Was a great value, big apartment, comfortable beds, and nice pool! Felt quite clean overall, and although busy, it wasn't very noisy around. Plenty of dishes and things to use, and was nice to get extra towels for the pool.

It's not necessarily bad, but the hotel is at the top of a very large hill and the incline is quite steep, so just to be prepared if you're walking rather than driving! The kitchen wasn't stocked with any cleaning supplies, so we had to buy our own dishwashing soap which I thought was a bit odd. There also wasn't anything like cooking oil or salt and pepper-- kitchen basics, which I understand but was a little annoying. The sofa was also a bit run down and sticky.

It is a very convenience place and easy access to Carvoeiro downtown. It is only within 30 minutes drive to some famous beaches and only 12 minutes drive to Percurso dos Sete Vales Suspensos. The stay is spacious. The beds are comfortable.

We were disappointed with the ocean view. The room we had is not exactly ocean view and can't remember the room number. It is only a little bit because the most is hidden by the bushes. The best recommendation is to request second floor if book for ocean view. Beside that, I would like to thank Touna(receptionist) very much for her help to arrange of getting a room with an ocean view but no luck. She was very patient and willing to help.

Very good location close to amenities, restaurants and beach, great view from our apartment (67), clean apartment with good furnishings (apart from bed) and well kept grounds. Nice pools with enough sun beds, friendly reception staff, cleaning staff and grounds people. Lovely.

Very uncomfortable and noisy bed in that particular apartment. Apartment 67 was frontline and on the first floor, which meant a great view but unfortunately also lots of noise from the stage and bars at night time. Not too bad when doors and windows were shut but very noisy on the balcony. I have stayed in another apartment at Monte Dourado which was on the ground floor and a little further back and it was very quiet. You can’t have everything. Also only one socket in the kitchen which was a little difficult.

Facilities were well maintained, and cared for we stayed for 7 nights and got clean towels once and cleaning (we got a LOt of towels, which was great!), apartment was very completely equipped, plenty of space in our 6 bedroom appt, we enjoyed the pool, the view, the surroundings with beautiful beaches, even a fireplace to keep us warm and cozy on the colder nights in January. It was a great winter-escape and highly recommend it!

One of the resorts pools was heated and we swam there, but it was still on the chilly side and the kids lasted no more then 20-30 min on sunny days. (Wheather was quite cold January; 16-18 degrees) In the end we swam in the ocean mostly, which was only a very short enjoyable walk away.

The apartment was very spacious and clean. The staff at reception were exceptionally friendly and efficient. They went out of their way to help us with transfers to and from the property. There are many good restaurants within a short walk from the hotel. Three we liked were Donna Maria, Levels and A Vela. Tyron at Levels was exceptionally friendly and Antonia at A Vela was a hoot. The food at all three restaurants was excellent. All in all, our stay at the Monte Dourado was very comfortable. We highly recommend it. Exceptional value.

The hotel has several units spread out on a hill. The walk up to the units is quite steep. It is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Very central and easily accessible for beach, restaurants and shops. Well kept complex. We had requested where possible a ground floor apartment and this was accommodated.

Apartment very spacious and exceptionally clean however was a bit dated and kitchen could have been better equipped for basics. Couldn’t find a chopping board. This was however only applicable to the apartment we stayed in. Have stayed many times in different apartments and this will not put us off future stays in the complex.

Unfair. What happens if you get there and the unit is unacceptable?

I’ve always liked this property (53a), and have stayed there 3 times. I travel alone so it’s always reassuring to know where you’re located, the route into town if walking etc. I recently had a total hip replacement and the peace and calm of the location is ideal for me together with very few stairs. The property is well equipped, clean and tidy and the staff at reception are exceptionally helpful.

A few basics would help - salt and pepper, tea and coffee etc. I run a property management company in South Devon in the UK so appreciate that a few basics do make a difference especially if arriving late.

Amazing location- 2 minute walk to shops, restaurants and beach. It’s all about the location with this property - yea there are probably more luxury apartments in the town but you would have to walk 25 -30 mins or get a taxi. Great jump off point for the 7 hanging valley hike.

Wee bit cold - we went in December have been nice if someone would have switched in the heating before we arrived as it gets pretty chilly at night and takes a long time to warm up.

Apartment is spacious. Could sleep 4 in beds and has 2 sofa beds but there was only 2 of us. Liked the facilities like the dishwasher and Washing machine. Was pleased with our proximity to the pool but couldn't use it much as weather was too cold (that isn't their fault though). Is in a good location and close to Carvoeiro village and beach (it's at the top of a hill but that is the case for most places here).

There was a charge to use the safe (10 euro for the week). No reception for the first day and a half of our stay, as its closed on evenings after 6 and on Sunday. Had some questions that would have preferred to have been able to ask immediately and not a day into pur stay. Could have done with a few basic essentials such as washing up liquid etc. In the kitchen as it isnt worth us buying them for such a short trip.
