The hotel is well situation uphill, which enables you to see the lovely town from above. In the sunny days, you can see the top of Matterhorn tainted with sunshine. Very friendly and helpful staff who are always ready to help. I am happy with the size of the room and the view, just as described on the internet. The hotel arranges transport to and from the railway station, so you don't have to walk uphill with the heavy luggage. The hotel is 6 min's walk from the Gornergrat Bahn and Sunnegga cable car station. A lot of variety for breakfast. I specially like the orange juice machine. The lamb from the Grill (name of the restaurant) is fantastic. It's also an interesting experience trying the cheese fondue in the lovely hut. Wish I could visit again.

What a wonderfully comfortable, GREAT location with EXCELLENT food! Breakfast was filling with many options. Dinner was divine with many options for meat eaters & a few for vegetarians. The giant tubs inside & outside helped soothe sore muscles while enjoying the views. There are spa services also. The hotel shuttle picked us up at the Zermatt Bahnhof (train station) for a quick 5 minutes ride to the hotel. And the VIEWS OF THE MATTERHORN & surrounding mountains--OH MY! How does one describe perfection? GREAT CHOICE for a honeymoon or to re-commit to lifelong marriage. Rain or shine. This is the place to be.

The property is beautiful and overall, staff helpful. Loved our room and the view!

Only issue was the gentleman who picked us up at the train and took us back. Not friendly picking us up and extremely rude when taking us back. We had to wait a moment to get something when we were checking out (mind you reception staff was wonderful). Our ride to the rail station was not there and we were getting worried. Called up to the reception and they must have called him. Other guests around and when he pulled up he literally yelled at us and reprimanded us in front of others that we were late and not there at the exact time. We were shocked and embarrassed. After such a lovely stay, that was not the ending we were hoping for or expecting.

The hotel has clearly spent a lot of money and thought in the general decor of the hotel which gives all the rooms a warm, rich, individualistic feel. There are great views of the Matterhorn from the front of the hotel including the balcony of our room. Breakfast is exceptional, provided in a bright, warm dining room with a fantastic selection of cheeses, meats, cereals fruit, breads etc. There are comfortable outside and indoor bars with an extensive range of drinks and reasonable range of bar food. the dining room grill is another very pleasant room and the food was good though quite expensive. There are spa facilities which we did not use and a pool. The room had complimentary teas, coffee and water and a little cake each day. It was possible to borrow a special Swiss adaptor from the hotel but we weren't told that there was a 20 franc deposit. We only discovered this when it was taken off our bill on departure. We had to leave very early on the morning of our departure and the hotel provided us with a great packed lunch. There is a free transfer to and from the station, though this didn't work so well for our pickup. Zermatt is a very walkable town and there seems to be lots to do for children as well as adults and loads of places to eat.

We waited half an hour at the station to be picked up and then had to phone the hotel to ask them to send someone. Nobody apologised for this until we explicitly asked if there had been a problem, at which point the person dealing with us said 'oh yes, sorry'...not really a fulsome apology. We thought this might not bode well for our stay but it was just a one off. Our departure was too early for their in-house transfer but they arranged a taxi at their expense.

I liked everything about the hotel. The location is amazing - very close to the center but a little bit on the hill and very calm, with fantastic view at Matterhorn. It is an old historic hotel very beautifully renovated. The rooms are beautiful, the beds very comfortable. The staff is very professional. Everything is very well organised including the hotel car to the train station. The breakfast is really fantastic and I also once had a dinner in the hotel which was also great. All in all - absolutely perfect experience!

Hotel was recently redone - and has all amenities of a 5* hotel; particularly the rooms. we went for the cheapest room category and it was amazing. the level of amenities, the bathroom, the linen/mattress/sheets/bathrobe/slippers; all the little details (daily fresh complimentary cakes; teas etc); huge 30m2 terrace. amazing new spa with outside terrace facing matterhorn; sauna outside. amazingly long indoor pool, smaller outdoor pool facing matterhorn; beautiful garden & bar; helpful breakfast staff (they cooked my own vegetables); quiet. fabulous - we booked it long in advance. best ever value for money..

Met us at the train stop everyone friendly. Room was big great deck looking at the Matterhorn which cost extra but worth every dollar ! Breakfast was fantastic. Great omelette fresh squeezed oj 5 star place at 4 star prices Very comfortable. Not stuffy at all

The bathroom was huge but only one sink. And the hot tub wasn’t hot enough. But heck they had one! Actually 3 2 indoors and 1 out. Sure during ski season they got that baby cranking. But the sauna temp was perfect!

The service was excellent from the moment we were met at the station. The entire hotel has a warm and friendly ambiance and the facilities are superb. We had a large room with a wonderful view of the Matterhorn. The Concierge was particularly helpful in suggesting suitable trips whilst we were there. The centre of Zermatt can be very crowded during the day, but although the hotel is close to the centre it is an a quiet and peaceful location.

Absolutely nothing!

Stunning outdoor pool/jacuzzi overlooking the Matterhorn. There are Sun loungers inside and out and an indoor pool also and lovely spa. The grill restaurant was fabulous, we had steak and it was absolutely delicious. the staff are very attentive.

It is pricey, but I think that is Switzerland for you, There is a tram that runs behind the hotel, so if you are sleeping with the window open you can hear it in the morning. However, we wouldn’t hesitate to come back.
