Beautiful views, great facilities and staff. Cake and coffee on arrival was a great touch!

The only negative thing was the portion size at breakfast. The food was beautiful, but as a family, we have big appetites and one sausage, one piece of bacon and half a slice of black pudding on the full English didn't touch the sides!!

Everything was just perfect. This was my first solo trip and I was more than a little apprehensive. But the Staff were so friendly and put me at ease - I most definitely will go back again. I loved the atmosphere in the Hotel; the decor and the ability to use the pool . Breakfast was also just what was needed. One of the reasons I choose to stay here was that it was in quite a central location and there was lots to see in the surrounding area. Well done to all at Embleton. Thank you for a lovely few days.

There was nothing to dislike in my opinion.

Everything! The location was perfect for exploring the Western Lakes. Within just a few miles we were able to visit Wordsworth’s home, go to the zoo and take a pony trek into the hills. The main thing to recommend about this hotel was the food. It was incredible!!! We are there every night of our four day stay and each meal was better than the one before. As big foodies this was a remarkable gem to discover. Such care was taken over every aspect. Breakfast was also fantastic and the atmosphere of the bar/restaurant was so warm that we felt we were at home. Id add that the apartment was one of the most comfortable we have stayed in as a family. The beds were so good and the living area meant we could relax together. I can’t recommend this place enough and we will definitely be going back soon!

This used to be a farm and the characteristics are still there. Nice views, lovely welcoming staff and it is dog friendly with a lawn available to use to play and exercise dogs. Pool and gym small but adequate and very nice to keep up with fitness. Perfect location for exploring the area. Apartment was very spacious and well equipped. Shower was powerful. Breakfast and evening meals amazing and we really appreciated the special requests (vegan, gluten free) to be honoured without issues. Interesting and creative Korean style twists on dishes..

The hotel needs a little tlc here and there. Our bed was not very comfortable and the bedroom area (we had an apartment) was hot, no window in bedroom area. Too many mirrors. Noise from road (A66) but that’s not the hotel’s fault and was not an issue during the night.

Staff were very friendly and attentive, spacious room, nice pool and steam room.

Toilet was loose in the room, bed creaked a lot wood needed tightening. Hot tub smelly and stale, needed chemical testing or water changing.

The location was beautiful without hillside and mountains all around the scenery. The staff upon arrival had polite mannerisms and very kind in assisting us with our bags and helping us to our apartment. & wow the apartment was stunning. The space was perfect. The outside terrace was such a nice little touch with again lovely scenery. (Amazing for summer) the swimming pool was relaxing and not too busy. To top it of we had room service from the restaurant with local meats and what a superb dish. Same applied in the morning as we ordered our breakfast to the luxury of our own apartment on our dining table. Thanykou so much. We will visit again but for a longer period.

The apartment was spacious, large bedrooms, a bathroom with hot tub, another bathroom with a spacious shower, and a very well-appointed living space. The bonus, a private terrace but it was too cold to enjoy, and direct access to the car. The insulation was perfect, no noise from the other rooms. We had a very good night, the bedding was comfortable, and everything was very clean. The pool was really at the right temperature (I'm chilly), and big enough not to be embarrassed with several families at the same time.

The pool did not seem as clean as I would have liked, and it was a little cold in the restaurant but it was probably because the establishment was closed the previous days. The apartment is intended for 4 adults or 5 people with children but there are only glasses for 4. This was not a problem for us but it may be a point of improvement.

This was our first trip to the Lakes and the location was ideal as circa 30-45 min to all the hiking places and lakes. It avoids crowded popular locations. For quick shopping we used Cockermouth with Lidl, pet shop, pizza places etc. Hotel is pet friendly which is a massive bonus. Swimming pool more than enough for two kids (11 and 13), and for us having an hour of swimming following hiking tours was good. We stayed in Ullswater room which is a good size family room with a lovely view. Breakfast was good enough with our youngest enjoying pancakes. Bar well equipped with most of the drinks. Dinner options good too.

Opportunities for improvement (it's more what it would help the hotel). Strength of WiFi to review with current broadband supplier. Ullswater room shower room - as in some other reviews definitely requires higher shower tray with some depth to it, and better enclosure to prevent water spilling out.

Room was nice and great for the 4 of us, clean and tidy. Ate breakfast and dinner there and food was lovely though on the first morning for breakfast the services was slow and was the same with the dinner on the first night. Staff just seem a little bit unorganised and jumping for table to table with no system to it. Though the 2nd nights dinner and final days breakfast the service was spot on and again food was lovely. Pool was good and was great for our youngest, though on the first day the chlorine levels must of been off as it did sting your eyes more than normal. Next day it was fine. Overall a lovely stay and hotel in a good location for the lakes and close to the major roads.

As saying above the service on first nights dinner and first mornings breakfast was slow. We were left for some time waiting to order our teas & coffees and then it took some time to come. Another table came in after us and seem to get served straight away which was annoying. Of course they might of come before and order but didnt know for sure.

The breakfast was excellent as was the dinner. The staff were just lovely from start to finish. We had a 3 bedroom apartment within the hotel. It was spacious and quirky. For the 6 of us there was plenty of room and the view from our windows was amazing. Great location for some lovely walks. The check in and check out process was very smooth and the complimentary tea and cakes on arrival was an extra special touch that was really appreciated.

Perhaps a couple of sharp knives in the kitchen to help with meal prep but really not too big an issue
