The staff were very friendly and helpful, I had made an error with my booking and, they went out of their way to help me out. All the staff that we spoke to were very helpful and friendly, and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable, and relaxing.

The night that we ate in the restaurant the food and the service were excellent, the only complaint I would have is that the restaurant itself was a little bit cold. Our tv in the bedroom only had one channel, both minor inconveniences, that didn't take away from what was overall a very pleasant stay.

Stay in kilkea every year. The cleanliness is always exceptional and the dinner was delicious. The staff are very nice.

Slightly disappointed with the stay. It did not live up to the usual standard. Breakfast was cold. Requested a gesture like chocolate or champagne in the room and they took over two days to get back to me. So, I just sorted it myself. Other hotels have it organized within a day. It took a long time to get the bill at dinner. I would definitely stay again for a night away, just not for a special occasion.

The lodge was excellent, plenty of space! The food in 1180 restaurant was superb! The staff were very pleasant and helpful in 1180. We will definitely go back!

The Bar in the Castle, no real atmosphere and the barman wasnt very pleasant. On check-in we were given a late check out and they said the room service charge for breakfast was complimentary. However i had to pay the Room Service Charge and our door key didnt work after 11am. None of the above would put us off returning though, such a beautiful place.

The staff were awesome. The greeter was dignified and had a presence befitting a castle. Very impressive! The grounds were great and nice for a walk. The breakfast was special with breath taking views from the second story. Once again the servers were awesome and accommodating, great fun! The rooms were just stunning, very large, huge bathroom. The bed was luxurious. The coffee makings were fabulous. The bar server was friendly and accommodating. Everything was unreal as this was our first stay on Castle grounds. I loved it!

The food was awful, I got the beef for dinner and there was a quarter carrot on the plate, that was my veg. The potatoes were cold. Don't get me started on my Husbands food. He got lasagne it was terrible.....bland and tasteless.... and charged over 80.00 for what was prison food. I'm very disappointed. We'd stayed before and this place seems to be slipping...certainly the food. Also, to top it off, at breakfast we asked for some bacon that was well done (the ones at the buffet were lightly cooked let's say), we got bacon that had clearly been deep fat fried. We just left the breakfast in the end. Awful experience.....Reception staff were helpful though.

The location was brilliant and the members of staff were very efficient and helpful without being intrusion. The bar food in the clubhouse was excellent. Everywhere was very clean and tidy, inside and outside. The lodges are done to a high standard.

Unfortunately we couldn't get our tv in the lodge to work but this wasn't a big deal as we were only there the one night. We were very pleased to have our breakfast in the castle but sadly this was the worse part of our stay. The building is beautiful and the tables all laid up as you would expect. After our orders were taken, both cooked breakfasts arrived very quickly. Both lots of poached eggs were rock hard and my husband's mushrooms and potato on his full English were extremely dry and shrivelled up. He left them which is unheard of!!! We can only think that it was all precooked not quite what we'd expected from this type of hotel. We noticed the table beside us had their eggs in the same state as ours. Such a shame.

The castle and grounds were wonderful, there were 2 wedding parties in when we were there and it looks ideal. We had dinner and breakfast at the clubhouse and both were top class, both food and service. More formal options are available at the castle.

The bathroom in the lodges was below standard and didn't match the quality of the other rooms 😕 Our shower was also broken but it was fixed by maintenance the next day 👍

Castle was beautiful, lodges clean and comfortable but the staff were the jewel in the crown, each one as friendly and helpful as the next..my second stay at Kilkea and we will be back for a third..and a special mention for the Spa, totally amazing.

One small issue, there was no gluten free on the menu's..there were options if you asked..but it would be helpful if those options were already on the menu!

Beautiful location and grounds, stunning property! The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We both really enjoyed the tennis court, a slow walk around the golf course and the thermal suites at the spa. Close drive to Carlow town which have plenty of great restaurants to choose from. Reception were very helpful on organising a taxi into Carlow and the taxi man is a pure gent.

Overall the stay was very good and we would not hesitate to stay again. Communication from staff was a small issue - we were going back and forth from castle to the clubhouse for breakfast on both mornings. On check in nothing was mentioned about location of breakfast. Breakfast was slightly disappointing, just avoid the fry as the meat wasn’t great. They have plenty of other tasty options to choose from so just a heads up!

Beautiful property and although I don’t golf, it looks like a beautiful golf course. Way out in the countryside so no need to leave. The food is outstanding

I am probably the only one that would ever complain about this, but we are hot blooded, and like air conditioning, we happened to visit during one of the hottest weeks and needed a fan and would have liked air conditioning in the lodge.
