Japanese ryokan next to the Unesco world heritage sites. Our room was big as it was for max 4 person. This ryokan has no meals (no breakfast, no dinner), but they provided maps indicating places to have breakfast and dinner. As a surprise there was bread, croissant and coffee in a basket available in the room - enough for European continental breakfast when one buys orange juice from a convenience store. In the common area there was an automate which provided japanese tea as hot or cold (4 alternatives). Also a microwave was provided in the common area, handy if one prefers self catering hot meal in the room. The public bath, onsen, was also excellent
The ryokan was excellent, nothing to claim expect that the street from the railway station to the ruokan is uphill. We stayed two nights from Saturday to Monday. Some guidance about the Nikko itself. Nikko as town is very small. Temples, etc. close by 16 or 16:30 after which the day tourist goes towards railway station. Shops also close early around 17 -18. On Sunday the crocery shops were closed the whole day and the convenience store (Lawson) and bakeries were nearly empty of food offerings. Limited express train tickets were also not easily available, in Tokio we could not get tickets for the first train (fully booked) and needed to wait over 2h for a train with available seats.

The staff is simply amazing and superlative! The position is excellent, just 1 minute from the red bridge and few minutes from the main temples.

Staying at Nikko Tokinoyuu was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The staff were helpful and super friendly. Despite the language barrier, we still felt welcomed and cared for. The location is perfect, it is walkable to Nikko's several must visit shrines. And the bus stop for Nikko Heritage Bus is just right outside of the hotel, which is super convenient. As there were nothing much to do in Nikko at night, we were glad to have such comfortable and peaceful place to just relax. We also enjoyed the public bath very much. Definitely recommend this place !

This place is immaculately clean. Never have I seen such a clean hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable. The bedding is on the floor and might be a little thin for some, but we managed to sleep well here. They provide lovely robe and toiletry sets for use when using their onsen facilities. The shampoo bar in the women’s onsen is fantastic. Location is great, step outside and you’re 1 min from the Shinkyo Bridge. I would definitely stay here if in Nikko again.

I loved everything about this ryokan. I would go back in the blink of an eye. In fact, I know where I'll book next time I visit Nikko, which I hope will be soon. The staff is extremely nice & accommodating, they even helped us make a reservation for a restaurant when we realized everything was closing after 18:30. The room is big, clean and beautiful, they provided yukata for us to wear in the ryokan, as per tradition, but they were more beautiful than others we have had during our holiday at other ryokans. The public bathroom was great, they even had shampoo&conditioner sets for you to choose from when showering, and my hair felt amazing afterwards.
Not a lot of space in the small toilet in the room to put your toiletries & travel bags, but that's a minor thing. Also, they can't provide breakfast as they do not have a restaurant, but many places in Nikko open quite late, so beware of that and maybe buy some stuff at the konbini the night before.

Nice place for staying in Nikko: - Great location near of famous Shinkyo Bridge and on the main street. 15 minutes walk from the railway station, bus stop in few meters near of the hotel. - Spacious and cozy room in tradition japanese style. - Tea, coffe and buns for breakfast in the room. - Comfortable onsen on the first floor. - Traditional japanese clothes and cups for tea. - You can leave your luggage on the reception desk before check-in and after check-out. - Polite and caring staff.

Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Rooms are traditional style and they are very well equipped. You will have fresh towels and yukatas everyday, which is a great plus. The room has a kettle to enjoy hot beverages. The common bathroom area is very nice too, with a shampoo bar, hair dryers and the hot tub to relax after a long day walking. The hotel is super close to the temple complex but a bit far from bars and restos, it is better to plan meals ahead bc everything close early. For the rest, very recommended!

Everything was great! The staff were very acommodating despite the language barrier. The room was very spacious and clean. We were able to sleep and recharge from our activities during the day. And the locations is perfect! Bus stop right outside the hotel. Line of restaurants on both sides of the street. And the world heritage area just a block away. We were able to do a lot despite just 1 night stay because of this.
The early check out time of 10am was a bit inconvenient but I guess this is the norm for hotels in Japan.

Staff were incredibly helpful, kind and polite. The traditional Japanese room was really cool, as well as the onsen. The room was spacious.
The onsen is separated by gender, my partner and I were hoping to have one together, but I guess that just shows my naivety and ignorance about the culture. Great location, in that it's very close to the temples, but further from the restaurants. Would recommend and stay again.

The staff are all very friendly and committed to serve the guests. the room is very clean.
The soundproofing is not good. the traffic noise woke me up at 5:30am and I even heard the talking sound from the next door. The price from Booking.com is too expensive which cost me 13 k+ Yen for one night while I found that the hotel's own price is less than 8k yen.
