Location right opposite the abbey, great staff, cocktails believe the reviews they are outstanding. Sunday lunch was fabulous. The decor in the main hotel is lovely, quirky and high end. And the Vaults - we had no real reason to go down there other than someone came by and booked it for two years time, so had to have a look. It was a beautiful space and am desperately trying to create a reason to book it.
Decor was odd, lighting not great can’t see inside the wardrobe as it’s so dark mirror opposite bathroom door so see inside bathroom from pretty much anywhere in the room. BUT WORST OF ALL the toilet paper. Everywhere in the hotel this toilet paper was so thin it disintegrated on contact with fingertips let alone anywhere else.

All very good. Really loved the stay. Staff excellent, which is the main thing.
Reception was a bit confusing at first as we thought there was one receptionist and someone was booking in but the other person standing there was a porter/concierge. Got there after asking. The only towel rail in the bathroom was the radiator towel rail which wasn't convenient from the shower. Needed a rail by the shower and one by the hand basins for the hand towels. It wouldn't take much to sort that out but they may have their reasons. Lovely furnishings and a lovely room, but there was nowhere for the ladies to sit for their make up and hair dry with a mirror etc. it's surprising how many hotels are the same in this regard.

really personal service at check in, carrying our bags and parking the car for us. And on check out same attentive service, car outside ready, bags carried for us. Super.
The twin beds could have been moved further apart, but I understand most rooms are set up for one bed. Mis mash of furniture styles in the room, the bedside tables look very worn, room 014. I understand the pressure hotels must have been through after covid but £189 for a room in Bury St Edmunds is expensive considering the room wasn’t what I call luxurious.

Excellent location for shops and restaurants, and beautiful Abbey Gardens opposite. The service was outstanding, especially from the concierge, (Steve) who went above and beyond in helping us to settle in. All staff were polite and attentive, and the breakfast was really good.
Although our room was tastefully furnished, the paintwork was a little tired. The hotel car park is very small, and although we were able to use it, some of the guests' cars were moved to an off site car park. This was not a major problem, as the concierge was always on hand to retrieve the vehicles if needed.

Location was perfect, Bury St Edmonds is great. Standard room was more than suitable for a short trip, bed was extremely comfy. Lounge is reserved for hotel guests which is a great perk!!! Cocktails were very good. Afternoon Tea was very nice.
Bar was very busy Saturday night and struggled to serve drinks to hotel lounge tables. No priority over walk-in customers. No iron in room, and we only had 1 coffee bag. Heated towel rack is great! but its extremely hot and can burn very easily! I recommend you add a warning sticker.

Location. Comfortable & clean room. Lovely helpful, hard working porters.
Poor waitressing service. On 2/3 occasions I chose to order food or tea, I was not served & had to get up each time and look for staff. On none of these occasions were they busy serving other guests, they were just grouped together socialising with each other. On another occasion I arranged to meet a friend in the bar but she messaged to say bar staff had told her she could not wait for me there as there were no seats left & she was not allowed to stand at the bar.

A traditional coaching inn in the centre of a nice town. Recently refurbished by the look of it with good décor. Nice bar area.
Although the room was large, clean and recently refurbished it suffered a common hotel problem of only having one comfortable chair to sit in, there was easily room for two. Also although there were several power outlets, there were none by the bed to allow charging of phones overnight. There was a horrible shower curtain that tried to wrap itself around you in use - why do places still use those not fixed doors?

On arrival we received great service, car parking, luggage and booking in all dealt with in a most pleasant fashion. The room was very well equipped and we lacked nothing. We asked to be close to our accompany relative and this was done, also for a ground floor room also achieved. We ate both breakfast and some dinners at the Angel. The food was nicely prepared and service excellent. The location is superb both for the town and also for the Cathedral which was the reason for our visit. The bathroom was fine and very well lit. The shower facilities excellent and easy to use.
The room only had a small sash window offset to the left. the walls had been decorated in mainly dark colours. Lighting was subdued so reading was light was poor, especially by the desk. This is a fairly pricey hotel but the food was at the upper end of acceptable cost.

The breakfast was great and I full appreciated the accommodation of a gluten free option. Our dog was made to feel really welcome and was great to be able to enjoy the night away with our fur child in tow. The lounge area was stylishly decorated and a great place for our evening night cap and the cocktails were delicious. The concierge parking service was fantastic and meant we could off load the car alongside the hotel's side entrance with the parking of our vehicle taken care of. The dog friendly room had a very comfortable bed and great cotton linen with a shower over the bath - good hard water pressure with steaming hot water - just like I like it. The façade of the building covered in ivy is picturesque and the central location opposite the abbey gardens & ruins was great and perfect for enjoying the local food & wine festival being held.
I don't really enjoy shower curtains but that is so very minor, not a major issue and not sure a glass swing door would be practical given the layout. The coffee facilities and biscuits in the room were a lovely touch - would have been great to have had a gluten free option but again a minor detail.

we stayed in the courtyard rooms in order to have the air con and more updated rooms than some in the main hotel. The space in the room is great, bathrooms very smart and the bed comfortable
The decor is a little odd and jars with the style of the main hotel - I expected it to be modern but with a nod to the lovely design in the main hotel rather than having pictures of places that look like Cuba (?) rather than something say of Bury St Edmunds which is the most photogenic town. the courtyard is nice to have with tables outside but it just seems a bit forlorn and dingy
