I enjoyed all 7 nights at this small,family- run Chalet . It's a 15 -second walk to the best ski gondola("First") and near many cafes and restaurants -yet it's quiet because it's set back from the main street .I even slept with the windows wide open. Many rooms have balconies that offer grand views of the dramatic mountains. Comprehensive breakfast,with healthy options. I can't imagine a better location in all of Grindelwald.(And I explored everywhere)The bus stop is a half -minute walk away from the front door. Pleasant and cheerful front office staff,cleaning staff and breakfast staff. Comfortable bed.Good strong hot water in the tub/shower. Consistently good wifi signal all 7 nights.

We’ve stayed in Grindelwald twice before but wish we’d found the Hotel Alte Post sooner. It’s fabulously located, the room we had was large with a balcony and a fabulous view of the Eiger to wake up to. The housekeeping staff were lovely and friendly, as were the staff at breakfast and on reception. We felt very comfortable and welcomed. The owner was a lovely lady who was incredibly helpful. We liked everything about this Swiss style property!

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Location is outstanding. Our room was large, beds were comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean. View from our balcony was breathtakingly lovely. Breakfast buffet offered many choices; scrambled eggs were made to order and were absolutely delicious. Hotel staff were charming and helpful.

The bathtub/shower rim was very high and difficult for an older person (75) to climb over. This feature would limit my ability to return to the hotel unless some bathrooms were configured specifically for persons with mobility issues.

Breakfast was delicious, complete with fruits, a selection of yoghurt, delicious breads. The view from the balcony is perfect, with a full view of the Eiger and the canyon. We could see the entrance to the Firstbahn from the breakfast room. The staff was amazing, Helena in particular was very helpful. The decoration is simple and elegant, especially the style on the sheets, curtains, and towels. There are some skulls in the walls from hunted animals which may be creepy or sad to some.

The animal skulls in the walls are a bit creepy to me, but seems to be part of the local culture.

Room was large with a large balcony and a very nice view to the mountains on the other side of the valley. The hotel is located right next to the First gondola, and steps away from the main street where many restaurants may be found, as well as a bus stop. Breakfast was very nice. Free parking was available in the hotel's private parking lot.

The only downside is the price, but it's not more expensive than comparable options in Grindelwald.

Very pretty chalet with a character. Conveniently located near First. It's a 10 minute uphill walk from station but easy to do, there is a bus as well. Rooms had beautiful views. Perfect for a group if you can get rooms together. Very friendly owner providing personal attention to needs. We had one of the best breakfasts here. Overall a memorable stay. There is a very good restaurant with friendly and attentive service.

Perfect starting point for hikes: Grindelwald First and Grindelwald terminal are nearby. Parking spot at the hotel was perfect. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

A charging station option for electrical vehicles at the hotel would be perfect. We only had one location (due to our charging pass of SwissCharge/MobiliyPlus Europe) to charge our car in Grindelwald, unfortunately that one with limited access as well.

Everything! It’s centrally located, just 10 mins from the train station. The views from the hotel were unbeatable. But what we loved the most was the food — not just at the breakfast buffet, but the restaurant as well. It was outstanding! We are fairly everywhere in Grindelwald, but the freshness, quality and taste of the food was just terrific.

Absolutely nothing!

Good location next to 'Grindelwald First' cable car. Pleasant staff & a good breakfast. Good size room & generally a very pleasant hotel.

We thought that the beds were too soft. The room rates in Grindelwald are generally VERY high & this property was no exception @ CHF300 per night. I would expect to pay theses sort of rates at a 5* property but maybe I'm just old-fashioned!!

The view of our mountain view was exceptional. The room was a good size and quite comfortable. Most of the staff were friendly but it would be good to tell guests at check-in that if they wish to dine in the restaurant they should makea reservation, while sitting outside you do not. The breakfast was very good and the owner and waitress out front were very friendly and welcoming.

Some of the staff were a bit seemed a bit annoyed at our general questions but that was balanced by others who were very helpful.
