I did not have the breakfast because I met a friend and we went elsewhere. The location was excellent for me. I traveled by city bus from San Francisco after having spent several days around Union Square. I was able to easily ride by bus to the Santa Rosa Transit Mall, which is practically next door to Hotel E. My room seemed almost new! I like the minimalist approach, i.e. skip the swimming pool, workout room, etc.; facilities I never use at a hotel anyway. Focus on the important details... and do them well. Hotel E accomplishes that nicely.

I have two suggestions that would enhance a traveler's experience. First, there needs to be a chair of some sort in the room and preferably a chair that can be used at the desk. The "bench" presently there is unsuitable and uncomfortable. Also, for someone such as myself who needs to sleep in a chair (to enhance breathing), the absence of a chair was a definite negative. Second, a desk light on the desk would allow use of the desk without having to turn on the overhead light. This would produce a much better experience while using a laptop computer on the desk. Also, it would enhance the use of the room when one person want/needs to sleep and a second person work at the desk.

This is a charming boutique hotel which was originally a bank and law offices. The E stands for Empire - the original name of the building. Our third floor room was small but well-appointed, with modern industrial styling. I'm not a fan of them, but they are functional; the bathroom had a barn door. The room was surprisingly quiet considering our location in the heart of the restaurant and shopping district. You can stop outside long enough to check in, but then you have to find street or parking structure parking. Street parking is free and plentiful after 6pm. The hotel also offers valet parking. The surrounding area is very walk-able, and we found plenty of interesting stores and restaurants nearby as well as a lovely little park across the road from the hotel. The hotel has a wine bar on the first floor, but it didn't seem to be very busy. Continental breakfast is served in the wine bar, and was included in our room rate. however, the food selection was rather sparse - apples, oranges, orange juice from concentrate, muffins and yogurt. There was plenty of good coffee! The staff were lovely and very helpful. I would certainly stay here again.

The quality of the breakfast was a little disappointing.

It’s a cool old building but care was taken with comfort. climate control was excellent. Very quiet in room. The mattress was very comfortable and finishings were new. Very clean in room and lobby. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.

Water dispenser in lobby but not elsewhere. The in room water wasn’t an option and we were not super interested in trekking down in the middle of the night. Valet was very friendly but I don’t think they have the parking totally figured out. My guess is that the lot is far.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations. For the price (was on discount on Booking) it was incredible. Very comfortable king sized bed. Great shower with above-standard provided soaps/shampoos. Front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The on-site bar was a treat, & the staff tending that were also very friendly and helpful. Would absolutely stay here again. Location was 10/10

Parking situation could be improved.. but its int he center of downtown so not much they can do about it. We parked overnight in a metered spot without issue, and made sure to start the meter at 9am when they come into use. For a single night stay, was better than their offered valet option.

Lisa and the valet were awesome. The hotel is immaculate. Bar open til 11. If you removed all I didn't like this place is perfect.

As if anyone isn't familiar with the CA homeless problem. This area of downtown is widely trafficked by them. There are lots of restaurants and foot traffic for them to pan handle of off. The area is very noisy at night on weekends. It seems there is a street show nearby and many members who participate drive by multiple times throughout the night. These are the types of cars you can hear a mile away and they'll be driving 10 ft away from your window. Furthermore, on my walk to dinner which was less than 500 ft from the Hotel I was shot with a paintball gun by kids driving around the area. I observed 6 cars participating in that.

This hotel was fabulous! Close to wineries, friendly staff, and chic decor. There was even small breakfast offerings which we were not expecting. The room was the cleanest hotel we stayed in during our trip to northern California. Excellent value for the cost.

The only issue we had was with the parking (which isn’t the hotel’s fault). They do offer valet parking, which we did one day. The other days we found street parking and just feed the meter.

Hotel is in a safe area. Convenient parking with meters, free on Sunday. Lisa at the front desk was was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. All other staff was helpful as well. She is a treasure! Included were a coffee maker, frig. and safe. The continental breakfast was included. There were no hidden extra room charges. The room was great, bathroom wonderful and A/C was quiet. The "La Rosa," restaurant just next door was very good. We plan to stay again in 3 weeks.

Excellent location. Staff were very friendly and attentive. bed was comfy. Nice big shower and bathroom. The room had everything you needed, including a safe, coffee maker, and small fridge. Also free coffee and tea in the lobby. Because it was Halloween the hotel also had a bowl of treats out :)

Not the hotels fault, but there is a lot of noise due to location. We were in a corner room on the SW side of the building - woke up to loud joyriders, garbage trucks, and street cleaners every morning / middle of the night. Perhaps the NE end of the building would be quieter with the park out front. If you’re a light sleeper pack ear plugs.

We arrived at the hotel around 7pm after a long drive from Portland, OR and the location, staff, and cleanliness exceeded our expectations. The hotel was very clean with a cozy lounge area near the bar with couches and games to relax and socialize. The valet and welcome staff were so nice and informative, and welcomed our small dog with a welcome biscuit and lots of pets. We were 600ft away from restaurants, bars, coffee, and little shops which was awesome because we really didn’t want to get back in the car and drive anywhere else. There was also a nice big park across the street to walk our dog. The room was smaller but very cozy and very clean. We have never been to Santa Rosa, but will definitely be back because of this hotel experience. Thank you for taking great care of a couple weary travelers!

I couldn’t find a water station or ice machine, but that didn’t affect my experience at all really. Maybe just add a couple signs or let guests know where to find water/ice at check in.

excellent location. Excellent room. new and large space.

I did not like that there no ice machine or vending machine for water. very inconvenient to have to take the elevator or stairs to go to front desk to get ice and water and sodas. It was a pain to gave keep engaging w staff for such simple things. Then of of course you feel obligated to give them a tip. And the elevators weren’t operating during our stay, so up and down stairs with hands full was not fun.
