Out room was right by the parking lot and if we had our windows open people could just see right at the bed or if they wanted, could climb in and join us in bed. I wish there was some more priva

Location was brilliant with onsite parking. The choice at breakfast was good, something for everyone. The room was a good size and comfortable.

Check in could have been better as there wasn’t anyone around that could talk English so we didn’t have anything explained. The pillows were paper thin. However, we spoke to housekeeping after the first night, they gave us other pillows immediately. The flies at breakfast were an issue for us (all 3 mornings). A couple are understandable but this was far more - hard to want the food when it has flies walking over it !!! This issue could easily be addressed.

Breakfast was fabulous. All local meats and cheeses. Room was lovely as well. Location was great - 10 min walk from the train station. Love that they give you a bus pass a a tourist. Thanks so much!

Our bathroom was beautiful - recently remodeled. I did see mold starting to grow in the shower. It's a humid climate and there was no fan in the shower. It wasn't anything alarming but if you are sensitive to mold, I wanted to make sure to mention it. I meant to mention it to the staff but she was on the phone when we left and I totally forgot. I am positive that they would have listened and remedied.

Pro The location is nice , right next to first cliff cable car, lots of shops, restaurants . Room is basic but comfy (I think they newly furnished). Receptionist was kind. Room was spacious.

Cons - no kettle provided - breakfast was bare minimum…We stayed there three days. Not much variety and mostly cold food. (Though bacon and egg should be hot , they were also cold) Bread was cold too, which a toaster there could’ve easily made it slightly better… - the room doesn’t have a Mountain View , we faced the street, but it was blocked by the building in front

Convenient location at the top of the main street Excellent Italian restaurant, the most popular restaurant in town among tourists. Helpful friendly family run staff

No in-room tea or coffee-making facilities (although the kitchen was happy to supply a flask of hot water and cups for us to make our early morning tea) No English language tv channels

The staff works incredibly hard to make sure their guests are happy and treated well. The location was perfect - steps away from the "First" Chair access. The breakfast was solid, and the kitchen staff went out of their way to make us scrambled eggs and a cappuccino every morning. We will absolutely stay there again if we return to Grindelwald.

We liked everything about this place! (We knew going in there would be no A/C in the rooms). Overall great family-run restaurant and hotel. Grindelwald as a whole is quite buggy. There are tons of cows in the area. This is not the restaurant/hotel's fault, though many of the reviews seem to blame the issue on the hotel. The hotel staff does everything they can to remediate the issue (in the restaurant area on the first floor; spinning fly swatters at every table).

The staff was very very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were able to get in after a long and late night of traveling to the hotel! The main lady in the restaurant also went out of her way to accommodate gf bread for me for each breakfast and even sent some for me to take for a later meal.

The pillows are very flat, difficult to sleep comfortably. No mini refrigerator or anything to save leftovers.

Room is renovated and it s very modern so it s a positive surprise as the photos shows old decorations. Very centrally located which naturally means there are noises if you open the window - not an issue though if u close it. I was lucky to get a corner room with balcony- nice view from there.

Intolerable amount of flies in their restaurant and breakfast place.

Very nice small hotel! 15 minutes walking distance to the train station, 3 minutes walking to the Grindelwald First cable car, 30 minutes walking the the Glacier canyon. Very good restaurant on the 1st floor with tasty food and acceptable prices.

"Shower gel and shampoo" kit is too small for a long hair.

The staff, location, food and overfall feel of this hotel was amazing. They treat you like family. You can walk to shops/restaurants, hop on a bus right outside of the hotel to catch the train - it could not have been more convenient. The photos of the outside of the hotel do not do it justice. It feels like you are staying in a beautiful swiss cottage (which basically you are) with the backdrop of the Alps and the village all around you. The rooms are also cozy and a nice size. We didn't have any issues with hot water or anything in the room/hotel. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant a few nights. Food was delicious and the staff goes above and beyond to take care of you. Breakfast was yummy and generous as well. We will definitely be back!
