The hotel is like a Tardis, bigger on the inside. From the street it looks like 1 small Chinese building, then inside is the entry lounge and reception with lots of antiques, then behind is a history about the building rooms. To the left goes into a courtyard garden with a bar open after 4pm and then into another building which our room was on the first floor. There is no lift in this building and there is 2 floors. To the right goes into another building which does have a lift and at the back the dinning room which has an open roof that closes if it rains. Amazing place. Breakfast is the full buffet, western and Asian food, Eggs cooked for you. The best value place we stayed at and very central, near Jonkers St, river and all the sites to see.

Nothing except our room was in the building that didn't have a lift so had to carry 2 suitcases upstairs, fortunately we were 1st floor but there is a second floor. If you want a lift then ask to be in the building that does have a lift. The hotel is over 3 building wide at the back but doesn't look big at the front. Our room was bland looked down the the garden courtyard and basic but had all we needed and weren't in there all day.

Travelled to Malacca for work purpose , it was a last minute decision of mine to stay here. But boy I was blown away by how beautiful the place is. the room is clean and the staff is very accomodating. im so glad that they provide breakfast daily throughout my stay, as its very convenient for me. The location was great and close to various tourist hotspot in Central Malacca. One thing that I regretted was not to book their spa service, definitely will come back in the future for this.

The parking area :( Its a few buildings away from the main building. Ive parked my car there throughout my stay, but the location made it feel unsafe and I didnt see any guards around everytime I was there. And how I wish the bathroom comes with a bidet

It was our first time in Malacca, so it took us a little time to familiarise ourselves. We quickly learned that from this accommodation we could walk to all the points of interest without any problems. The exterior may seem small, however, you learn that there is ample room within, both the rooms themselves and the internal spaces, with the breakfast area being a little oasis to relax and enjoy the quiet, all areas tastefully decorated with antiquities and the like. The staff were very helpful, check in was easy, the room was well appointed and large enough to accommodate us and our luggage easily. The room, the linen and the surrounds were all very clean, the bedding comfortable and the shower worked well. The wifi worked well throughout the property. Check out was also easy and we were a little sad to leave the hotel. We would highly recommend the Puri for your stay in Malacca.

All good on the hotel side and no complaints...we just had to deal with a noisy room 2 up from us, which didn't help.

It has been many years since we last stayed at the Hotel Puri and I think it has expanded to take over adjoining properties. It is right in the heart of the old town and walking distance to everywhere. Breakfast was included in the rate and was adequate for a day of sight seeing. It is excellent value for the cost.

The property (or at least the room we were allocated) is looking a little tired. The windows were shuttered making the room very dark and the catch was broken on one window. The bathroom is definitely in need of a redo.

The hotel is conveniently located in the bustling streets of Jonker. Beautifully designed, checking-in felt like stepping into culture. There is a glass lift leading to the bedrooms. Bedroom is equipped with basic necessities and it's clean. Breakfast is provided, nothing out of the ordinary but what impressed us was the dining / garden area, as it's beautiful and quaint. Most importantly, there is free private parking for guests, which made exploring Jonker by foot easy.

What would've been nice is if they have bidets in the toilet.

Breakfast was okay. Location was good with easy access to Jonkers as well as to other tourist spots. Staff were very helpful, especially the front door guy who helped with sorting out parking, pointing out directions to an excellent restaurant (Pak Putra) for THE best Tandoori chicken i have ever tasted. The more experienced staff at the desk were very approachable. The younger ladies at the desk were stern but oh so pretty!! The main contact at the desk (Firouse) was very helpful and patient with my endless queries.

nothing - the hotel has retained its old world charm (Baba) and i hope it never gets modernized like the Baba house!!!

Hotel Puri is an old merchants house, beautifully decorated in Peranankan style. Conveniently located to be able to walk to most things in Malacca and with a free car park less than 100 metres away. Staff are great; friendly and helpful. There is a very good spa on site. Reasonable room rates with a decent breakfast means this hotel is excellent value.

Beds a little hard but this is normal throughout Asia.

Location is great, breakfast is good too. Overall environment in the hotel was great.

We had a room that the aircon isn't working on the 2nd day, we notify the reception early in the morning. But it wasn't fix. So I request from the reception asking them change us a room in the afternoon, a malay guy at the reception is very rude told us there is no available room just to brush us off and say he will check the room now, but after he check he say he need time to fix it, i told him we need to rest. Why isn't this check and fix in the morning? I hope the hotel management can look into this on how to train your staff on how to manage guest request. I'm not sure is he a technician or a manager there.

Great location, in chinatown 5 minutes walk to Jonker street. Despite central location very quiet at night. The hotel is WOW. I sent photos to friends and they all asked why we live in a museum :-) V ery cozy courtyard, pleasant music plays at the reception, friendly staff. In room there was clean, beds are comfortable, pillows too. The only minus of the room was that our window overlooked the wall of a neighboring building. The hotel is really big and getting a room is a lottery. Some rooms have window with a normal view. But this is not a problem since we walked all day and only slept in the room. Definitely is a great hotel for the price. If the breakfasts would improved then the score is 10 points.

We're vegetarians and breakfast was very poor and monotonous for us. Only eggs in any style, tomatoes, cucumbers, bread, butter and jam, two kinds of fruit. Of course for meat eaters there are other options. There were also no baked goods at. The breakfast was the reason that I rated the hotel 9 instead of 10.

What I like most about Hotel Puri is it's location. It is conveniently located near Jonker Street and other places of interests like St. Paul's Hill, the Dutch Square, and Flora de La Mar Maritime Museum are very close by as well. Check in and check out were fast and the staff were helpful and very considerate too. They even gave us free extra parking coupons since we stayed passed the check-out time. We think the very informative History Room where we learned a lot about the history of the hotel and Malacca is a very good addition to the hotel.

This is not about what "we didn't like" about the hotel but rather suggestions of what can be improved. We had an amazing stay but for me (at least), I would have loved it even more if the use of plastic toiletries is eliminated. The breakfast buffet was also almost (if not) empty by the time we arrived at the courtyard and I guess this is something that the hotel can pay more attention to. The water pressure in our room was quite low but other than this we enjoyed our stay in Hotel Puri.
