We love the location. 4th time staying. Upgraded to a deluxe corner front ocean view. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

I would rate this resort a 5 but can’t 1. Are king size ocean view room was not available upon check in even though I paid in advanced and noted online that we would arrive late between 9:30pm and 10pm. 2. There were tiny bugs flying and crawling on the main dresser. Still praying we did not bring any home with us.

This place is a VIBE. We arrived at night and all the tiki torches were going, there was a luau happening on site, and the outdoor bar looked like a great spot to grab dinner and drinks - 2 free mai tai coupons upon arrival was a great touch! We also received a bottle of champagne for our honeymoon, which was so nice. The location is fantastic, just a quick walk to get to the main stretch of restaurants/bars. The pool was very zen, with the ocean waves crashing on lava rock just a few feet away. The elevators were very very quick to come which is always nice. Overall, we would DEFinitely come back to the Royal Kona Resort, and I hope that we do soon!

The parking is $25 a day, but it was easy enough to get in and out of the lot with the room key, and just paid upon checking out.

The location and also the possibilities in and around it like sports, sightseeing,, shops, restaurants. concierge ( Summer ) was great as she arranged a last minute booking for a Manta night day which was a great experience 🤩. The breakfast at the hotel was good and the offering on the card ok.

The double beds were a little small for 2 people. The new gym is great but there are towels missing. The people that train don’t use any and also don’t clean the maschines and weights so that is a little bit disgusting when you want to use it after somebody. Sure it’s about the people’s behavior but towels could help to avoid it. Water could also be good to have in there 😉

The staff was very pleasant and helped us by holding our luggage after check out time, and were able to use the grounds while waiting to leave for the airport.

I don't think it's fair to charge an additional resort fee for a one night stay. The list of services provided related to the resort fee can't possibly be used during a one night stay, which really means a little under 20 hours, 7 or 8 of which your sleeping. I think the only thing listed we were able to take advantage of was the two water bottles in the room. If I could recommend, making those extra services/offerings al la carte.

Staff was friendly and facilities were great, they had complimentary drinks and the room was super clean.

We had reservations for the Luau for my wife's birthday but it was cancelled with a fairly reasonable explanation, however they should have informed with a LOT more time or be prepared for this cases; we were not notified with enough time to book somewhere else thus we had to figure out what to do. As a side note, the hotel sells and promotes the Luau but didn't follow through with the responsibility or accountability to help us figure something out (even for refund we were supposed to get it ourselves from the Luau company which has really short working hours). If Luau is one of their prime events they should be the ones bearing the responsibility, the manager came to us after a while of being in the reception talking to front desk to help out with refund.

The Royal Kona Resort is perfectly located in downtown Kona. The surf boils and crashes at the base of the property. The resort has an attractive grounds, with thousands of birds making their presence known, especially in the morning. The bar and restaurant area was a great place to hang out.

The room we were in (#268) was right next to Huggo's Restaurant. There is live music every night, and it was disturbingly loud. We asked for a room change, but were offered a better room with an upgrade charge.

The hotel has a great location, beautiful view right on the water. We upgraded for a small fee to a corner room with a balcony that had amazing views, modern, clean, comfortable room. The resort has lots of amenities, great oceanside pool, bar, convenience store all accessible, terrific staff, always helpful. We attended the Friday night Luau which was a lot of fun and good food options.

The buildings could use an exterior update but it didn't affect the wonderful time we had here.

The location is so convenient to the shopping and restaurants on Ali'i Drive - if you wanted to stay just in Kona, you could manage without a car. The partial ocean view and balcony were both wonderful. The grounds and lobby area are beautifully kept and a pleasant place to hang out. The tidal lagoon was a really nice perk that provided safe and easy swimming with tropical fish! Hawaii is an expensive place, and I think they provide a clean, decent place for what you pay per night. You can probably stay somewhere that is super pristine and modern elsewhere, but be prepared to pay double the price.

The housekeeping was not the most detail-oriented - forgotten washcloths, soap dishes left unwashed, etc. Most of the place could do with a lick of paint, but it seems that most places in the area all have a patina of wear-and-tear due to weather and being near the ocean. The mattresses seemed pretty flimsy - they were OK for us, but if you are picky about beds, this is not the place for you. The freshwater shower was not working at the lagoon, which was a little disappointing. These are all minor complaints, but I think it's helpful to know these kinds of things to level-set expectations.

The location of the hotel is great, right in front of the ocean and at walking distance from a lot of restaurants and shops. The private lagoon is amazing and the pool is also great. We loved the hotel bar with its great cocktails!!!

The shower in our room was not great, it had very few water and the water was extremely hot. We contacted the hotel and they tried to fix it but it was still the same...since that part of the hotel is under renovation, I guess it's normal.

we made an upgrade to our room to get the desired front ocean view. It was the front/corner unit on the last floor which was amazing. Loved the sound of the surf and the building's swaying architecture.

We found it a bit sad to see the planter boxes along the balconies totally empty. A little color accent here and there would have made sitting outside much more enjoyable.
