Bide-A-Wee Inn and Cottages

The place is the style of an old-fashioned motor court, on a corner lot, two blocks from the ocean. It's a bit rustic, yet very comfortable, both outside surroundings and in the room. I had a fantastic sleep, woke early, and wandered down to visit the tide pools. Light breakfast is offered in the reception office, but the room had a kitchenette with fridge and microwave, so I ate in my room.

I travelled alone, so there was enough space for my things. If I had been with someone else, I probably would have found it crowded, as the closet is small. Also, there were no cutlery, glasses or dishes in the kitchenette.

Check in was quick and the staff was both friendly and polite. There was an option available for checking in after hours, which I ended up not requiring. Quiet, comfortable neighborhood location with a garden-like cottage setting where small details could be enjoyed like the fountain near the fireplace seating area. There was instant hot water, soft fluffy towels and very comfortable bed. The room was spacious enough for two although I traveled alone. The refrigerator was larger than most hotels and it was nice to toast my bagel from the grab and go breakfast in the room's toaster. I was lucky enough to get a room upstairs which had a slight view of the ocean, and I liked the small chair and table on the landing. Excellent location for a quick stroll to Asilomar state beach, and few minutes' drive to the local shops in Pacific Grove.

The parking is a bit tight and even though I have a mid-sized truck it took a few maneuvers to come and go. I wouldn't change that because to do so would have to take away from the garden features-just might note in the details for guests who have larger vehicles. I'm glad I had a room upstairs because the parking spaces were in front of the cottage windows and at night the lights were shining directly in them.

Amazing location overlooking Mono Lake. Very pleasant facility, with convenient free parking and beautiful gardening. Lots of places to sit in the garden, and a great little café on the property that serves light meals. 5-minutes drive from the Mono Lake information center. It definitely looks like the nicest hotel in town.

We liked everything. It took us some time to understand how the faucet in the shower works but that was a minor issue. Also, bear in mind that some of the rooms are on the top level and there is no elevator. We had to carry our heavy bags up the stairs. We were disappointed not to have seen bears on the property (given the warnings on the trash cans)...

It's in a perfect location. We saw a lot of Deers running around. Beautiful! The rooms are nice, with a small kitchenette. We had booked the One Bedroom Queen Cottage with Fireplace. Cute little cottage. I would for sure stay here again, just in another room with no-one above our unit.

Our cottage came with a unit above us. Unfortunately the people above us where very inconsiderate. They kept trampling around and moving furnitures at Midnight. On the second night they decided to turn on their car lights at 4:00AM in the morning which directly shinned in our bedroom and woke us up. It's not the Cottages fault, that our comfort level and sleep pattern got disrupted. It was unconsidered and selfish travelers that felt they needed to not care about anyone else's comfort.

This is our go to place when visiting friends in PG. It is dog friendly ---- really dog friendly --- in both the ground and the rooms. Water is hot and immediate. Location is superb. An eclectic array of breakfast food, including a superb yogurt. And, of course, just down the road from The Fish Wife. I fear raving about it may make it harder to get a reservation so I will say nothing more.

Lighting! More lamps, Better ligthing overall. And the rooms are too spartan. An extra easy chair and light and some small inexpensive touches would make this place over the top.

The location was fabulous; you could hear the ocean waves at night. It was so close and walkable to to the ocean and to the Asilomar State Beach. It was close to downtown Pacific Grove; great places to dine and shop there. It had plenty of grassy areas for our dog; had a small dog park too. It did have a small continental breakfast.

We had a standard king room and not one of the bigger “cottages” so the room was kind of small, but was just fine for us to use as a staging area for our little side trips to see family and enjoy ocean side living.

Visited to take my dad golfing for his birthday. Booked the 2 room, 1 bathroom cottage. Very cozy, but was adequate for 4 people. Heaters worked well and quickly. Walls a bit thin, so snoring and neighbors can be heard - although muffled, but for the most part comfortable. Very nice staff and very accommodating. I had requested something special in the room as a surprise for my dad's birthday. When we arrived, there were balloons and flowers in the room with a nice birthday card - there was a fee of course, but it was an amazing touch and an over the top effort. Thank you. Also was able to bring my small, elderly dog with us for a nominal fee - many other places charge upwards of $100, if they are allowed at all. Bagels are offered in the morning and pastries and cookies in the afternoon. The grounds had very nice flowers all over, were clean and well kept.

Just a concern for dog owners - the picnic area is nice, but there is a large amount of foxtails here. Foxtails can be dangerous to pets - I've personally seen many medical problems caused by foxtails in my veterinary career. They were green when we visited, but can create big issues when they dry out. I realize the space is very limited, but if there was a way to have more seating, so folks could watch tv together.

We were meeting 3 additional sets of friends who all booked at the same Inn. We knew there would be outdoor picnic area to gather and brought a few snacks to set out and socialize. The available outdoor space was great for this. (We brought a few camping chairs to make sure we had enough seating)The location was also perfect for a walk to the beach path, the tidepools etc., AND it was also quite walkable to town for coffee and a meal (at the Red House on Lighthouse which is a must try!) The room had a small table and 2 chairs to eat, and also had a refrigerator, toaster and microwave. Closet was nice to have with ENOUGH hangers, so if you didn't bring too much and put your stuff away, the room was perfect.

our room was a bit tight and I was not crazy about the "kitchen: sink also being the bathroom sink. (not located in the bathroom) Our friends had a little different configuration, so not all rooms felt as tight a space around the bed.

The location is outstanding if you are into long walks or runs on the coastline. Asilomar State Beach is an easy 1/4 mile from the property. A boardwalk runs south for a couple of miles along the beach cliff to Spanish Bay, which is really the only beach you can walk on. Swimming isn't an option for most folks; rough surf and very cold. But views are spectacular. North from the State Park has endless paths, which could take you all the way to Monterey. Deer abundant. My wife observed whales one morning when I was off playing golf. Great for our dog too.

Very loud neighbors on first night. Otherwise, a quiet property. Walls are pretty thin. But, fortunately, on the side of the unit with the bed, there was no cottage on that side. Kitchen serviceable.

This is the second time we stayed at the cottage and it did not disappoint. The area is peaceful and quiet as usual. The last night of our stay though, our next door neighbor were loud even after hours. They were talking very loud. Aside from that, we would stay here again. The cottage is walking distance from the beach, the unit has a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, iron board, and a fan.

I don’t think the A/C worked but night time was chilly enough to open the windows.
