Lovely spacious room with rustic furniture. Lots of extras that lots of hotels don’t do; espresso machine with pods; kettle and plenty of tea and coffee with two packs of jammy dodger biscuits; complimentary slippers; dressing gowns; four free drinks in fridge; five types of soap and conditioner etc; comb, shaving and vanity kits; plug in radiator. The fitness centre gym was fine too, no free weights but a good range of the exercise machines including smith machine. Unfortunately, didn’t have time to sample the the food (apart form some delicious hot chocolates) and we were sorry because everything else seemed great.

Room was nice and good size , A/C worked well, all very clean. Bathroom nice size and very clean, shower worked well, the personal grooming kits, hairdryer, slippers, dressing gowns etc. all very nice touches. Will be back.

The breakfast was the only let down here, those sausages are terrible, totally tasteless, black pudding similar, bread average the rest reasonable for a buffet breakfast. Not impressed with the reception desk, impersonal doesn't create a good impression or atmosphere on arrival. Had to go back to reception to get issue with door card sorted, eventually guy had to come up with a key, it was to be sorted but had same issue following morning when we came back from breakfast, girl had to come up with a key.

I initially stayed when I was undertaking Guide Dog training and had a great experience, and because I know that the hotel is guide dog friendly, I chose to stay again. It's such a relief to know I won't have to deal with any access issues. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The double room was very clean and well appointed. The outside area is great for walking the dog, with a dedicated spending pen. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, the food was lovely and staff were attentive when dealing with a dietary requirement. We had breakfast the next morning - a great assortment and good quality. Great to have free parking with plenty of spaces. Will be returning when staying in Cardiff as my Guide Dog is quite settled here!

The only downside for me are that the mattresses are a little too firm and the pillows were on the lumpy side, just personal preference but makes it harder to get comfy.

I have stayed previously when this was Park hotels

I found all the staff very pleasant. This included the member of staff I attended to after they collapsed on the floor in reception. All the staff were caring and considerate as myself ( nurse) and another resident who was a Doctor assisted he until we could get her to hospital as she was semi conscious. This took an hour and whilst my meal was replaced, my mother with whom I was dining had not eaten her meal due to the incident. By this time it was around 9.30 pm and I didn’t eat much as it was really too late. My mums meal was not replaced and actually we were charge full Price for our evening meal. I didn’t help because I wanted payment, but it did feel a little awkward being charged after not really Eating or enjoying our food to help out a hotel employee who was clearly very unwell.

Check in staff welcoming, helpful and friendly.Room, bed and bathroom very good.Very clean.We would definitely come back.The icing on the cake was the price of the room,great at £65 for a night.The Cardiff Mercure has a very pleasant atmosphere/ambience.Interesting that a serviceman came to take away the affixed rusty shaving mirror.Cheerfull chap was in and out in no time.

Evening meal poor.Partner had fish and chips.All over cooked.Presentation poor,Tartar sauce served in throw away paper cup like McDonalds used to use.Not up to the standard of the dining room as a whole.I had the Tortilla chips with guacamole,jalopenos and cheese.Was expecting a side of minced beef chilli,what was served was a quite strange portion of shredded beef,not appropriate to ther dish.Given the dining experience we omitted next days cooked breakfast.Just remembered that there was a rather musical gurgling from the pipes as neighbouring rooms emptied their sinks, more like the sound of a rippling stream,not at all unpleasant.

Nicely decorated , cosy and comfy rooms

The parking was confusing, when entering car park there was only room further down which had signs saying to pay and how to. This took a while to sort as it wasn’t working, but when we got into hotel we got told we didn’t even have to pay just after spending atleast £10 on parking overnight. Also didn’t like how much the prices went up just as it was a night Harry styles was performing in Cardiff. We also forgot to pack tooth paste and there were options to have things sent up to room including bath mats etc but no toothpaste- thought this was strange

Very good location, easy to get to with plenty of parking and close enough to catch an Uber into the city centre if we didn’t want to drive. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and the room service ordering via mobile was excellent and convenient. Would definitely stay again

The only minor inconvenience was the room key stopped working multiple times, meaning by the time we had walked to our room on the other side of the hotel, we then had to walk back to reception to get the key card fixed. Otherwise, everything was great.

The room was clean and very spacious. The shower was great and the bed was comfortable. The price of the room was excellent value. The curtains were good quality and kept daylight out. Parking was plentiful and free using the registration sign in at reception. Check in was easy. There were no issues with us bringing our dog along too.

We were woken by some banging noises during the night and early morning. Check out was quite slow and we were in a bit of a rush - a box to drop in keys for a quick check out option might have been handy.

The room was large, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shower was great! It was very helpful to have a restaurant on site, we arrived late so I was very glad not to have to go out for food. The food was good too. The City park n ride is only a few minutes drive away, which is convenient and at £10 for the day saves spending lots on parking fees in the City.

There isn't an obvious reception desk when you enter. I happened to arrive while the receptionist was busy elsewhere so I had to wonder to the restaurant to find a staff member. Not a problem but if the word Reception was visible I'd have waited.

The bed and pillows were so so comfy- great nights sleep. Very well kept, very clean and well presented.

We stayed for 4 nights, and every single day without fail we would have to go back down to reception to get a new key card as ours had stopped working. Also the room was quite noisy with the window open, and the extractor fan in the bathroom would stay on for such a long time so that was very noisy too. Location isn’t ideal (should’ve checked this before booking) as it’s either an hour walk into the city, or a £15 taxi journey. (Uber is usually cheaper)
