My husband and I stayed at the Mercure Rio Boutique Hotel Copacabana for 4 nights during March 2022 and we loved everything about the hotel. The friendly and helpful staff, the location, the food (breakfast and the a la cart menu) and the fact that we could just cross the street to be at Copacabana beach. Even our tour guides mentioned to us that they love the Mercure Rio and their staff. We booked a Executivo Casal Vista Partial do Mar room and we we very happy with the room, it's cleanliness and the partial sea view because that is what we booked and paid for.

Some people have mentioned in reviews that the rooms are not as indicated on the pictures but I disagree, if you know exactly what you booked for then there is nothing to be disappointed about. There is only 1 room type with full sea view, if you do not book and pay for such a room then you shouldn't expect a full sea view.

The staff were super courteous and spoke English. Keys grant access only to your room's floor and 2nd floor for fitness room. Daily breakfasts were quite satisfactory. It is midway between either end of the long COPACABANA stretch. Close to great eateries and across from a nice beachfront. You get towels and chairs and a complimentary cocktail on the beach. The room is very comfortable and best if your on a higher floor with a terrace & ocean view.

Laundry facilities lacking and only available weekdays.

The hotel is chic and fancy! But what we appreciated most was the special assistance received from the staff and, in particular, from Bruno, who was able to understand our needs and contributed to our wonderful stay. Bruno, ciao from Italy! Cristina & Massimiliano

everything! the property is beautiful and very modern, located in the best and the safest part of Copacabana beach and the hotel gives you towels and has chairs and umbrellas section on the beach in front of it. We had 2 rooms ( 1 beachfront and 1 side sea view with balcony) and they were both beautiful, spacious and always very clean. beds are comfortable as heaven! A good breakfast with plenty of options is available every morning with a beautiful view of the beach. And the best part is people who work there. they are beyond nice and accommodating. Daniel took care of our check in and check out and was very patient and sweet and helped us by accommodating us with an early check in in one of the rooms and a late check out that we had to pay for only $50. Pedrou is so very sweet and has a real passion for Rio that he made sure to share with us by telling us about the hidden gems and where to go and what to do each day of our stay. Bruna and Josué were very very sweet and always inquiring about our stay and helping us with each one of our needs. Bruna even booked for us the COVID tests that were performed at the hotel. this was our first time in Rio and we fell in love with the city and the hotel and it’s crew helped create this unique experience. we loved it so much that we are already planning our next trip in this hotel.

Location is perfect, right in the middle of Copacabana Beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful, thanks for Bruno personally for his effort to change our room 🙏 they serve a perfect breakfast, it was very rich . If I go to Rio again, I will definitely stay here again. In addition, in front of the hotel, there is a taksi stop, find Alex , he is a tour operator and speaks English very well, he is great . Thank you for the good memories you created in our minds 🙏❤️

We were given a room near the elevator and the noise was unacceptable. The concierge found a room that was much quieter for us and we were able to make the move that evening, even though it was quite late.

The custom of not flushing toilet paper was unfamiliar to us, and we did our best to comply. However, twice when we returned after the room was cleaned we found soiled tissue in the toilet that we had not put there. We were not advised that we were not following protocol so were confused about why this happened.

PERFECT LOCATION ON COPACABANA BEACH!! Easy walk anywhere. Ubers work great and the staff was exceptionally attentive, kind and amicable - especially Alan, Guilherme, Bruno and Peter, who were spectacular hosts! The entrance porters were always kind and observant to our needs - Excellent people all of them. We had a fabulous experience. Breakfast was nice - Brazilian coffee is SPECTACULAR!

Breakfast eggs and pao de queijo were cold if you have breakfast at 10 am. Cleaning of rooms, very poor. this is a staff that needs better training or given additional time for each room. We found it below average.

Very spacious and lovely rooms, very luxurious even for a 4 star hotel. We were very happy and comfortable here. The breakfast was fantastic, highly recommend getting that included with your stay (looks like it is included for most options on Booking.com). Location right opposite Copacabana beach is perfect.

On arrival we requested to upgrade to an ocean view room, and were happy to pay a reasonable difference. We paid approx 280 Aussie dollars more which we were more than happy to do. A few days later, the reception advised they had made a mistake and we would need to pay another few hundred Aussie dollars for our room. I protested that this was their mistake, and we wouldn't have agreed to the upgrade on the figure they were now telling us we needed to pay. Thankfully, the hotel accepted that because it was their mistake, we would not need to pay the extra. That said, it was an honest mistake and they quickly agreed for us not to pay the extra money. On other matters during our stay, they were also very helpful staff.

Location was excellent for hanging out on copacabana beach. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Allowed us to have late check out as we had a night flight. Handy to have a restaurant and bar in the hotel. Showers and changing rooms in lobby for rinsing sand after day at the beach.

My older children were on a different floor and I couldn’t take lift up to them without going to ground floor and up again with key for their room. Showers were slightly mouldy.

Perfect location across the road from the beach front, makes it a safe place to stroll and get back at night without having to walk in the small streets behind. I chose standard room which is in the back without a view and by the elevator, so bit noisy, but the room itself is comfortable, there is a kettle, too. Breakfast is plentiful and good, you can have it looking at the sea. Staff is very helpful and speaks very good English, always with a smile.

The poor info on the room types while booking, to avoid booking a back room at the elevator. Otherwise, all perfect.
