Loved the welcoming staff, my room was a single room with a shared bathroom and they both were very clean- the bathroom was cleaned daily. The breakfast was traditional European- very fresh fruits, vegetables, a variety of fresh bread, tea/coffee, cheeses, yoghurt and granola with an egg. And if you wanted more they would give you extra of whatever you fancied. It was wonderful and made you feel right at home. Even though the single room had a shared bathroom, you had your own sink and mirror in your room which made getting ready for bed very easy! I loved it there

The rooms facing the streets were a bit noisy at night (since the hotel is on the main strip which makes for a fantastic location). However, I could have upgraded to a view of the glacier and it would’ve been very quiet! But since I was on a budget and recognize that this happens, I just brought earplugs and was totally fine sleeping through the street noise. Im very happy I chose to stay at this hotel. The hotel was so close to everything (coop, restaurants, stores, train station etc)

Hotel Tschuggen in Grindelwald offers an exceptional stay in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The hosting owners provide outstanding hospitality, making us feel like valued guests from the moment we arrived. The location of the hotel is truly perfect, surrounded by breathtaking high mountains that offer a mesmerizing view. Waking up to the sight of snow-capped peaks was a dream come true. The rooms are big enough for all suitcases and backpacks, combining the room's comfort and the bed's comfort and size. The attention to detail and cleanliness was impressive. The hosting owners' genuine care and personalized service made our stay even more special. They were always available to offer recommendations and ensure our needs were met. Our time at Hotel Tschuggen was truly unforgettable, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a magical retreat in Grindelwald.

no cons, the stay was just perfect

People complain about the breakfast at this hotel. I don't know why. The breakfast was brilliant! The hotel is ran by a couple, and every morning one or both of them (or an employee/partner) was there, in a small kitchen area, working hard to wait on everyone in the breakfast room. Their food is simple, yet delicious and plentyful. There were hard-boiled Swiss-style eggs (coloured shells), 4 or so varieties of bread, porridge, yogurt, nutella spread, salami, cheeses, croissants, jam, butter, fruits and a few more things I forgot. The fruits were particularly delicious, which is impressive for winter time Switzerland. The rooms were not very spacious, but they were sufficiently big to be comfy. The view was spetacular, the heat was just perfect, the bed was clean and comfy, the toilet was clean and functional. There is a shed for ski equipment. There is no lift, but one doesn't need a lift. The place is not that big, guys, just exercise and you will be fine. One only needs to bring the bags up once anyway. There is no fridge. That might be a problem on summer, but on winter time, we used our balcony as a fridge and it had all space one can dream of. This is a 2-star hotel. I've been to 4-star hotels which were not as good as this.

I have 3 comments, rather than complaints: 1. The light was too dim, especially in the bathroom. Nothing too concerning though. 2. Although we had booked a double bed, the bed consisted of 2 mattresses on a single frame, and 2 duvets. It was as comfy as hotel beds get, but I didn't like the gap in the middle, as my wife and I like to snuggle. 3. The walking path outside is a bit tricky to walk on ski boots if it's too slippery. Some sort of mat (like those rubbery ones) would be perfect for these occasions. Again this is not a complaint, just a few suggestions to make this hotel further impressive.

Very nice staff , went out of their to help us when needed ,breakfast included is very filling. Hotel was exceptionally clean The price is a bit steep. However, now knowing the prices in Grindlewald, I can understand why

Being an older building, other people tend not to realise that walking around with heavy shoes inside your room makes the noise to the lower floors unbearable. I did speak to the other guests directly, and they apologised quickly and were much quieter after.

Lovely little hotel in the centre of Grindelwald. Very central to everything. Both the train station and First gondola are only 5 mins walk. Lots of shops and restaurants around. Breakfast was plentiful incl cereals, bread, cheese(of course) juice and tea/coffee. Room was clean, shower was hot and the hosts were really nice people. An added bonus was my room had a balcony view of Mt Eiger which was amazing. Would definitely stay here again if back in Grindelwald.

My only minor gripe was the Wi-Fi was very intermittent. It cut out a lot of times and had to keep reconnecting but other than that no other complaints

The hosts Monika and Robert were so cheerful, friendly and helpful, they really made our stay feel more special. It may only be a 2 star hotel, but it deserves 10 out of 10 for what they offer. Very good value for money, the breakfast was great, and our room was clean, comfortable and had the most magnificent direct, unobstructed view of Mt Eiger. We also loved being right in town for shops, restaurants and was so easy to use the bus (free with hotel stay) to the terminal and Grindelwald First.

Perhaps some tissues, and some tea, coffee and sugar could be supplied in the room as there is a kettle.

I don’t know where to start. We had an wonderful experience at Hotel Tschuggen and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. The room was clean and cozy and we all slept well. We appreciated the space in the family room (with bunks) for our kids. The Eiger views from the balcony were breathtaking during the day but even more so as the sun was setting. The breakfast was delicious and got our days full of activities off to a great start. All of the staff were delightful.

The hotel was well located for connections by, train, bus & cable car to all the must see sites in the region. All staff were very friendly, rooms were a good size and I had the single with a shared bathroom, all clean and tidy. The continental breakfast was very good, with plenty of options to help kick start your day.

The reason I could not give excellent was the noise. The room seemed hollow, as a light sleeper I could hear every movement, and conversation from other guest going or in their rooms, especially the only room on the top floor which had access next to my room. The hotels position next to other hotels on the main road, led to late night noise pollution from other tourist which continued until the early hours, even with the windows closed very little was blocked out which was a shame. I am not sure how that would effect rooms to the rear.

The incredible uninterrupted view of the Eiger from our private balcony made this stay unforgettable. Cannot beat the location in the centre of the village, you can easily walk to everything including the main train station & the gondola. Beds were super comfortable and the room is very cosy, traditional Swiss chalet vibes.

Very nice staff, helpful in all situations. Even gave us crotches when my daughter had an injury. Breakfast is good, even organized vegan milk for coffee upon request. Ski-room is well equipped.

One room with the view to the mountains was great. The other looking to the street o.K.. The shared bathroom was o.K. but the room slightly funny shaped with the danger to bump your had when entering (and I am not particularly tall: 1,75m). As in almost all hotels one would wish for more possibilities to hang your ski-wear so it can dry.
