a given in any hostel. Dining area next to kitchen and workspace with private work pods (these are so good) and open co-work space. Travel desk for touristy info and cinema/yoga/chill out/whatever you want to be room on level 1 as well. Noise levels from street can get a little loud in dorm rooms (especially on weekends) but to be expected being in the heart of the city near restaurants, main city train station so suggest closing a window or use earbuds if light sleeper. In saying this - I've never had trouble sleeping here. Beds are super comfy and always clean on arrival. Bed also has a storage nook to keep your stuff in, bedside light, universal power outlets, USB port, privacy curtains (love these btw). Staff are always accommodating and are a pleasure to deal with - thanks for your help Maddy! Always something going on with Selina daily events and there's a bar in the basement for those wanting to mix and mingle that opens late afternoon. Laundry also in the basement past the bar, draw the curtain, fight the troll and you'll see 4 washers (detergent provided - cost for a laundry load: $7.30) and 4 dryers (cost $6). Coles and woolies are a short stroll from hostel too for grocery shopping. I've had a few horror hostel stays in Melbourne and elsewhere but Selina different - always glad to stay here. Your experience in any place is what you make it though so make the most.

Couldn't stay longer

The best location in Melbourne, The room was marvelous. Nice kitchen, cinema- room and bathrooms. In the basement is a nice bar, where you even get some discount !!! I was greeted really welcoming at the reception by Miguel, how explained everything, we got a free welcome drink at the bar, and he gave as a lot off informations about the activities in the hostel. In the room was no dust, everything was super clean. The bed was perfectly made! At our second day the housekeeper Mafe, gave us fresh towels and asked about our stay. Very nice! I have to say, I stayed in a lot of different hostels all around Australia, but Selina Central Melbourne was different. By far the best room I stayed in. More a 4 star hotel a room then a hostel room!

Nothing.

My sister, my friend and I stayed in a family room. We were pleasantly surprised when walked into the very spacious room. It also had a living area space to lounge around which was really cute. We arrived earlier than the check in time but the staff allowed us to hang out in the common areas while we waited. Everyone was super friendly. I also liked that instead of keys or key cards they gave you a bracelet with a tag on it to enter the room as well as use the lift. It was very practical.

A bit of a spiel but worth it: - Such a great central location.  Close to everything. Especially handy that it's right near a tram stop and across the road from Flinders Street train station so you can get to anywhere pretty quickly on public transport. Metro woolies and Cole's express close by for groceries. - Staff are always friendly and helpful and will keep you posted of any events going on (lots to do) or assist with anything else during your stay.  Reception 24/7. - 4 washing machines and 4 dryers in the basement: $7.30 for wash and $6 for dryer (at time of this review so could change).  No detergent needed though because w machine automatically uses one which is awesomeness! - bunk beds are stylish and comfortable. They come with a locker literally at the foot of your bed to keep your things close, privacy curtains, a light, power outlet and USB socket.  Need swipe to access room. - Bar in the basement also for those thirsty for a pint. Opens late arv. - Both mixed and separate male or female bathrooms on each floor.  Need your swipe to access these so remember to keep this on you.  - Decent size kitchen with dining area and workspace for those who need to work remotely on level 1.  I find the little work pods super handy as it gives you added privacy and comes with power outlets and light in a small space so you can get ish done. - Movie room next to kitchen which is pretty cool where u can watch and/or just chill. Can't fault this place - has everything you need without breaking the bank.  One of the best hostels Melbourne has to offer.  Will def stay again when next in town.

As an international student at RMIT, the location was perfect, less than 10 minutes by walk. There is a bunch of exciting places near to the hostel. The coworking areas are nice, but a little short. Although the coworking cabins they offer can allow you to isolate the noise to have a meeting or study more easily, too important to stay in contact with your office or your relatives privately. Nevertheless I left the hostel, they received important mail for me, an Australia newcomer. Thank you for that. The baggage storage service offered also is important on the day you arrive early check-in or depart after check-out. The bed was comfortable and pretty clean. And finally the staff all the time was all the time friendly and helpful.

Every thing was ok for me.

The mattress is super comfortable. The location is convenient. Everything is clean. The staff always tries to accommodate you in what you need. Rachel has been a big help since I have arrived here (already one month); she has been very kind and accommodating. She never hesitated to help me in any requested I had, which I truly appreciate:). The cleaning staff makes sure to leave the bathroom and all the common areas super super clean. If you extend your stay and you want your sheets to be changed, the staff at the reception helps you with that. Literally every single staff is amazingly friendly and helpful.

I saw a few mice in the kitchen and the living area which is connected. I feel like it’s an infestation. Hopefully the establishment is doing something to take care of this issue. Even though there is still mice I still find the common areas to be clean… I, myself do not cook but I keep a few things in the fridge and for the facility I personally believe that two big fridges is not nearly enough at all as there are many people stocking up multiple bags with food in there.

Location & staff friendly and helpful. Other guests at hostel were good also. I like the privacy of the curtains. I was in a 4 bed dorm and it was fine.

The only issue I had with this hotel was I had to book at the last minute during a Taylor Swift concert weekend and the prices where skyrocketing through the roof crazy prices for the night, however this was the same in every hotel in Melbourne so its not just the fault of the hostel. The demand for beds that weekend was crazy. THere could have been a bit more hanging space for towels.
