Breakfast was coffee and donuts, "grab and go", from 7.30 . The decor in the room was fresh and very tasteful and rustic, fitting in with the setting in the countryside. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was soft and pretty. The towels were soft and thick. Loved the communal BBQs on the balcony, plus the mini firepit and pizza oven. Fridge was fairly new. Coffee maker worked well and coffee pods were of good quality. There was a microwave.

Swimming pool was much smaller than photos suggested. A dipping pool, really. Lodges fight beside a very busy, noisy road, though it quietened down at night and we had no trouble sleeping. All lodges face the road,. One end of the building looks over the wee swimming pool towards the road and a fast food restaurant beyond..The other end looks over the carpark, to the road and the hill beyond.

If you are looking for a great location without the crowd, this is definitely it. Everything you want to see is close, just a short drive. There is not the crowds of tourists here. Nice Dairy Whip place across the road. The room was very clean. The beds were super comfortable. The door shuts air tight, blocking out noise from anyone enjoying the deck. The owner seems to work very hard at maintenance of the property. I saw him and his work truck doing things a lot. Be advised that there is no daily housekeeping. There is no ice machine, but there is an ice bucket. You can purchase ice in the lobby or down the street at the convenience store. Like I said, the location, cleanliness and beds are awesome.

Just that the floor of the shower is slick, could use a rubber mat for people who have a fear of falling in the shower.

This was a great facility. The family that owns this property is great and very accommodating. Very down to earth and just good people. The world needs more people like them. The property was very clean and the pride of ownership is very evident.

The size of the bathroom and shower. Having a kitchenette, something had to give and the bathroom/shower was it. Very difficult to even move in the shower. Otherwise, there isn’t anything else that I could, or would even want to complain about. The other room had a full tub/shower and two queen beds so it has to be due to the kitchenette. If you don’t need two sinks, book the two queen room and you will be very happy here.

Cary and Melissa (owners) were so kind and welcoming! Rooms looked recently remodeled, lots of really nice homey touches. Plenty of towels, blankets, snacks, Keurig coffeemaker. Cozy fireplace-heater. Very comfy! Nice movable TV with DirecTV. Location was great.

Walls were a little thin (we mentioned this), the only other guests were right next to us and a tad noisy. Breakfast was pretty sparse, but we've had worse! Shower was small, but the bathroom as a whole was large.

From the minute we arrived the owner and his family made us feel welcome. The room was recently updated and super clean. The beds were very comfortable. We liked the location and it’s proximity to all the parks and sites we wanted to see. I would highly recommend starting at Mountain View Lodge and cabins.

The rooms were immaculate and updated. Very comfortable bed and pillows. The view was beautiful. The location was ideal to many attractions nearby.

The rooms dont locked automatically like other hotel rooms might. This lead to random children barging into our room on 4 different occasions as their parents clearly were not watching them. Also we were not able to enjoy the common deck space as other guests monopolized all the tables. There were tables across from each room letting one believe that that table was designated for your room, but some guests were taking up multiple tables.

Great location, comfortable beds, hot water, refrigerator plus microwave plus good ac. Very well kept up property. Easy to find as well. Small Continental breakfast. Good parking, away from the main congested areas.

Since the property faces the west, could use some roll down shades off the balcony or shaded screens on the window to keep the room cooler without having to keep the drapes pulled closed. An outside roller shade would allow people to sit out on the balcony, without that it is just too much direct sun. More of a comment, not a fault, understand that is how the property was built.

Not far from Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument. Picturesque location. Rustic lodge ambience.

Limited surface areas and storage space. Very limited clothes hanging facilities. Too many decorative pillows and features that took up space needed for storage. Tight shower/toilet space.

Love, love, love! This is the best place for the best price with the perfect location for us! Cannot be beat and we have stayed in MANY locations around the hills. New owners were super nice! We plan our trips on a budget and Mountain View lodge allows us to make trips out to the hills on our limited budget which does make me nervous about giving a glowing review for fear that we are giving away our little secret to make our trips to the hills financially feasible for us, buuuut this place and the owners deserve a glowing review because it’s just perfect for us! Beds are soo comfortable after a long day of hiking trails and enjoying the beauty of the hills! Always clean rooms with plenty of hot water for a relaxing shower after a long day. Nice, quick, little grab and go breakfast to start the morning of exploring. Perfect location with easy access to Hill City just minutes away, and on the main intersection to head on up to Spearfish, Deadwood or back into Rapid City. There is a new 5g tower going up close to the lodge so cell strength will be better, but for anyone complaining about cell service or wifi just be aware there are MANY places in the Black Hills where it will be spotty and even non existent service..this is the point of nature and exploring! We have never had an issue with wifi and consider it just a little added bonus whenever we get it but NEVER expect it! We have always had decent wifi at the lodge for what we needed. We usually stay off peak season so haven’t had a chance to try out the pool yet but it was filled and the area looked clean and inviting😀
