The property is an iconic building in central Porto which has been refurbished to a high standard. The entrance hall and reception are very well appointed and the plaza immediately outside the hotel leads within a km to the cathedral.

We were disappointed with our room. NH are usually very modern but the pictures on the website revealed a reburbishment in the old style with lots of points of original interest. We asked for a superior room which we assume would have interest old style features. But our room was modern and without any features whatsoever. Comfortable but very dull.

The location was good - high on the hill overlooking the river. The hotel is in a square where there are some bars and restaurants and close to the town centre. I did not realise however how hilly the area is! We had room only and the room was spacious, spotlessly clean and airy. The bathroom was lovely and again, spotless. There were little nice touches, such as complimentary water and vouchers to sample Port wine.

We found the dining and bar area a little "sterile" and quiet. We were surprised at the lack of general maintenance to some communal areas around the bedrooms. Scuffed walls and doors and there is evidence that a little TLC is needed for a four star hotel.

on this trip our first and last hotels were NHs.The bedding, especially the three different sized pillows and the mattress were very fresh, clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and attentive. This particular property really ticks a lot of boxes at a good value for the price point.

The property itself is fantastic. The facade is old world Porto, the lobby has architectural arches mixed in with modern renovations. Key card access to room floors, security cameras and lots of staff around. Very convenient to all top tourist attractions by foot; however, the square directly in front of the hotel and the National Theater across the street are hangouts for homeless/rougher elements. We were a mother/young adult daughter traveling together, so we were coming back together and not too late. You can see that other cafes/restaurants on the square have mixed family/ young student/ adult customers. I would just keep this in mind if you were traveling alone and/or thinking about coming back very late by foot.

The location is perfect for discovering Porto and only a short walk to the Funicular that takes you down to river level if you have had enough of the hilly streets. Our room was quite small but had a balcony overlooking the square which was delightful. We don't normally expect hotel restaurants to be of a particularly high standard but the restaurant here was exceptionally good and we dined there twice. Live music in the bar later one night was good too - a very talented guitarist. Staff were very helpful. We will stay again if we revisit Porto.

Parking was not on site. We unpacked the car and then took it to secure parking the hotel has near by - that said the concierge travelled with us to the car park to ensure we did not get lost and to let us in as it is very secure.

The hotel was great. Even though a vehicle cannot stop in front of the hotel, the curbside location around the corner was convenient enough that carrying our luggage to the front door was a problem. The hotel is also a convenient walk to dining, shopping, the river and other sites. The room was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would stay there again. Staff was very friendly and informative. The welcome glass of port was a nice surprise, and being able to borrow umbrellas came in handy the day it rained.

Although the room was stylish, it would be nice to have some drawers. The shelves in the closet helped, but a small dresser would be nice. One of the faucets in our bathroom had a small leak that created a pool of water on the counter.

Excellent Hotel with friendly and professional staff. Very attentive. The hotel reached out in advance of our arrival to inquiry about any special needs we may have and whether we needed information about Oporto. Very modern rooms and facilities in an 18th century building. The location could not have been better. Family suite was large and the bathroom spacious including full bath and separate shower. We loved our stay and will certainly return on our next visit to Oporto.

I liked everything.

I had already messaged the hotel to say it was my wife's birthday week, we were greeted by Sara, who immediately said as it was my wifes special birthday they had given us a room with a view over Porto, we were then taken to the room and WOW there was a bottle of sparkling and cake to greet us and also another bonus a small balcony. Nothing was too much trouble for Sara and her team. We would definitely go back as location was superb and the choices at Breakfast was plentiful.

We stayed at other boutique hotels during our stay and their service was over the top and very personalized. Helpful with luggage, breakfast included, welcome liqour was given, and extreme personalized attention to anything you needed. I don't know if it is the difference between a small boutique hotel and a corporate hotel...everything was done as it should have been done...nothing personalized, very generic, not very memorable but nothing was done wrong.

Good sized room, comfortable bed and a good shower. The breakfast had a good selection and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It's a great location, close to the medieval district and a range of bars and restaurants. Easy to get to the main places for sightseeing.

The swimming pool was a bit of a disappointment as it's very small so I decided not to use it in the end. Not really big enough for real swimming.

Great customer service. Very warm welcome. Immediate fix to the non-working room safe. We had a balcony with our room which overlooked the street-market area below. Excellent central location, right by the main shopping streets.

Room size was OK, but not noteworthy. Although a central location, be aware Porto is very hilly. It is a hike down to the river where most of the restaurants are. The most direct route includes nearly 300 stairs (downwards), and it would have killed us to walk back up to the hotel!.....we had to get an Uber/taxi. Also note, if arriving by train, the main intercity station is out of the city (Campanha) and is linked to the central city station (Sao Bento) by an urban service. This station is again an uphill trek to the hotel.
