Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Grande Hotel very much. Service was excellent. Especially the bar man. The Classic Double Room was comfortable and spacious enough. All the surrounding areas at reception: the lounge, the bar were extremely comfortable and relaxing. Location was great and the room was quiet.

I think breakfast could definitely be improved upon. It was very mediocre for such an establishment. Not bad. Just not good enough. The room was dark, the queuing system messy etc. The other thing that was out of place was the dreadful piped music playing in the background. Again, not quite right for such an establishment. Certainly, unnecessary. It seems that in trying to appeal to a younger clientele they risk alienating a more mature clientele. The management seem a bit confused about how to reconcile appealing to a more general crowd with a more sophisticated one. Apart from this everything was excellent.

staff were very helpful and professional. We drove from Lisbon, not knowing that the hotel is on a street that's inaccessible to cars, but the staff were waiting for us , and helped unload our car at the nearby corner, and provided directions to a nearby parking garage. Every time we asked for advice ( restaurant advice, shopping advice, tour advice) staff were always helpful and interested. Breakfast was always tasty and enjoyable in the large dining room.

my only suggestion is to have better pillows! Otherwise, our stay was perfect !

So the first night the hot water was not working, which was a problem all over the hotel, but we only found this out when checking in from someone else complaining, this went on over night so after a flight i could not shower, i had to ask reception how long this would take and it did not take until the following morning, ok but we could have had some communication about it. Do not use the coffee as they charge for every pod, and the pringles which are not on the list, this was not on the bar sheet or on any information and they asked for the coffee pod money before we went, which i refused, sorry but this should have been advertised, and perhaps few free cups made up for the shower not working the first night, so nothing lost. The hotel was nice and central the staff were pleasant and nothing really to moan about. Breakfast good.

As above prices for bar should been clearer ie COFFEE PODS

Breakfast was exceptionally good, the room was great, slept really well. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I only wish we'd taken the tram from the airport, as it is so close to a station. We are definitely going to return to this hotel.

It was all great. There was nothing we didn't like. It was a lovely classic hotel and we loved it.

All of it, especially its location. Perfect room, just great!

Nothing! It was just perfect! When we were dropped off at the entrance by the taxi, we thought, "Oh no, this is not going to be good" The street it is on was busy with pedestrians and we thought it was going to be noisy. Absolutely not!! What a wonderful place to stay. It's probably Victorian, and the decor is lovely! Super friendly staff, a very comfortable room and a great breakfast. It's definitely worth staying here. We would stay there again. It's well placed centrally and only 700 m from the Louis I Bridge, so easy walking distance.

The hotel is a late 19th century building and is totally charming. The staff were always helpful and kind. Any requests were immediately dealt with and nothing was too much trouble. They also were able to arrange day trips and provided lots of good information. We were in what is termed a cosy room, which may have poor connotations, however we loved the room, which appeared to be recently refurbished and repainted and the bathroom was also lovely. The location is also excellent, being right in the centre of the old town, opening onto a pedestrians only street.

That we couldn’t afford to stay here longer!

if you want to visit Porto this hotel is right in the center of the main shopping street, we had a room at the back and we heard nothing (our visit was on the 25/6/2023 party night) Breakfast was perfect Fruit/Savory etc., plenty of it and I loved the white Linen table cloths. But I would say you need to be physically fit as currently the trams are not running .

our flight was late out of Porto 10.25pm and it would have been nice if we could have had a shower before we left we did ask at reception and they did extend it to 13.00pm but that was not any use to us .

The hotel is in a pedestrian zone. Lots of people walking, street musicians and close to the Metro. Grocery store in mall nearby. The hotel has a roof-top terrace -- a great place to eat take-away and drink wine. The breakfast was one of the best in our travels -- lots to choose from. We booked 2 nights in January, went to Madeira for a week then came back to this hotel for another 3 nights. Our mistake was not booking 4 nights. So if you want to walk out of your hotel in the morning greeted by pedestrians and street musicians instead of vehicles, stay at this hotel. It is what it's name is: Grande!

We've seen the reviews about the small rooms, and yes, the mini rooms are small, but you get to choose your room when you book. The mini rooms are cheaper. We booked the mini rooms for the 5 nights and what we didn't spend on a bigger room, we spent on wine for the roof-top terrace.

Charming hotel with loads of ambience & past glory represented by its illustrious guest list. In the middle of Porto's main (walking) shopping drag. Metro Bolhão nearby very useful.

Not the hotel's fault, but it's not easy to navigate round Porto using public transport. The bus routes are a mysterious labyrinth. The walk down to and back up is only for healthy people. Unlike Lisbon, the travel pass only for buses and metro, not trams, funicular, ferries, etc. Train strike was a disaster....... The room was small for 2 with full luggage allowance.

This was an amazing find. I originally booked it because I was surprising my partner and the decor was exactly their favourite kind. But then we were pleasantly surprised how central the location was, the room was far bigger than anticipated, the staff were WONDERFULLY friendly, and the whole hotel was just beautiful. The breakfast buffet was standard quality but with a big variety so we enjoyed that, as well as a late night drink at their bar in one of their many relaxing rooms and lobbies. Really just being there was a fantastic experience.

Unfortunately since the hotel is quite old, we had a LOT of noise in the night time. We were staying on the first floor and there were people walking around over our heads each night we were there. The first night we barely slept because of it, the second night we used earplugs and it helped but still chairs scraping etc. was a nuisance. There also wasn't an iron in the room or available via the front desk (although there may have been some, just "rented out" at the time) so we couldn't wear some of our clothes (only a few pieces and didn't want to pay a fee.) But otherwise this hotel was amazing and I'd probably go back again.
