- Excellent breakfast menu, pre ordered evening before - Excellent meal in the restaurant - Super quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the popular villages - Our room was on the same level as the car out the back, so no stairs with cases - Beautiful view of green meadows out our huge window (could lie in bed and look out) - Large bedroom with a super large bed (Australian King), plenty of space - Lovely bathroom

Being picky... - Was a bit noisy the first night with staff going up and down the stairs and our next door room neighbours (ear plugs worked a treat and we then closed the door to the stair well the second night - Toilet required pumping to flush but that's normal in a lot of places we have stayed

Loved the rooms and the facilities. Clean, tidy and great decor. Good food, lovely vegetarian breakfast. Vegetarian sausage served at breakfast was amazing. Wonderful bath products. Loved it. The staff at the restaurant was extremely polite and nice. Would love to visit again.

No buses on this route so had to rely only on cabs/private taxis . However, we could manage to schedule a cab exactly at the time we needed it but would recommend the place to someone if they're travelling in their own vehicle.

The food was superb and did exceed expectations. Absolutely 10 plus without doubt!! Would have liked to review the rooms and the food separately because the food was truly wonderful. We had evening meals which were some of the best we’ve ever had. Great choice of menu and well presented. Breakfast was also super with plenty of choice. Worth mentioning the young waitress and bar staff in the evening were very friendly and helpful. Sam was great overseeing breakfast for us.

The toaster which I think the staff would appreciate us mentioning that a new one is required. We booked two rooms. One for ourselves and one for our son and wife. The rooms were clean and interesting and decor was good. Beds were overly hard. Sockets misplaced but fortunately we always carry an extension lead. Needed that for hairdryer & kettle!! Mirror with lights in bathroom very good especially for make up. Shower good. Round mirror in bedroom whilst attractive was useless for drying hair etc being convex. Aesthetics over function I’m afraid.

Breakfast was AMAZING. Room was very nice, very comfortable bed, with a nice en suite. Some marks on the walls though - looks like there had a leak at some point and the dampness was maybe still there when they painted over? Had I paid full whack for the room I'd maybe have moaned a bit.

Really needs another socket in the room. I had to pull my bedside cabinet out to plug the kettle in and make myself a coffee sitting on the floor! Outside is too lit up at night - we went for a walk and on our approach back to the premises we had to shield our eyes it was so bright - I think someone misjudged the amount of lumens their floods put out!!

We've dined here several times on previous visits to the Lakes. These have always been excellent experiences. Great choice of dishes, fabulous selection of beers and wines, and superb service from the staff. Very happy to recommend.

Slight wrinkle. We discovered that the overhead shower was not connected to the mixer. This resulted in having to make do with the small hand-held shower hose. We reported this on check out and informed that house management were aware, and that a full replacement is due to take place soon. Older guests may find this challenging.

on arrival we were able to check in early which was a bonus, there was plently of spaces in the car park, the staff were so lovely and kind at all times, the lovely man was so helpful at all times. We had stayed 2 nights and had breakfast included in our stay - we had the english breakfast which was presented lovely and then pancakes the second morning which was very nice also. the pub also offers food but however was fully booked for evening meals.

Designated parking spaces for guests would have been a bonus

Lovely accommodation and friendly staff. Easy check-in and out.

Initially was going to go for breakfast (myself and 2 young children) but was told it was £16 per head. That's a lot of money when they're only going to eat a couple of slices of toast or bowl of cereal. So we opted to go into Bowness instead. Not exactly ideal but what can you do!

Very comfortable and relaxed place to stay. We had a room with it’s own little balcony which was lovely. Parking was free and easy. The food in the restaurant is very good. Highly recommended. We had dinner on all of our three nights. We had been thinking of walking to the nearby town but the road is narrow and quite busy so we decided not to. There are other walks from the pub. A printout of the local walking tracks would be handy.

This is our 3rd year staying at the brown horse and it’s great every time we stay. The rooms are lovely, Vibes are very homely but with a little extra luxury, very clean. Food is amazing, best pub food you’ll get anywhere. Staff are amazing and so friendly nothing is ever a problem for them there always so happy to help. The bar staff and so welcoming and always make our stay! We will be returning as soon as we can.

Nothing it’s all great

Breakfast was amazing … each member of the family could choose from a full English breakfast, or a variety of other hot breakfast options; while you wait for your hot breakfast, there was a continental buffet of fresh pastries, fruits, yogurt, cereal, toast, and juices. The location was a bit away from the touristy spots, which we prefer.

The internet strength was very poor. As I work fully online and expected to be able to work before setting out and/or upon return in the evenings, this really was an issue for me. The staff were all amazing and as a travel planner, I honestly have never seen such a hard-working team. The chef created an amazing dinner menu, which we highly recommend. The only issue was not being able to have decent internet.
